Do not come to this place!! They are rude and deceptive to customers. I live in Olympia, Washington and I have only went to gas stations that are self service only and I always pump my own gas. I attended this gas station late at night and when I drove to any available station, a person popped up and stated he was going to pump my gas. I stated okay, and explained I have never been to this type of service before. He didn't say anything and continued to pump my gas. I noticed the prices were increasing and very high. I quickly stated hey this is expensive. I only found out afterward I was charged almost 80 dollars for an extra service that I wasn't aware of and did not consent to. He did not explain to me what service I was getting and that there will be an additional charge. I have never been to this type of gas station before and the employee, did not explain to me and the signs were not clear. I didn't know the difference between full and mini service, I was just there to get regular gas at the normal price. It feels very deceptive that this information wasn't explained. It was dark at night and there wasn't many customers so taking the time to explain would have helped. If I would have known what service I was getting, I would have immediately declined and found another gas station. There was another customer who pulled up shortly after me and started to pump her own gas so she was not aware either, the employees did not make it clear so we did not understand what we are getting. When I spoke to the manager Steve the following morning, he hung up on me twice after I explained this to him. He was very rude and condescending. There was no empathy or concern about my experience as a customer. He said it is not their fault that I didn't know and was confused and put the blame on me by saying you should just ask in a snarky tone. Now you will know next time, in a condescending tone. I told him I didn't know to ask, I thought I was getting gas at the normal price. I didn't understand what the services meant. I have never been here before. He stated that's not our fault and we are not going to inform customers because they don't know, they should figure it out. I stated customer satisfaction should be the ultimate goal of every business so there should be an effort to explain, even if it take 5 seconds to let the customer know there will be an additional charge and what each service includes. He stated no I will not do that. This is not our fault. When I explained that request to one of his employees he stated that it will anger the customers. I stated that would not anger me, if you would have explained it to me, I would have went elsewhere where the prices are regular. Customers should be aware so they can make an informed decision. This seems to be a scam to make more money off of the customers by not telling them. When I asked the manager for the corporate number he gave me the wrong number so I had to find it online. He was yelling at me on the phone and cut me off several times when I was explaining the situation, he wouldn't allow me to get a word in. He was rude and arrogant. He stated in the middle of the conversation, I have other important things to do and hung up. He was very defensive and argumentative throughout the conversation. I was treated very poorly as if my concerns did not matter. People like this should not work in customer service. I asked what was his bosses number so I can file a complaint about how I was treated, he stated, I don't give out that number, that's an invasion of privacy and personal in a rude tone. He was very nasty. I am requesting that he and his employees be better trained on customer service and communication. They should not work in customer service if they have a bad attitude and don't like people. I would like to speak with a customer service representative to discuss this complaint further. I am not happy with the poor service I received and I will no longer be returning to this gas station. Customers please take your money where you are valued and appreciated. Don't count on getting your fuel points redeemed at this Shell station. I handed my card to the attendant and told him I had a $1.00 per gallon discount coming with Fred Meyer fuel points. He filled up my tank and when he handed me the receipt, I knew he hadn't applied the discount. He claimed I didn't have any fuel points. When I insisted on having another employee type in my rewards number to prove my point, it showed that I did indeed have fuel points. I left feeling cheated. Is this a one time occurrence or a common practice to rip off customers? Either way, the Shell Station in University Place has lost a local customer. read more

I stopped at this gas station to use full service bc I have back problem and couldn't walk today. I asked for $20 in gas, knowing the card I was using has $56 on it. He ran the card for $50 which shows cleared in my bank account. Then ran it two more times.. once for $50 and once for $20. Then came back and told me the card declined and refused to pump any gas. It's 7am and he insists it's my bank even though I showed him in my account that it took $50 the first time he ran it. He wants me to call the bank which opens in 2 hours. So I'm sitting in front of the pump until then. This guy is a DICK. I should have known better than go to a Shell station, they invest in private prison. Unfortunately I needed gas and full service. I pulled around into my gas pump and to my surprise a gentleman was coming out to put my gas little did I know this was a full service station. I was delighted when I did not have to get out of the car in anyway shape or form the gentleman also informed me that I had a tail light that was receiving some water and would have electrical problems if I did not receive repair soon. We had a brief discussion about it and later began speaking about how his dad owned this gas station. I told him that I've been living in this area for years. And couldn't remember when Bonney Lake has no more than a BP and a Safeway in it. His attendance to our vehicle was astronomically great compared to any other service I've received in a gas station in my life right on Jim!! read more

