I usually like my desserts to have more of a bang, but if you're into lightly sweet things that aren't too heavy, the non-chocolate items are for you. The two chocolate cakes I tried were delicious. Very chocolately, great textures. Overall I'm glad I tried A La Mousse but probably won't be going tout of my way to return in the future. read more

A WONDERFUL stop for coffee and sweets! The staff here are incredibly friendly. The store is clean. There is plenty of seating. They have a great variety of tea, coffee, and treats. I came in for a coffee and almost walked out with the entire case of desserts. They were all so cute! I ended up using my will power and getting an iced hazelnut latte with oat milk and told myself I'd come back for the ube crepe cake another time. Let me tell you, this coffee was perfect. It wasn't too sweet. The hazelnut flavor was just enough to enhance the coffee flavor. The coffee flavor wasn't bitter or burnt tasting. It was perfect! I was easily able to order my drink and tea for a friend and then grab a seat in the small dining area near the front of the store. It's still early on in 2022, so I'm trying to stick to my healthy eating new year's resolution. I plan to update this review later on once I try some of those incredible looking desserts! This quaint desert café, located in Graduate Hospital on South Street, offers up some decadent dessert options! I've walked by here several times but finally decided to pop my head inside. I ordered the Double Chocolate for myself, because who doesn't love chocolate. For my husband, I got the Coffee Mousse. The Double Chocolate was packed in a beautiful little box, which should win an award of its own. Both items were quite delicious, but we both agreed that the Double Chocolate was the winner. My friend and I popped in here after dinner Saturday and were hoping to sit down for a bite. They nicely let us know they weren't having anyone sit inside but there were tables outside. Too cold for that so we headed out to my friends office to have the desserts. I got two things. First was the Tiramisu in a pot. Very good, little dessert, mostly cream on the bottom and was very slightly defrosting, but understandable. Again, it was super tasty. But the second thing I got, a slice of the strawberry fresh cream cake, TOP 5 best cake slices I've had in my life. There, I said it. Every bite was perfect. From the cake, to the actually fresh strawberries, the not too sweet cream, it was just so balanced and soft and delicate. The very top layer is sweet and very light, and the bottom layer is a thick chocolate torte that has an eggy aftertaste. Each layer individually is okay, but eating all at once is sweet trip. I was looking up ice cream places in Chinatown but found this little spot and decided to check it out. The interior is clean and modern and the staff is quick and kind. The menu is easy to read and the treats are laid out with detailed but simple descriptions. I had an iced matcha latte which was so fresh, I wish I got the larger size. I also got the tiger cake! This little cake was almost too cute to eat. It was SO moist, fluffy, had an amazing filling and was just the right size. Update : owner reached out to me with an extremely responsive email , so I'm taking this as an isolated incident , updating my review and returning the stars I originally granted since this really is a great little place --quality of the product is superb as I had written in my original review. As I said to the owner : . It happens , and I regret I lost my temper a bit too . That kid was just a bit too much for me that day , and wayyyyy out of line . Possibly he is a great worker in another capacity , but front facing customer service ...is not his bag of tricks . Extremely RUDE. I am a regular here and used to dance at the studio next door when It was there all the time . First , let me say your product --is delicious . It's perfect really . Where you go wrong --is the short sighted customer service of the people at the counter . I can only imagine that the management or owner must back this very short sighted " customer policy " --of a $10 minimum . And pressure the employees to enforce it at all costs --to the detriment of your business --even if it loses a sale . While I understand this is there for a reason--to save the money the fees of having credit cards run for a low amount . I get this policy as a general "rule ," the way the kid enforced it --was extremely short sighted --and "stickler " I didn't have cash on this particular day and the counter guy proceeded to get into a snarky condescending "tug of war " with me . It was his TONE that spoke loud and clear and more his bad attitude --than any policy he was enforcing . I get it . But he proceeds to tell me how " if I understand the policy , then why am I asking him " upon which the other girl at the counter says "if you really don't have cash , we can make an exception " (Which is really what the guy should have said in the first place ) At the end of the day it comes down to the tone of what you say --as much as what was coming out of his mouth . He should never have let it go that far with a customer to begin with . I got the sense that he just wanted to be "right " and it became a matter of him having to have the last word , a battle of wills . He could even have nicely said "you could purchase one more item " At the end of the day it was more his tone that caused the situation to escalate more than anything else . Not the policy , rather his horrible attitude from jump . In an effort to enforce a general policy , do you really want to lose long time customer over what amounts a .50 cent charge ? On top of it , he proceeds to get into an argument with me along with the other girl at the counter and started "dismissing " me in a very condescending way . When I reminded them I was a customer and took out my phone to record their bad attitudes, they all of a sudden changed their tune --real quick . The guy who was at the counter actually frustratedly snapped at me that he would be fired --for not enforcing this policy . To which I really hope he was exaggerating because if that's the case , in your effort to enforce a shortsighted policy to begin with --you alienate customers and create an air of hostility in a market climate where businesses are closing left and right . Classic example of shortsighted business"policies " in which small business owners "trip over dollars to pick up nickels . Also , if there is something you don't have on the menu , don't put it on the counter in a prominent place . Worth noting , I still tipped them for their "service ." Also , the strawberry matcha latte --is really nasty . Or maybe they just made it so because they didn't like what I said lol . It was thick and gross and almost impossible to drink from a straw . Love this Nice cafe on south street. We always come here to meet with friends for drink and desserts. Their cakes are so cute. They are lightly sweeten and very tasty. Happy to see there's a third location! I was only aware of the one in Chinatown and the other in Narbeth. Got the A La Mousse which was great. The Lychee Panna Cotta unlocked a memory from my childhood. The Milk Foam Iced Coffee paired well for the hot day but there was way too much ice. I felt like I only got 4 sips.
