Anytime I can stop by Stocks I will. Their pound cake is the very best I've ever eatten. I buy a brick every chance I get and store slices in the freezer. Their cookies are so good too!

Stock's is one of my family's favorites. We love how the pound cake is consistently good every time. We recently tried their donuts and sticky buns. Wow they were OUT of this world, like AMAZING. The place has such great prices for what you are getting. Staff are friendly. Only complaint is cash only but that won't keep me from going back!

Stocks is the best neighborhood bakery! It has the old school vibe. The staff are helpful and nice. The pound cake is famous throughout the Philly area. If your family is from the Riverwards, this cake is at every party! It is delicious. While pound cake may be their claim to fame, the molasses cookies are a special fall treat. At $10/lb it is a good deal! The lemon meringue pie is also delicious with a creamy lemon filling. The meringue to lemon filling ratio is perfect! So go for the pound cake but check out the other goodies too!

This place is nothing fancy on the outside but when you walk in the smell is intoxicating. So much to choose from. We chose a couple of apple danishes for breakfast. The powder sugar coating would be mine. Love the taste of not being over sweet. I'm from the south where everything is over sweet. . We were told they are known for their pound cake. To buy it by the slice you can go next door at the deli & buy it. So we did. It was buttery & moist. So good! They also had cakes and pies for sell that looked delicious too. Swing by and enjoy something delicious You will not be disappointed.

Stock's Bakery is a family tradition, a legendary Port Richmond neighborhood bakery that has earned a place in pound cake history. Founded in 1924 by Josef Stock, the bakery spans 5 generations of family, quite an achievement. They began selling pound cake around 1945, a dessert traditionally made at home. I'm so glad they did! The joint is small, clean, and homey. The staff members are attentive and when busy they really hustle, forming six lines to serve you. Be sure to tip the workers. At the holidays, I suggest calling in your order so you don't miss out when the pound cakes sell out. And, they do! Only during the holidays they make anise-flavored German Springerlie cookies, which have a design pressed into them. They are hard cookies/biscuits that require coffee or hot tea to soften. Mmmmm they are so good. Order those ahead, too. Bring cash to buy a "vanilla bar", which is pound cake with vanilla icing. You can try marble or chocolate icing but, why? The vanilla bar is pure perfection. Weighing in at much more than a pound, you're likely to pay around $15 for the 2.5 lb vanilla bar. It'll be the best $15 you've ever spent. They are often packed, standing room only but, they are well-staffed and run several lines to serve you quickly. I can't imagine how many vanilla bars XXX Quickly, yes. That's how fast a vanilla bar disappears in my house. This trip, I bought sone for friends and 2 for my family. They freeze well. I cut them in half before freezing and defrost 1/2 at a time in the refrigerator. You can elevate and commemorate your next family or business event by special ordering a large pound cake - baptisms, weddings, birthdays, holiday parties... your guests will thank you. YES, I'll be back to the Port Richmond location! I love everything about the original spot - despite the drive, the toll, the parking For those in PA and NJ, there are many restaurants that act as retailers across several PA counties and as far as Wildwood. (They do not ship.) Find a complete list pinned on their Facebook page and follow: https://www.facebook.com/Stocksbakery?mibextid=avESrC

They truly do not make bakeries like this anymore. This is true philly staple. Cash only. Staff is super sweet and welcoming. Walking through the door is pure heaven. You cannot stop by without picking up a pound cake. Also obsessed with their jelly shortbread cookies. Perfect treat for anyone. Cakes are also phenomenal:)

Perfect old school bakery and reasonably priced. Come for the poundcake, leave with the entire bakery(just bring cash).

Ask the Community - Stock's Bakery

Can you order a full sheet cake from stock's?

    Yes

Is it safe for a person with a Tree Nut Allergy to eat one of your pastries, especially the pound cake?

I don't believe there are any nuts in the pound cake but other items have nuts so there could be cross contamination. It would be best to call and speak to a manager.

Do they sell a lemon merangue pie?

Can anyone tell me what are the pound cake flavors at Stocks Bakery?

There's a regular pound cake with either chocolate or vanilla icing; also no icing. There's a marble pound cake with yellow and chocolate pound cake

Can you pre-order the pound cake?

Yes. I preordered my cake. Not sure if you can preorder the loafs though.

If you know, you know. The pastries here are absolutely worth the detour--and honestly, wherever I see a Paris Baguette, I do pull over. That includes locations I've visited in Northern California, North Brunswick, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and even the one here in Charlotte down in Pineville. It's a bit of a drive for me, but when I'm in that area, I always make a point to stop in and pick up a couple of their delicious croissant-donut pastries and marzipan or almond croissants. That's the beauty of this bakery--it's a chain, yes, but the consistency is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to be disappointed. Of course, I had to stop at this Hilton Head location--and I didn't come empty-handed. Food connects people, and bringing pastries to your host is always a winning move. I picked up three different varieties of their famous croissant-donut style pastries (similar to the well-known cronut): * Chocolate * Tiramisu * Mango And I added two large almond croissants that were beautifully filled, flaky, and indulgent. Everything looked fresh, full, and irresistible. The setup inside is easy and efficient. It's self-serve: you grab a tray, line it with parchment, use the tongs, and select whatever catches your eye--from baguettes to cakes to coffee drinks. Checkout was quick, Apple Pay was accepted, and the whole experience felt smooth and well organized. The space was clean, friendly, and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. Bottom line: Whenever you see a Paris Baguette on your radar, pull over. It's dependable, delicious, and perfect for picking up pastries to share--or to treat yourself. For me, it's one of those rare places that delivers the same quality every single time, no matter the city--and that kind of consistency is something I truly appreciate as a traveler and lifelong foodie.
