For our 1st night in Dublin we basically threw a dart at a dartboard & ended up at Baileys for Dinner. We sat outside in their patio area on a busy pedestrian street on a beautiful night so it was a good start. We ordered the Beef & Guinness Stew & Fish & Chips. Our order came quite quickly & the service overall was very good but the food itself was average at best so we were slightly disappointed. Overall nothing stood out whatsoever, pretty ordinary. This restaurant is placed in an amazing area and it's beautiful to sit outside and see people pass by but keep in mind that due to its locations prices are definitely higher than most other places. The drinks are actually really good and the service is top notch. But the food could be better in my opinion. I ordered a strew and while the bread with butter on the side was delicious, the stew itself was a bit gamey, the meat a bit tough and has that meat taste that tells you the food wasn't properly seasoned? Idk how to explain it. My friends ordered sandwiches and salads and those seemed to be better but still overpriced. Come for the vibes, stay for the drinks. Ceaser has been accompanied with bacon which adds salty taste as they don't use anchovies. Wish Guinness taste was more pronounced in the beef stew. Came here with a group of mates. Could've been a better experience, but overall an enjoyable time. The food here was alright, I ordered the BLT for €9. Got two cheap sándwiches that are oftentimes found in stores wrapped in cellophane. A little overpriced but tasted good. My mates also liked their dishes, but thought it was a little overpriced. Would come here for the bar aspect though. The service was alright, they kept offering us different seating arrangements which was nice but a tad tedious. Additionally, the staff were hard to get a hold of when we needed them and had to ask a few times for the tab when we were done. Also had a hard time figuring out which food was who's. As a restaurant stick to being a bar. This place had potential with an outside patio however it was full so we ended up inside, unfortunately all the wait staff were outside. After a long wait we ordered the fish and chips and Ploughmans, traditional dishes you can't go wrong with or so we thought. Ploughmans- read ham sandwich in ciabatta. Never seen a Ploughmans like that. Quick Google search should help the chef. Fish and chips - fish was great but when every other restaurant in Ireland is serving hand cut chips rather than frozen fries this leaves a lot to be desired. Baileys should stick to being a bar rather than trying to be an upscale eatery with downscale food. Lots of really decent restaurants nearby, I would recommend you choose somewhere else. read more

I would be a frequent customer of The Bailey. Some of my friends hate coming here because it has a pretentious reputation but I love the service, location and the quality of the drinks. This is by far my favorite place to grab a drink on Grafton St. since it allows you to sit outside (under heat lamps if it's cold) and watch the pedestrians go by. This is a very popular after work drinking spot and it can get packed on Friday evenings. I'd recommend getting here around 4pm and grabbing an outdoor seat on Fridays since it'll definitely get busy by half five. A friend lured me here late one evening and it was a thoroughly unremarkable experience apart from my high level of anxiety over getting stopped by the Matrix-esque security guards over of my scruffy shoes. It has a really extensive outdoor seating area that stretches right out onto Duke Street which is always buzzing of an early evening. An impromptu mini Easter Monday pub crawl started here at The Bailey and all because the in laws needed a cuppa and a sit down after checking out some of the 1916 festivities in the area. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :P While two coffees were the choice of some, I opted for the Irish version of the cup of joe and my hubby a cider. Staff were very attentive and the order came quickly. A tad pricey here, but I wouldn't really expect anything else from a bar situated just off Grafton Street. Hooray for large green olives as one of the options. It was just the perfect spot to linger and nibble and warm up from the cold on a Feb afternoon. And service went above and beyond, as well. 4 days after we'd been here, my pal realized she'd left behind her shopping bag with some children's books for her daughter. She emailed Bailey and they still had the items in their "lost and found" storage. She was able to make arrangements via email to collect her forgotten items in a few days when we'd next be in Dublin. Hooray. Lots of outdoor patio seating, with complementary blankets and several heat lamps. I was initially baffled why folks would sit outside on a freezing February afternoon, but then I realized they were smoking. So it's nice that the establishment makes this as pleasant as possible. Then I had the Irish beef stew which was around $14 and tasted good but wished there was a little more in it but very filling. Location was easy to get to. Lighting is just right and the windows open out on to Duke street, excellent for gawking at the talent or laughing at drunks teetering in their garish heels (yes I am a judgmental cow). The Guinness was alright, I stuck to Becks. Service was professional but not overtly friendly. Crowd was mid twenties to late thirties. My partner for the night remarked that it felt like a lot of folks from the country were there. I can't say I noticed. There were a lot of beautiful people and then there were the nurses outside the loo cubicles that chatted about marriage and babies whilst their friend puked everything she had out. 'Is Mary getting married?!!' 'Oh my God is Paula pregnant again?!!!' 'Love your dress, what hospital are you working for now?' 'St James like Sorcha,' she shouts over the door to a puking Sorcha, 'isn't that right Sorcha? We have the craic don't we luv?'
