Terrible service. Slow to respond. Hired them to do a small landscaping job in my yard. They planted Gardenia shrubs which I told them I didn't think would grow well in my soil but I trusted the process. Fast Forward 6 months the shrubs died despite me watering thoroughly the first few weeks of planting. When I contacted them 9 months later to replace them (still under 1 year warranty) they dodged my phone calls & emails. Never followed up, I had to constantly call & email. Still have not resolved the issue. I do not recommend, save your money and go use another compnay. Customer service is non-responsive. read more

Horrible work, when the project manager came out he didn't see anything wrong with the wall. We were very specific about not interfering with the irrigation system. Leaks everywhere. The over sidewalk that was installed had to be removed then reinstalled. 7months later the mortar fell out of the cracks. The slate came off on the steps and the faded on the steps fell off. They did come out to repair it but it looks bad. I reached out to the project manager no response. Then I called Chris at the office text him the last pic no response. I sent an email didn't even acknowledge me. So now I have to get someone to fix Stewart Landscaping's poor snotty work. They don't even care. They don't deserve to be in business. read more

Signed a contract for Stewart's to remove all grass with a dingo and level the back yard. I get 3 guys in a truck with Wheel-barrels and rakes. Takes them all day because they are not provided the right equipment. I honestly feel bad for the guys that do the manual labor but the account manager is either delusional or doesn't understand what he is doing. They did a mediocre job at leveling but left giant patches missing and my grass is full of weeds. read more

Their crews do a good job when properly instructed as to the job requirements. Try calling them - or emailing. You'll get a cheery, "someone will get right back to you!" and then crickets. Silence. No return call or return email. Even when your email says, "This is a billing dispute and the bill will not be paid until the issue is resolved." If you don't pay the bill due to the dispute, they will wait 3 months before calling with profanity, anger and nonstop yelling. Threats to send the bill to a collection agency are made over your efforts to calmly discuss the actual dispute with them. Offers of partial payment or other negotiation are ignored. Followup emails with clearly outlined steps to resolve the issue are responded to with either a blithe "look forward to hearing from you!" or outright lies about the situation. Run away. read more

Will never use them again On first try the job was completed and the results were horrible with glue everywhere and looking nothing like the examples we showed the estimator. Trying to reach anyone was difficult. After they responded and the crew supervisor came out the job was done again and the results were even worse. After another call a supervisor came out and admitted the job was sub standard. He promised to go back to the office and contact us the following day with a plan. Almost a week later we heard nothing from the company as promised but a crew and repaired most of the repair job, while we were at work. Still no contact from the office. A few days later the remaining work was completed. The final job was not what we had hoped or promised but was satisfactory. Still, we heard nothing from the company. Finally they started hounding us for the remaining balance on the bill. No contact from the manager who visited or even anything remotely resembling an apology or a discount based on the poor service we received. The following morning we just paid the final invoice to end the nightmare. The clerk promised to record the payment and email us a receipt for the credit card. This never happened. The following day my wife received a threating phone call again from the company about payment. I followed up with a phone call and they verified their mistake but still no apology. Nor was a credit card receipt received as promised. Stewart will promise to do anything you want on the sales call but the final product will be nothing like what was promised. The management at Stewart will never return your phone call or email unless you repeatedly call back. Stewart obviously takes no pride in the product they produce. Run to another company! After 8 years of service declining service and the worst customer service, I am done. My front lawn has been killed by them running a riding lawn mower over the hill and scalping the yard. They continually blow the grass cuttings toward the house and have caused damage to my siding. I cannot get a call back from anyone on their staff in any department and they will happily charge your credit card without permission and for service not performed. read more

