The window was completely down within the door, wide open and we were heading to Pittsburgh for the next college tour. The weather was calling for downpours of rain of biblical proportions and we were desperate. We proceeded to phone and beg for help from around 5 diff auto repair shops and were told they were either too busy or the mechanics had left. As we drove we saw Starks. Yes, he was closing, but Will took a look and proceeded to get us back on the road! He was able to get the window back in place so that we could get where we needed to go without getting soaked. Fixing the window was no easy feat, but he did it with patience and a smile and we are forever grateful to him for helping out stranded New Yorkers when no one else was willing. Will Stark obviously has the work ethic that has fallen by the wayside in current times. People in State College, PA are lucky to have this wonderful auto specialist for themselves. He is one of a dwindling breed of people who provide true service and care more for their customers than the time clock and money. We wish him the best!

Lo and behold, my AC decides to crap out during this hot, hot summer. A friend suggested a mom and pop shop near campus. After giving them a call, I was informed that they did not work on AC units. I then asked if there was any shop in the area they could suggest. The gentleman on the other line recommended Sharer's Automotive. I immediately gave them a call. The receptionist, Tracy, was so helpful and sweet. Thankfully, I was able to schedule an appointment for the same day (or else I would've had to drive back home to Maryland in the scorching heat!). Jared, the owner and mechanic, explained to me what was potentially happening with my car. He informed me that to know for sure whether or not there was a leak, he would need to place a special dye in the system. Jared flushed out the AC system and added refrigerant. I then scheduled a follow-up. I went back yesterday to have my AC checked. Jared found some minor leaks and gave me a pair of neon yellow glasses to see for myself (which was pretty cool, I might add!). Oftentimes, mechanics may push for unnecessary repairs and upsells. However, I am pleased to tell you that this was not the case at Sharer's Automotive. Jared was very honest, and the prices were fair. I'm delighted to have found this garage!

I called to set up an appointment around 2pm and was told by JR (body shop manager) that he could take me the very next day! I was so shocked and happy. I brought my car in the next morning. JR and the rest of the staff were very kind as I had no clue what I was really doing. JR called me when it was finished and even called the insurance company on my behalf to complete payment while I was attending class. When I picked up my car, it looked amazing. They washed it too - which was a nice bonus because even my own dealership won't do that unless I specifically ask! I was extremely thrilled with JR's service and the entire experience with Blaise. We worked with both Jim Sr. and Jim Jr. on a title transfer for a vehicle that was purchased out of…read morestate. That transaction turned out to be much more complicated than expected because the seller provided inaccurate and incomplete paperwork. Both Sr. and Jr. were patient and professional. Because of their experience, they were able to unravel the issue and resolve it. Lohr's probably invested 3-4 hours on our title transaction and charged us a very fair and honest price for all their work and their expertise. More recently, we were closing on a property sale and needed to have some documents notarized. We actually took the documents to another Notary first. After watching my wife and I spend about an hour reviewing 240 pages of documents to make sure everything was in order, the Notary finally mentioned their price, which was $15 per notarization. In the end, this transaction would have cost us almost $200 for their services. I remembered Lohr's and called them on my cell phone. Jim Jr. picked up. He let me know they had closed for the day, but even so, he asked about our situation. I explained we had a very short window to have the documents notarized and then delivered overnight. He probably recognized the stress in my voice. Without hesitation, he offered to drive back to their office and open just for my wife and I to get our documents notarized. When we walked in, I noticed the engraved sign on the counter, detailing all their fees for various services. As Jim Jr. worked through the documents carefully, he pointed out several missing initials, which we then corrected. He explained the entire process and his fees, even though they were clearly posted. He was thorough, courteous and respectful of our time constraints. When it came time to figure the bill, Jim Jr. charged us a flat fee for all of the work, rather than a per document fee. He explained that the 'per document' fee makes sense when a customer has only a few documents to be notarized. However, he recognized that because our two documents included 6 notarizations each, that it would be fairer to charge a flat fee rather than per document. He wouldn't have had to do that. Honestly, at that point my wife and I were so grateful that he was willing notarize the documents on our very tight timetable, that we would have gladly paid the higher fee. In the end, we paid less than half of what we would have been charged at the other place, even though the personal service we received was 10x greater. In this day and age, customer service is almost non-existent. It is rare to find a business of any size that is truly willing to put the customer experience ahead of everything else. Lohr's certainly did that and more. They take a personal interest in their customers and that made all the difference to us. We are customers for life and greatly appreciate the honesty and integrity of both Jim Sr. and Jim Jr.
