She explained that her mother was the other owner and a long time potter. There were several pottery wheels that were available for folks to try their hand at forming something with clay. They had a large spread of snacks to mark the celebration. And they were all on handcrafted dishes!! The creations of students were displayed on shelving. I usually book with Jillian & have had nothing but amazing things to say & am always happy with the result! Last week I decided to book a haircut with another student named Aurora. She was very sweet and attentive to me & made me feel like I was in good hands. She gave me an amazing haircut but ever since I have felt very off about the behavior of the instructors... one instructor by the name Justina was very openly rude to Aurora when she was asking for help and as I am hard of hearing she made me feel very belittled by crouching down to hear me and being in my face a little too close for comfort and shouting. although I am hard of hearing I do not need somebody to yell in my ear. I also noticed the students energy shift as soon as she came over it seemed like a very toxic student-instucor enviorment- Justina came over a few times to check on my haircut but seemed very rude to my stylist & the way she communicated with her was very unpleasant. Again, I love my haircut just not the bad energy from the instructors, I have witnessed this before but most of the instructors have always been very patient and welcoming with me ESPECIALLY the student- except for this time. I am more than pleased with the result of my haircut and am very greatful for Auroras patience and respect just not so much the instructor and won't be returning back.

When she first began, she only created one simple form of finished work, but they encouraged her over s long period of time to branch out, and now she creates art in many different ways: painting, weaving, ceramics and more. And on the more practical side, Spindleworks has a store that you have to visit. The products are unique and expressive, and a good percentage of the purchases goes to the artists, as it should be. A new twist is that after you are done shopping in the store itself, you can explore the entire artist facility, as they also have items for sale on display in all the art rooms.

They cater equally to both adult and youth and I've seen people from their late 50s to kids seemingly as young as 10 taking a variety of lessons here. I wanted to obtain good, reputable piano lessons for my partner as a birthday gift. He's academic minded and I knew I needed to find some place professional. Midcoast's Portland campus is located in an otherwise inconspicuous building above a private, classic car collector's showroom. There are signs on the side of the building and dedicated parking and classes are given throughout most days and evenings. One of the principal partner owners, Matt Fogg, could not have been more helpful and accommodating when I set up the first few lessons which my partner plans on extended into weekly lessons. Lesson scheduling is easy and flexible and the rates, while varying, are incredibly affordable. After looking around the area for music lessons, this place was a score. The location is very accessible to 302, but secluded back away from traffic. The kids especially love the large outdoor play areas. As healthcare workers who work varying schedules including holidays, it has been such a relief to find someone with minimal holidays, rarely closes for snow, and who will be able to provide a care option for the random days that school is closed now that our oldest will be starting Kindergarten. We truly don't know how we would have made it through the ongoing pandemic without the love and consistency they provided for our kids, allowing both parents to continue working where we were needed. The staff here have made us feel like family, and we can't thank them enough.

The staff here is nothing short of remarkable. Within days of starting the teacher reached out to us simply because she wanted to meet and learn more about our son and his family! Her energy is contagious and it's clear she loves what she does. I worked in the industry when I was in my twenties and there were a lot of teachers who showed up because it was their job. Mrs. Hanscome showed me what it looks like when teachers show up because they love teaching and not at all because it's their job. When her students go home in the afternoon, she spends the rest of her day thinking about every interaction she had with them and considers how to keep building from where they're at. She spends her weekends looking for any resources she can bring into the classroom that would help enhance each child's experience. If she has a student who is struggling she turns every stone looking for techniques they can use to ensure the child gets everything they need to be successful in learning and growing. When she's out and about she's constantly seeing things that remind her of her kids and gets excited to tell them what she saw. Mrs. Hanscome is always thinking about her students. She isn't just concerned with how her kids thrive in her class, she's focused on supporting them so they thrive everywhere they are.
