I recently visited this salon for a haircut and, unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations. I came in with long, thick hair and clearly explained that I wanted to maintain my length with long, blended layers, along with a trim to my bangs and front pieces. I specifically requested that the length be kept around mid-back. However, the result was significantly shorter than discussed--ending just past my shoulders--and the layering was not blended. Instead of a seamless transition, there were very visible separations between layers, which made the haircut look uneven and choppy. A couple of days later, I returned to give the stylist an opportunity to correct the issue. I appreciated her willingness to try and fix it, and she seemed confident in doing so. However, despite the effort, the haircut still lacked proper blending and did not achieve the intended look. I don't typically leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience, especially for those with thick hair that requires careful layering and blending techniques. While the service itself was polite, the overall result did not reflect the level of skill or attention to detail I was hoping for. I really stumbled on this place by chance today and they were able to squeeze me in the same day because of a cancellation, so it worked perfectly. I've been getting highlights in my hair for 10+ years now and this was one of the best experiences I've had at a brand new place that hasn't worked with my hair before. I had my 1st appointment at Stilo ever with America today, 12/30/17. She really listened to what my needs were, what I like, and what I disliked about my previous cut and color. During the appointment she was friendly and talkative but also gave me downtime to read a magazine while my hair processed. America was lighthearted, funny, friendly, and most importantly she was knowledgeable about hair design and color. She gave me exactly what I asked for- cut off several inches, make it able to be easy to fix for everyday wear but not a blunt plain cut, color that has depth and looks close to my natural color bc I don't have time or money to come to a salon every 6 weeks. I asked what services they offered and she said hold on and hung up the phone on me and then wouldn't answer until I called from my fiancés phone. I was referred to see Carmen and I am so glad I took the chance! She is super sweet and did an amazing job (I am super picky too!). Carmen has been the first person to EVER cut my hair the way I've wanted it. Every other hair salon has told me my hair would not work with the cut I wanted and I always left unhappy. I just recently moved to the El Paso area from Florida and hadn't had a hair cut in over 2 months. I wear my hair in a short pixie style hair cut which regularly needs maintenance and can be quickly misshaped and butchered when cut by the wrong hands. With that said I was very particular when looking for a place to have my hair done. I found this salon on Yelp with not many reviews but each one singing its praises. Both the Yelp profile as well as their website had lots of information and pictures of what they had to offer. I called a day prior to when I was looking to make an appointment and they were able to put me in the day and time that was convenient for me. They are located on the west side when I live on the east, and let me tell you, they are worth any amount of driving time. While the salon is small in size the name/ building is easily seen from the street so you aren't searching in circles. The salon was clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked with anything you may need during your service. America was my stylist and seemed very knowledgable and easy going. I was able to give her an idea of what I wanted/ usually had done. She also asked follow up questions to ensure I got exactly what I was looking for. Both the staff and the ladies having their hair done were very friendly, fun, and easy to talk with. We all exchanged tips on fun things to do in the area and easily/ quickly became friends. As clients came and went I noticed they had a very loyal clientele. America did an amazing job giving me exactly what I wanted and then-some. The staff regularly goes to hair shows both in the states and in Italy to stay up to date on all the new styles and techniques of the day. America made me feel so welcomed and was eager for me to come again to experiment with new trendy colors after their next show. Ii would give a O rating if possible. I absolutely do not recommend Stilos. I went to the salon for several years. When the stylist I used left, I went with Carmen and I was satisfied with her work. Today I called for an appointment and was told "they didn't feel they were the right stylist for me and I made them uncomfortable." I was stunned and shocked. I did nothing that would make them uncomfortable I am not demanding. I cannot imagine what would warrant such hateful and hurtful comments and animosity. When I questioned them further, they changed their story. They said Carmen was trimming her clients and I was dropped. I am older and perhaps they want a younger, hipper clientele. So, if you want a warm and welcoming experience, steer clear of the divas at Stilos. Besides being unprofessional, the parking is inadequate. Furthermore, very pricey! read more

I cannot support a business that discriminates or makes a person feel unwelcome, and Stilo will never get my business again. I went to Stilo a couple of times about two years ago. The first time I only got a cut and color, and it was fine. The next time I went, the same stylist cut my hair shorter on the right side and pretty much fried my hair. My sister had her hair hair done by Carmen at Stilo, and it looked nice, but was pretty pricey, so I called and got an appointment with Carmen because the stylist who damaged my hair had moved on. This morning, my sister called to make an appointment with Carmen and they told her, "we feel we are not the right place for you. You made us feel uncomfortable." My sister was stunned, as was I. My sister is a quiet generous person, not a menacing or demanding client. The only thing we can think of is we are older, and maybe they do not want to be known as "an old ladies shop". Needless to say, I called and canceled my appointment and told them why. Besides being unprofessional, the salon has inadequate parking. read more

As an update, in April 2018 I myself went to get my hair colored (color correction) after a different stylist did a poor job. Carmen has not only been doing an amazing job for my mom for the past two years, but did a fantastic job correcting my color! She added low lights for depth and dimension, highlights and toned my hair until it was back to its fantastic bright blonde color! I loved it! And she just is such a lovely person - I felt right at home! Great job Carmen & team! Btw- my dad, who is very willing to make a blunt remark if he doesn't like it, was very impressed, calling me "Jennifer Aniston" all evening and saying how fantastic I looked! After reading the reviews I made an appointment for my 91 year old mother-in-law. She was moving to Assisted Living and wanted a "new" look. Everyone at Stilo was wonderful to her. They pampered her and Carmen gave her the new, updated look she desired. Then Carmen suggested I might like a new style also. I realized I'd been in a rut with my hair style. She knew exactly what she wanted to do with my hair. I made an appointment for the following week. Carmen did a fantastic job. She cut, colored and highlighted my hair.