The work was done on time, professionally, and the finished product looks great. The staff that did the work was very professional and answered all our questions. As expected on any project, there were some things that needed a little extra touch. The folks at Stewart addressed the issues we identified without question. Stewart has been taking care of my lawn and beds for the last couple of years. There has been a huge improvement in how my lawn looks. Crew comes out once a week like clockwork to cut the lawn and maintain the beds. Last Fall they installed a patio and fire pit for us. Stewart Lawn and Landscaping did a fairly large hardscaping job and rain garden for me last summer. I waited to post a review until I was sure the job held up, and it did, thus the review a year later. This was to replace 55-year-old concrete and resurface a slab, and to put stacked stone facing over old concrete block. There were tricky drainage aspects as the job is on a hill. I received multiple bids. Ron Stewart's ideas were very good and the price was fair. The work was well done. The crew were nice to work with. I was fortunate that we had a number of heavy rainstorms so I could talk with the foreman about where the water was going, and he was great about coming up with solutions. I can highly recommend this foreman, Rafael. Project management, on the other hand, was not good. They sent the crew a day earlier than scheduled (I sent them away and they were very nice about it). The project manager showed up on the first day and never again (2 week job -- I was there the entire time). He didn't even come at the end of the job to talk to me. I contracted for upgraded materials, and none of the upgraded materials arrived at the job. I didn't realize in one case that the materials brought were not as ordered, so I'm mad at myself as I didn't get exactly what I wanted. That aside, the company reduced the contract amount accordingly. I should have received an apology for this, but at least they did not hassle me over the amount. So, if you don't mind going into a job knowing that there will be some hassle, and if you can be on site for the job, you will probably find that you have high quality work for a fair price with this company. If you have to rely on project management to get things done right, I'm not sure your result would be as good as mine. read more

We have used this landscaping company for 5 years. Service and communication could be better. Their staff does not seem to correlate anything. We have tried for weeks to get them to finish the woods clean-up { they left all the brush and lawn clean-up around the edge of my yard. I have called and emailed 6 times. When their crew finally showed up and we walked around the yard with the crew head, we thought he understood, but they left after 10 minutes. They also harrass you if you have not paid your bill with-in 5 days.Very frustrated! On the positive, they do nice work when there is someone you can communicate with. read more

I cant even begin to fathom for you others who have had to deal with them for longer than a week. We had a few companies come out and give us an estimate for flower beds in our front yard and stone type patio off our deck in the back yard. We decided to go with Stewart because their price was the cheapest, their work looked great (from their facebook page) and the gentlemen who came out to our house was very nice and down to earth. Well, fast forward a week later, we received our quote and decided we only wanted to do the flower beds to start (the easier of the two) and we needed them down this week due to our sons birthday party. We were going to wait on the patio. We were told it shouldn't be an issue because it was a smaller job. Red flag # 1: We were told they weren't sure they could do our job now, because it would be hard for them to make more than one trip to Pasadena (they are out of Annapolis, lol). Our "new" quote came back and was only 200 less than our original quoted price...(hm, so you mean it only costs 200 to do our back yard patio, and over 800 for a small flower bed?) Needless to say we are GLAD we didn't go with this sketchy business, from unreturned phone calls, to speaking with multiple people who told us different things each time (when they would return our calls) looks like we dodged a bullet with this company. Just an FYI for those who aren't familiar with the distance between Annapolis and Pasadena it is exactly 13.6 miles away. 26 mins currently due to HEAVY traffic. If I am PAYING a company for their service, and they complain about driving 25 minutes in the SAME county, thereis a problem. I can tell you exactly what happened here. They wanted more money. They wanted us to do both things right away (and if it weren't for my son's birthday party, we would have lol) So instead of doing one job this week and the patio even the next week, they changed the entire amount. This company is not professional, courteous or reliable. We had landscape lighting installed. They never confirm when they are coming, just show up. They installed it improperly, and then sent us a bill for the full amount. Half of the lights are under powered and they want us to pay $500 more to fix the problem. Really bad service! read more

