On this glorious Sunday, let me review live rom The Orchard in Stillorgan ! This is a great occasion to have dinner with my boyfriend's family and - especially - watch the Kerry vs Dublin gaelic football match. In fairness, I didn't even know it was on ! My boyfriend's mom just dropped a bombshell of a joke : She : Is it the second half of the game? Her husband : Nop it's actually just the beginning of the first half ! 1* For service : The drinks arrived in no time and the food followed shortly after that. Amazing service ! 1* For the quality of the food : We had Fresh Cod Goujons, Spicy Beef Burrito, and Sweet Chilli Chicken wraps. Everyone agreed that their meal was really tasty ! For desert we tried the Chocolate Fudge Cake, the Apple Pie, and icecream. #nomnomtime 1* For the place : This is a family place. People of all age come for a drink or food, watch a match on TV, chill out on a Sunday afternoon. 1* For the seats : All the chairs have a padded seat, so have the benches. Everything is made to make you feel comfortable and want - unconsciously - to stay more ! 1* For the experience : Great people. Great service. Great food. Great seats. A real favourite when I was living out that direction. The Orchard is still one of the best examples of a really good suburban pub. In an area where there are few places to get decent grub. Probably its biggest selling point besides the modern, comfortable decor is the high quality food menu. No Lasagne and soggy chips here. I'm a big fan of the chicken tenders, the BLT and their chips are fantastic as well. Its big portions so you won't go hungry. Deserts are all great as well and change depending on the day. A great spot for lunch or dinner, if its sunny they have a terrace. Even if your not eating its still a great pub to have a pint in or watch a match. Be warned it can get busy for lunch, with office workers from Sandyford and Stillorgan descending on the place most days. They've started charging for parking as well in the last few months. read more

John S was right, this is a spot that is favoured by office workers from sandyford, i was one of them once! going to the orchard was a treat, the lunch menu is really good and will have you all set for the rest of your day at work. They will also take bookings for groups, in my current job my team went out for a dinner together, the whole dinner ran smoothly and the food was yummy ! the desert was very tasty too so make sure you leave room for it! I have never just gone here for a drink but i know by having walked through the pub after eating in the restaurant that it is the type of pub i would definitely stay in for an evening of quiet pints. read more

Easily one of the best known pubs in the city, a landmark even! It is nicely decorated and comfortable but not in the old Irish style pub way you would imagine from the outside, more modern than that. The food is grand for lunch but I wouldn't rate is as a place to go for dinner (unless by dinner you mean lining for your stomach before you horse 12 pints into it). What a cosy cute pub :) was there this week for the first time but defo coming back here, nice easy lunch menu, the Shepard's pie is amazing btw! They are extremely quick! Wow, we had to wait only about 10 minutes until the food was arriving in our table and it was a very busy lunch time, but these guys obviously have done organisational talent. Too bad the pub is out in Dublin 18 and I only work there, the weekends might be quite cool in there too. Friendly staff and good prices! read more

I find the Stillorgan Orchard to be a good old reliable when it comes to going for a drink in stillorgan. Its very comfortable, nice an cosy feeling and not too crowded (at least not when I have been there). Its the perfect place to go for a nice old quiet drink and a girly catchup! Its also lovely that the bar staff serve the tables, making the ordering of another round too easy altogether! read more

I came here twice during a recent visit to Ireland; it seems like a low-key reliable choice for locals seeking a cosy night out without much fuss - and plenty of free parking, which is quite a draw here. The menu selection is okay and leans toward traditional pub fare. There aren't really any healthy choices, but the pavlova dessert is absolutely delicious! Overall the opportunity to improve lies with the salad and veg - both times I ordered dishes that included salad and both times the plate arrived with a few lonely greens dripping in heavy dressing. "Fresh" crab salad turned out not to be so fresh - it had seen better days. Items that include "vegetables" are swimming in oil and way overcooked, so maybe my expectations are not realistic? It was August, so I assumed fresh veg wouldn't be so difficult to procure. Also - the washrooms are lovely but could use a good scrub and fresh supplies. read more

