She dreams up the most interesting projects from scrapbook pages to mixed media albums and canvases. Her eye for design and color are one of the reason I shop there. I'm not always the best at deciding what goes with what. Michelle takes all the struggle out of that, for me, by organizing her store by theme and color. She strategically places the right embellishments with the right papers. I love this! I also spend too much! Another thing Michelle does is sponsor a three-day retreat in the spring and fall at Fin and Feather in Tahlequah, OK. I haven't been to one yet, but I'm signed up to go in April 2015. Can't wait! Everyone who has been signs up to go again, so it must be fun!

Since I was in Tulsa, close to Ziegler Art & Frame, I ran it in there to have the back replaced because the lady said she could do it without leaving the print. Having shopped at Ziegler's for over 40 years, I knew they would do a great job, and I fully expected it to cost a bit more; maybe $10-15. Was I shocked!! I walked out of the door with a new paper back for $37.98. What was even worse, I went to check out their ready made frames because I have three prints that I need to get framed. The thousands of exquisite ready made frames have been replaced with art supplies, and the ready mades were reduced to a miniscule number of frames moved to the NE part of the store. So sad. =..(

I took this as a sign and finally checked it out. I'm so glad I did! It was a slow day so I took my time to walk all around the store while asking questions. Turns out it's an artist co-op nonprofit. Several artists came together to start it in 2020 to showcase unique creations and offer one-of-a-kind, handmade and specialty items from 40+ local artists and artisan makers. The name was inspired by Leon Russell's "Hummingbird" song, which is appropriate since the Church Studio is a block away. You can find a wide array of items, from clothing and jewelry, to glasswork, mosaics, pottery, photographs, woodwork, and more. I found a really cute fall mini frame, bead earrings, and a sun catcher, all one of a kind, beautiful, and affordable. If you like a particular artist, they have all their cards at the register. They accept special requests and commissions, and are also able to ship. They display artwork from Tulsa Public School students and have special art events, and workshops. But with great craft talent comes great crowds seeking Christmas presents or home decor items; this place was PACKED. I almost lost my mind in the shuffle and press of people looking at the booths. The organizers should consider spreading out the exhibits a little more to make the experience less claustrophobic.

It was my first year going and I was impressed with everything I saw. Admission is $5, which lets you in the whole weekend (Thanks Yelp for the free tickets!!). The first 50 people on Friday got a swag bag that was supposedly filled with amazing things. I wouldn't know since I didn't get one - not that I'm bitter or anything (F.Y.I. Getting there RIGHT when it opens = too late for the freebies. The lobby was PACKED before the doors were even open). Saturday afternoon, they have free crafting sessions (specific crafts to be made/schedule is on their website). Saturday night, they have a fashion show. The only thing I really, really hated was how packed it was. A show like this REALLY needs a bigger space. Often, I couldn't even look at a vendor's booth because there were SO many people/booths were TINY. Luckily, crowds started to thin out an hour into the event. Another downside is parking downtown....hopefully you're lucky enough to find a street spot. If not, you can take a chance like me and park in a random parking lot...and hope your car doesn't get towed.

They frequently have sales with drastic price cuts. Their canvases were recently 70% off! You can get a credit card with an immediate 20% discount and it has built in discounts on everyday items. They have an app with a great reward system (you can have rewards without the app, but the app really simplifies everything.) The sales staff is always friendly and helpful. Their framing department is second to none. Framing is much more expensive than Hobby Lobby, but you truly get what you pay for. Most of my Hobby Lobby frames have looked cheap and one even fell apart. Michael's did an incredible job on helping me make decisions and then framing my deceased dad's military shadow box. I (Carolyn Grundy) purchased a Singer sewing machine on Friday 9/12/25 @HobbyLobby 3132 E 51st St…read more when I attempted to sew, the needle broke, after breaking about 5 brand new needles I attempted to investigate by removing the needle plate. I was only able to remove one screw it was as if the other screw was glued or soldered down. I packed the sewing machine back into its original box. On Monday 9/15/25 I took it back to @hobbylobby and the manager Gary happened to be standing at the entrance who kindly advised @hobbylobby does not accept returns on sewing machines. He stated @hobbylobby has signage posted indicating NO Returns, of course I never saw any such posting. Gary stated I would have to return it to the manufacturer @singer. I then called @singer only to be told that is incorrect as @singer only accept returns if purchased online. I then called @hobbylobby corporate office & asked to speak with a supervisor or manager. Dallas answered my call, I asked her if she was either her response was YES. I proceeded to tell her my concerns. She stated @hobbylobby policy is that returns has to be sent back to the manufacturer @singer as that is in the contract between @hobbylobby and @singer. Dallas @hobbylobby called me again on Tuesday 9/16/25 at which time she asked for my email address to send me the website for the warranty division @singer. They wanted me to repack the machine and send it to the nearest warranty center, which by the way is located in Overland Park Kansas. It is not my responsibility to send it out. Remember it is brand new. It needs to be returned to @hobbylobby. Both companies state returns go to the other. On last evening I sent an email to @hobbylobby, @singer, along with two of Tulsa's local news stations. @singer responded to me with one question "how may I assist you"? I responded I simply wanted to return the machine for a refund. @singer then quoted their policy which is products has to be returned to the place of purchase. I called corporate @hobbylobby again, spoke with Dallas again at which time I asked to speak with her manager. Melissa @hobbylobby got on the phone. After I gave her some background, her response was to tell me what their policy is, but now she says they would accept it had it not been opened. I'm just trying to understand how would I know it was a defective product without opening. I told her with her being a manager @hobbylobby all she had to do is call the manager @hobbylobby in Tulsa and tell him/her they were making an exception to allow me to return it . She then stated that is not possible. Hobby Lobby is a $72 billion industry. I'm simply asking for a refund of less than $500 for a defective product they bought from the manufacturer and sold to me. Their return policy prohibits me from returning it back to them because I opened the box. Hobby Lobby says they are committed to the Lord in ALL they do by operating the company in a manner consistent with Biblical principles.