When we approached Stewart's about a landscape plan for our yard, and up front told them that we planned to execute much of the work, we were assured by Ron Stewart that they understood and would provide us with a detailed sketch for $250.00 that would include the elements that we were looking for. We paid for the plan in early November, and after months of delays and multiple attempts at persuading us to let them do the work, were presented with at best a scant, mediocre plan that has many blank or unidentifiable areas that we can't determine what is supposed to go there. I used Stewart's for 5 years. Mike one of the Mgr. called me at the end of the season to let me know that they weren't making any money from me cutting my grass on a bi-weekly basis. I called the office and talked to another Mgr. (Bill), who said he would need to talk to Mike and get back to me that afternoon. I never heard back, so I called him. Bill said that they didn't have any business in my neighborhood, so it wasn't worth it for them to cut my grass bi-weekly unless I went to weekly. Funny thing is, I see there trucks in my neighborhood all the time. I then wrote the owner Mr. Stewart a letter. It has now been around 3 months and never got a response from him. Poor customer service, poor communication and poor ownership. Found someone who is more then happy to take care of the lawn bi-weekly and in just one cut has done a remarkable job. Completely disappointed. Once they did they estimate and sent it over signed... it was like they did not care anymore. They never called to schedule, I had to call them 3 times. Then they did not show up and then I had to call again. They never call, like some one else said .. all you hear is crickets. Its the staff in the office that does not have their act together. The crew who installed were fine, even though they were not given instructions and I had to tell them about the other beds to clean out and put mulch. It is also very very disappointing that you pay all this money and they don't put weed barriers down at all or use new soil, So far its only been 3 weeks since they put down the new bed of flowers and weeds and old remnants of what was there before are popping up. Then I get the bill and mail it to their PO box that is on the bill and I get a curt email to call the office about my account. FINALLY someone contacted me ... but by email. So I call and tell them I mailed it 5 days ago. I literally paid the bill within 2 weeks of a meh job done and you are seriously going to send me a curt email about my account. Never again will I use you or recommend. You should think really start thinking hard as to why you have so many low reviews. I decided to give you a chance and I told the guy when I first met with you.. I was concerned about your reviews.. but man they are dead on. You need to take better care of your customers...and start training your office staff to speak to people with respect and courtesy. read more

If zero stars were an option I would have given them zero. Terrible service, nasty attitude, never completed the job but continue to send invoices to be paid for completion. I called them to fix a potential hole in the fence and then do some landscaping however they showed up without enough materials, created a new hole in the fence that I could not see allowing my four month puppy to get through to the fence behind where there was a big, unfriendly dog. I was all scratched up trying to get to him. They had the audacity to ask for more money to come back the next day with one panel of fence (that I had notified them of 4 times! I called the manager who blew me off for a 2 months! I had another company fix their mess. Two months later they started sending bills, I replied with a detailed letter but either their communication is that bad or they are just screwing people. read more

DO NOT HIRE Stewart Landscape. Why do I say that? Let me count the ways. But first, let me start with the positive. I hired Stewart to completely rework my front landscaping, which included a new paver walkway and plants. The walkway turned out great. The workers who built it did a great job. Now, the negative. Working with the people of Stewart is a nightmare. No returned phone calls. No replies to emails. Problems and concerns almost never addressed. As I write this, I'm still waiting for a return phone call from over a week ago from on-site project manger Austin and office contact Chris. Crickets. A few examples of how I reached the breaking point: A week after e-signing my contract and not hearing as much as a receipt confirmation, I sent them an email asking when I would see my final landscape plans, paver choices, start date, etc.. In response, I received a one sentence email telling me my start date. That's it. This meant more emails and phone calls to find out the other basic information. Phone calls rarely returned. Twelve days later, after numerous phone calls , paver samples were finally dropped off. Actually, one sample. In a choice of 2 colors. That's it. Quite the selection. I sent an email asking for more samples. No response. My next email was informing them I was pulling the plug on the project for lack of communication and my now loss of trust. That got a response. I was assured more samples would be delivered the next day, and to their credit, they were. When asked why only one stone was originally delivered, I was told that Ron, the owner and person who drew up the plan, thought that those pavers would work best with my house. Guess they assume the customer has no opinions or style ideas? We didn't use Ron's original pavers. There were several mis-communications during the building process. At one point I had to stop all work on the paver project until we could all meet in person at my house and speak in person. The problem was that nothing specific was put in the contract when it came to design, so when I initially walked though the design with Austin, the on-site manager, and discussed specific design elements, those thoughts didn't trickle down to the workers, and they had to re-do some of the paver work. Then the project was completed. But I didn't know it. It didn't look finished to me, but the workers stopped coming. There were several areas where it looked like plants should go that were just empty areas of mulch. Some plants were awkwardly placed. It's amazing to me that after paying a company over $15k for a front landscape overhaul, that I still have to go out to Home Depot and plant some more plants out front. They also planted some plants almost underneath a tree. Then I got a phone call from the front office asking for final payment and if everything was done satisfactorily. What? It's finished? No phone call from Austin to tell me they're done or final walk through? No explanation of what was planted or how to maintain them? The workers just stopped coming. I sent an email with photos outlining several things I wanted to have addressed, including putting back two very large and heavy flower pots back into position by the front door. They were left leaning awkwardly in the mulch bed. After a week of no response, I called Chris to ask if he saw the email, which he acknowledged. He tried getting Austin on the line for a 3-way conversation but was unable to. He promised he would have Austin call me directly. That was over a week ago. Still no call. But I did just receive an email proposal asking me to pay for 2 more plants to fill in one of the bald areas. Funny, I thought I just gave you $15k to plant plants. In conclusion, working with Stewart Landscaping was nothing short of a complete hassle and headache. Did they put in a nice paver walkway and put in some plants? Sure. But there are plenty of other companies out there who can do they same thing, Save yourself the hassle and headache. Call someone else. read more