The Orchard is a local of mine. I've been going there for many years now and for the most part, I like what I see. It's great to see them keeping with the times stocking a number of craft beers in bottles and even a few on tap (I do get tired of seeing all the usual suspects). The service has always been good, the staff friendly and the food served promptly but something's changed. A couple of friends and myself popped in for food one evening. I ordered the burrito while the others ordered carbonara and chicken tenders. The carbonara came with a choice of bacon OR chicken when it should really come with both. My friend choose bacon but said the flavor was bland. The tenders were average but my burrito... Wow... that's hot... Don't get me wrong, I love hot food but that wasn't what I ordered or expected. If it had been listed as "Blow Your Brains Out Hot Chilli Burrito" I'd only have myself to blame. A burrito should be more about flavor and less about heat. As I said I like hot food so I did eat it but my plate was left oily so there had clearly been too much used. After my first couple of bites a recalled my mother had ordered the burrito a couple of months before but had to send it back because she couldn't eat it. I said to waiting staff that I wasn't giving out or complaining but felt they would benefit from the feed back. She told me a new chef had started and that was the way he made it. She admitted it was far to hot for her too. She said she would pass on my feedback to management. I give the Orchard 3 1/2 stars as it is. A few tweaks in the kitchen and it could be 4 star easy. read more

I visited the orchard for, perhaps the first time in 20 years for breakfast Recently and was horrified to that you charged me 5.80 euro for two Cups of tea extra and above. Nice atmosphere but the food is dreadful. We were served a burger which was gone off, we sent it back to be replaced with a stale ham sandwich. Chicken curry was dreadful too. I wouldn't be returning for food. Pity. read more

I have eaten here a few times since moving to Stillorgan three years ago. The atmosphere is great to unwind, have a glass of wine & enjoy some great food. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I have never had to wait long for my meal to arrive and theportion sizes are on the generous side.A great place to meet with the girls for lunch and have a chat. read more

Very good place apart from the loyalty card. Don't be fooled. Myself and the Mrs started going there about 18 months ago and thought it was nice. They gave us a 'loyalty card' so we started to go more often on account of it hoping that one day we would have a nice meal in return for our custom. After about a year we tried to redeem the loyalty card but were advised to 'build more points' to get more stuff, starters/bottle of wine etc. After a few more visits we thought we might just redeem it anyway as we definitely chose the orchard over other places on account of having the card. The staff must have seen us at least once a fortnight!! Anyway, one evening we decided to go for it one more time but found two staff members very rude when we tried to redeem. One of them saying he was 'too busy' to check our points. We decided there and then to pay for our meal and to never call back again. They can keep their 'free meal' and bad manners. read more

Had thhe most dissapointing steak sandwhich on sunday night. I asked for a steak sandwhich and got 2 soggy pieces of bread and litteraly 2-3 slivers of steak. Was extremely dissapointed as i was starving! read more

I am just home from lunch with my mother. The Orchard would be a regular spot that we would go to for lunch for many years now. Today we both ordered the roast beef, which was pretty bad as was the tasteless veg. We told the waitress the food wasn't great and she just sniggered. When we were finished, we repeated that the food was pretty awful and received yet another snigger. We went to pay and my mother approached the barman to explain how dissatisfied she was. He brought out the manager who immediately went on the defensive. To make a long story short, we were accused on more than one occasion that we were just trying to get a free meal as well as lying about what had happened. The "manager" did not apologise once, nor did he seek to even attempt to resolve the matter. We had no intention of not paying, but due to the treatment we received we didn't. After over 20 years of going to The Orchard, I certainly shall not be bringing my business back there. Truly disgusted with the treatment we received. read more

I stopped at this 'Gastro Pub' for some grub. This is what should not be allowed to be described as a gastro pub. Food arrived quickly and was barely ok, but just ok, I was hungry. Nothing special. I had the beef burrito with rice. Thai jasmine rice - I love that rice, but not with a burrito. I was expecting something like rice cooked with spices and tomato, ala mexican rice you can get recipes for on the internet, but no, just a plain portion of jasmine rice, no sauce, no vegetables, nothing. A burrito should come with guacamole, salsa, refried beans, but no, just a slice of melted cheese on top and a small portion of soured cream that obviously came from a bottle, commercially made and disgusting. Mine just had some chili con carne wrapped up in a tortilla wrap. Oh sorry, there were some vegetables, a PINCH of sliced cabbage. Whether that was there by accident or design I don't know, but it was just a pinch. Stillorgan Orchard - cop on. If you want to be described as a Gastro Pub then you have a very long way to go to achieve the standards of Ashtons of Clonskeagh, because you are just a very ordinary overpriced pub-grub pub. read more
