Side Note: Ever since I purchased this rug for my kitchen I've had the most difficult time finding dish towels to coordinate. I found some at CB a while back, but they were $9 each. A bit steep in my opinion, but I bought'em. Ok, enough about the place I'm not reviewing. This spot has tons of rugs, some home decor items and lots of linens. I have a profession where clients often ask me where to shop for rugs, and unique textile pieces for there homes, I try to determine what type they are looking for, if "artistic, high quality, and large selection" are in there response, I never hesitate to send them downtown to Stewart-Zacks. They have a large selection of wool rugs of above average quality, and often I have found some hand knotted pieces that are not readily available anywhere else in the Traverse City area. A nice selection of stuff in a locally owned store. They get the negative review from me due to their ridiculous return/exchange policy. My wife purchased a couple of Christmas pillows just over 30 days ago and when we started to put out the Christmas decorations recently saw that they didn't quite go with the room the way we wanted. We stopped by several times to find the store closed and she finally was able to stop in the other day when they were open to either return or exchange them. She was told by the person working that you had to return things within 14 days to get cash back - my wife suggested an exchange for a different color or style and the answer was no. I emailed the owner and she said the policy was 30 days and that was that. We try to shop local as much as possible, but to not allow even an EXCHANGE of merchandise shortly after 30 days is very narrow-minded and not at all customer friendly. We won't be back - so if you buy something make sure it's right before you leave the store and don't count on anything after that..... read more

I have to say that I could not be anymore disappointed with this business. Years ago this was the go to store in Traverse. Since under new ownership it has gone down hill. Every time I go to this store I think to myself "who still buys this look". The whole store just looks tired, old and dirty. the accessories look like they were bought in the clearance section of Hobby Lobby. The window usually looks like a garage sale. Thank you for proving just how far a business can truly take the slide. Shop elsewhere unless you want your house to look like it was decorated in 1984. read more