This is a follow-up on my experience having Stewart L & L install some sod. After my initial review (5/11/2017), I emailed them pictures of the sod rolls prior to being installed - 78 rolls (780 sq feet) as stated in the contract. Only 650 sq feet of sod was installed - they took 13 rolls with them at the end of the install. The owner said they had purchased 13 extra rolls - just in cast they were needed. Was informed that he did care what the pictures showed or what the how many rolls were installed sod were counted. I had counted the pieces of installed sod. I rounded that up to 650 sq feet as I may have misjudged a couple of partial rolls during the count. Add that to the 13 rolls (130 sq feet) returned, you get the 780 sq feet as called out in the contract - no extra rolls of sod.... Not sure where that extra 13 rolls of sod went, but it was never brought on to my property, nor was I reimbursed for the 130 sq feet of sod and the labor to install it. Wish I had the installers do a sod roll count and both installers sign a written inventory.... Problem: The quality of materials and workmanship was poor at best. The "top soil" brought to the job site was junk fill dirt. It contained rocks, sand, branches and other debris. I informed the lead installer that it was unacceptable and to stop unloading it from the truck. The lead installer had called someone for instructions as what should be done. He informed me that he would have to go to a local nursery to get new top soil as instructed by his boss. Problem: The installers did not have a sod roller or sod tamper. I provided my tamper for the installers to use to ensure that the sod is solidly in contact with the soil surface and removes small bumps and air pockets as recommended by sod companies. Problem: Sod laid near the lawn surface drain created a barrier between the drain and the existing lawn. I had to pull half of this sod back, scraped off the top soil, and dig out a couple of inches of dirt to restore the drainage slope. Problem: Many gaps are visible between the pieces of sod - some are big. Some of the sod, the lower cut edge is visible above the old grass lawn. Problem: Many areas where the new sod meets the existing lawn, the new sod is above the existing lawn - the underside edge of the new sod is visible. Including most of the flat edging along the retaining wall. Problem: Sod laid near the lawn surface drain created a barrier between the drain and the existing lawn. I had to pull half of this sod back, scraped off the top soil, and dig out a couple of inches of dirt to restore the drainage slope. I did not expect that I would have to fill in so many gaps between pieces of sod, nor have to redo so much of the edging where new sod meets the existing lawn- just so bring the new sod level where it is not so far above the existing grass that it drys out and starts to die. Check out the pictures I posted on Angies List of the top soil they tried to use and some of the gaps in the sod Not sure what Stewart L & L did with all the sod that I can not find in my yard, but I know that I paid for it and the labor that would have installed it.... They have chosen to keep that as extra profit. I have no idea what what kind of experience you will have if you use them for sod work, but I know what my experience I had. The workers were extremely late completing the job and when it was completed it was not at all what I was expecting. I called the office to see what could be done to make the situation better and all I got was a run around with the staff. They just seem so unorganized with no real communication system between anyone. Overpriced services with bad office management ... Which with experience usually starts with poor owners who don't know what they're doing. Will be taking my landscaping needs elsewhere. read more