How ironic - the very day I decided to make this Shell station be our "regular station for service and gas" I had the experience of dealing with the owner spouting off a string of obscenities about one of their customers. I had recently worked with station guy Jim - had a tire replaced on one of our cars, and they were closer than a tire store. A few months before, the same guy (Jim) took care of some work on another car. SUPER nice, this Jim guy. Both times he took the time to thank me for my business and shook my hand. I liked that. Last week, I took my truck in for an oil change - that very day I had decided to make this place our service station. You know, support the little guy and all that. Yeah, their gas prices are always 30 cents higher than the two other stations down the street. But with the nice small-town treatment from Jim had steered me back to them. Until I had the "pleasure" of spending 20 minutes in the lobby with Steve, the owner. He was on a jag about one of the stations bigger customers - and launched into a foul-mouthed F-Bomb laden tirade about how demanding they are, how he hates this and that, about how customers demand this and that - all in a non-stop harangue of F-bombs about those Mutherf*****s blah blah blah. All I could do was endure it. It was cold outside (snowing actually!) and I was awaiting my wife for a ride home. I actually asked another employee who that was to make sure I had it right - Steve. Yep - the station owner. Who does that? Why would he assume I'd not mind hearing the F-word a hundred times, and about a station customer no less?? I'm no pansy but also not fond of hearing foul-mouthed F-bomb tirades that would make a seasoned sailor blush. Wow. Oh well. As I began, how ironic this happened on the very day I brought another vehicle to them for service, having decided to use this Shell as my new regular place for all of our vehicles going forward. I am so glad we have this station in our neighborhood! There are three events in my life that they have been essential. Once when I had a flare rheumatoid arthritis for several months. I could barely turn the key to start the car, much less pump gas for myself. Another time, one of our tires had been needing air refilled every month for 2 years. We have brought it to the dealer several times and they could not find a leak. The tire expert at Bridgeport Shell found 4 of them!!! He was so courteous, professional and patched the leaks up quickly. I have not had any problems since. Nowadays with the Covid19 crisis, my family and I feel safer using this station to pump our gas. My 91 old mother has been going there for years. She has an 1996 Olds with only 57000 miles on it. She is a very loyal customer and has refused to go anywhere because " he is such a nice guy" ! These people have been taking advantage of this lady with doing unnecessary work , like muffler work instead of fixing the engine problems, charging her $200.00 to walk across the street to Safeway to start her car and then put a low end battery in. The car just came out for the gas station 10 days ago and will not run but the battery works. My brother in law and I are going up this week to have THE TALK !! Mixed feelings. I went in for an oil change, which I got. But while waiting I observed a dazed out kid at the shop spraying window cleaner on my car's after market tint, which is destroyed by window cleaner. It causes it to turn purple, then brown, then peel off. I just had this tint done was aghast. I asked him to stop and explained why. He seemed in a fog. Minutes later he was back at it as if I never said a thing. So I told the owner. He did not seem to get it and replied, "you know what we sell? Quality!" Uhhhh ok, but that's got nothing to do with what I just told you. When I got home I took out a bucket and filled it with soapy water and I washed off the stuff. I spent a half hour trying to ensure they didn't wreck my tint. What can I say... I got a fast oil change. I presume they did a good job: checked the oil and looked clean. I trust it was synthetic as requested. The work was fast. I appreciated that. Got a decent quote from them on tires and I might even go back for them. I'm just perplexed by the gap in knowledge and unwillingness to hear me when I presented what was going on. You decide. read more

Friendly, honest, thorough, locally owned. I had my oil changed on a moment's notice today. The guys didnt hesitate. Had to have the right filter delivered, but the whole thing was quick and painless. Treated me very respectfully and let me know what was going on the whole time. My daughter and I went here Monday morning (5-15-17). We were attempting to put air in my tires, something seemed to be wrong with the nozzle. I sent my 12 year old daughter to ask the man walking around for help. He barked at her "I CANT HELP YOU, YOU NEED TO BUY GAS FOR HELP"! She came back and said " he's really rude". So I called my husband for help. When my husband got there we already left but he looked at the nozzle and saw the man had removed the nozzle and he saw him pulling it in and out of his pocket, helping others put air in at the pumps. I went to Les Schwab, way better customer service. He doesn't have to worry about seeing my family at his business again. read more

This service station performed a plug repair of a tire on my wife's vehicle and failed to tighten all the lug nuts. Upon noticing the missing lug nut I checked the torque of the remaining lug nuts and found 3 more lug nuts at less than half the required torque. When the lug nut was identified missing and the vehicle returned to them with a request to replace the missing lug nut they declined and stating we were lying about the repair and that they had never worked on the vehicle or tire in question. Being unable to locate our receipt we requested they review their records to identify the $22 charge from them on our credit card as a fee for repair of the tire in question. They chose not to review the receipt or question the young mechanic who my wife watched perform the repair. They were so rude and condescending to my wife that she left the facility in tears due to their rudeness and poor business etiquette. Furthermore their method of tire repair is a plug type repair that is not accepted as a proper repair in accordance with the Rubber Manufactures of America or the tire manufacture industry. Most all of this issue was created by the general manager's unwillingness to fully determine whether his mechanic was at fault or not. It is lucky for this shop that I was attentive enough to identify the missing lug nut and subsequently tighten the remaining lug nuts prior to failure of the wheel and a possibly vehicle rollover. In the end the general manager's offer after consulting the owner was $20 off if we purchased $1,000 worth of tires and they would sell us a new lug nut for a $1 off. Separate from our issue my wife witnesses another employee scold a customer who paid for their fuel via credit card. The employee publicly insulted the customer by pointing out how much more he was going to pay if he was going to pay with something other than cash. read more

So glad to see others had negative experiences here as well ...so it wasnt just about me looking like an airhead. Stopped for gas and specifically oil check hate doing either myself. As the gas was pumping ( believe it was the owner) he lifted my hood as i was looking at my phone. Well guess what i really was paying attention and he did not even check it and said it looked good!!! He just acted like he did thinking i was preoccupied on my phone! Used to go here all the time in the 70's, but moved. Fast forward to now-- husband passed away and needed an oil change, but don't like where he used to go. Friend told me to go here. Forgot all about them! Went, got right in and they did a wonderful job! Explained everything (I had a few other issues too), answered all my questions and I was a happy camper!