I believe this company has good ideas for landscape design but I was very dissatisfied with the way they performed our lawn fertilize and weed control six step program. Stewart lawn and landscaping did not inform us when they would service our lawn and did not put a stake in the grass signifying when they fertilized/put weed control on our lawn. I called to ask that they inform me if when they planned to treat our lawn as well as putting in the "this lawn has been treated" lawn stake but they didn't do it. I wanted to know so I could prepare for the treatment (remove items on lawn) as well as follow the recommended follow-up treatment for my lawn so that I may get the most out of our lawn treatment. When I finally received two bills from the Spring weed control as well as the Early summer fertilizer treatment, the bills had instructions as to when to cut my grass and that I should water my grass right away after treatment. I would have appreciated this valuable information in a timely manner, not months or weeks after the treatment. I a very frustrated and would NOT recommend this lawn company to anyone. When I called to cancel my service and explained why I was canceling, the lady who represented Stewart Lawn & Landscape didn't seem to care or offer an apology or try to win back my business. Pretty disappointing experience working with Stewart Landscaping. Ron Stewart put together a design for our front sidewalk and steps, and we had their project manager Austin supervising the install job. In the end, the job wasn't done to our satisfaction. The design simply doesn't work well for our yard. Additionally, throughout the job it was frustrating trying to communicate with project manager Austin. Even though we're not happy with the end result, we've decided to hire another landscaper to come in and finish the job rather than having Stewart's come back out. This company is terrible. I got an estimate, and was told an appointment would be made when the estimator got back to the office. Never had to do this before, but I had to give a deposit. Never got a call. Then I get a voicemail that the company would be at my house the following day to do work. That was my notice, less than 24 hours. Luckily I was off, waited for them all day and no one showed. What do you know when I look at my bank statement that the cash had been cashed. I called the company to complain and they told me it was my fault, and they had me in the books for another day and that it must have been my mistake. Lastly I got an email with a pictures of tress asking if that is what I wanted, no where in my service that I requested were there plants involved!!!! Called the company to complain cancel whatever make believe appointment they had written down and demand a refund..... here its been two weeks and the "owner" has never processed this refund. Not bad, but not the greatest, either. I had some sod installed in our back yard. The quoting process went well, but once I signed on and paid the deposit, I had a little trouble actually scheduling the job. The folks were not terribly helpful or responsive. I had to call them back a few times before finally getting a date. And that was pretty far out, although they did make an effort to move my job up a few days, which I appreciated. For the installation itself, they had assured me they could install sod without damaging the existing in-ground sprinkler system, but--go figure--they broke two sprinkler heads. They replaced one with a mismatched head and the other with nothing. So my new sod was getting completely flooded in one area and no water at all in another. Gave them a call, and they said they'd replace the heads, but they came out a week later than they said they would. And they replaced them--again--with two mismatched heads. So I called them back again, and they said they'd take care of it. Took over a week, and I was thinking of contacting the BBB or something. Then after at least a couple calls to their office, I finally learned that they didn't have the correct heads, so they placed an order for them. I have no problem with that, but it would have been helpful if they had called me to let me know. And that gets to the heart of the issue: their communication with their customers is lousy. From scheduling, to service-after-the-sale, they don't have much use for speaking with their customers. In the end, all worked out fine, but I need some other work done, and I'll be giving another company a try. read more

Stewart came out to my home to install an irrigation system in my beds, as well as provide me with multiple flowers and bushes to accent my yard Member Comments: It was amazing from the first contact with the girls in the office. I spoke with Trisha to set my appointment, and she was very professional and quick in setting the appointment-I had given her a strict timeline. I then (about 2 days later) met with Austin to go over the work I wanted, and a day later I received an estimate from Sara. I had a few questions,and revisions and Sara and Trisha both worked diligently to ensure it was handled efficiently-as I wanted this done before guests on Memorial Day arrived. The crew Austin brought out to install were quick and professional as well. They were very nice and made sure that they communicated with me every step of the way. I chose Stewart Landscape because of their great Angie's List reviews, and they service several houses in my neighborhood- the neighbors all speak highly of them. Upon turning on my sprinkler, I had some trouble- so they directed me towards Nicole, who I was told handles the complaints- She had Chris out the next day to help turn them on just in time for the weekend. We hired Stewart Lawn & Landscape to plan and install a landscape design to help with water runoff on a community property. Their plan not only did not prevent water runoff, but actually created problems that did not previously exist. When asked to fix the problem, they refused and told us it was not their problem. Do not under any circumstances hire this company! They do not know how to do landscape design and they do not stand behind their product. I'm writing this for my parents who would never write a review for a company- but I feel others need to know. As far as quotes and work goes, they were on time and never missed appointments. My parents basically had their entire lot redone- flower beds on both sides of the house and the front. They also had a patio installed where a deck once was. They had some sod put down in 4 different areas. Finally, they had raised beds built. They were promised the work would be done in 4 days. It took 2 weeks, but none of us really thought it would be 4 days. They put down large rocks as the landscape edging- which I love- but they only put the rocks down in about 1/3 of the edges, which is weird and incomplete looking. My parents assumed he didn't want to keep drawing little circles in the plans and that it would be done all the way around. It wasn't. They had a wide variety of plants planted. They are weirdly spaced. Some are too close together, some are too far apart. There are large, empty spaces where it looks like something is missing. 2 trees were planted and they died the next day. So they were obviously dead when planted. My parents went on a 2 week vacation and asked them to come back while they were gone to replace the dead trees and also plant some more plants where the large empty spaces are. They had 2 weeks to come back and do this, and promised they would. Well, my parents come home tonight and the landscaping is the same as when they left. It's work that my husband could have done for my parents (well, maybe not the patio). The sod is placed far apart from other pieces so it'll take a while before it looks like part of the lawn. The raised beds look like they just screwed some pieces of wood together- the edges are not level so it makes it look like a 5 year old did it. Steer clear of this company. I've used them for 2 years to fertilize and treat my lawn and it has never looked worse! Terrible communication between office workers. I would have to call and call if I had issues or questions, but rarely did I get a return call like I was promised. I would schedule an appointment for work with one person and then get emails and phone messages from another worker reminding me that I still need to schedule the day for my work. Then I would wonder if my appointment ever really got scheduled. So I would have to make yet another call to find out what was going on. And this wasn't the first time this happened. The worst is that I thought I was paying a professional to care for my lawn only to find out that they are using ordinary lawn products that you can purchase at Home Depot. THIS COMPANY IS A RIP-OFF. I'm going back to my previous lawn care company Blades of Green. They were a little more expensive which is why I changed. But I learned that a real professional lawn care company is worth a few dollars more. read more

Spoke to a "Manager", Ricky who came out to my house on July 15th. He saw the disaster of my backyard. He said I think you are missing something and we'll get that out here. I explained that I was looking for color, for flowers. I showed him pictures, I explained that their website boasts about Perennial gardens. He looked and said yea, it's definitely not flowers. I explained that even wildflowers would be great. He told me that within 2 weeks I'd see color, and I would be happy. Well approx 2 weeks they came out while I wasn't home. Planted some Forsythia bushes that were missing from the original order. Only they didn't finish planting. Left one in it's bucket, a hole that was half dug, and their shovel. I thought it's a hot day, perhaps they'll be back. Still no one came back. My daughter planted the remaining bush...which of course is green this time of year. I have no color in my backyard from Stewart. They just want to blame the girl who met with me. The company takes no responsibility, the manager didn't give me color as promised. You are better off picking your own flowers, and hiring some kid to plant them. I certainly did not receive "Landscaping advice or service". I would NEVER use them again. I also promised their "Manager-Ricky" that if they did make it right I'd state that on my review. If he didn't do as promise I would blast them here and every chance I get with everyone I know. Shameful to take money, no follow up, and not to do as promised. Their website is a sham....it's obvious they don't know what flowers are, or what landscaping is. read more
