The gas pump was apparently quite old and did not take credit cards so I went inside. The interior is painted bright purple which is awesome! Sharon greeted me and was very welcoming, friendly and gracious. Her accent was so strong I felt like I was in another country but she was so kind, I really appreciated it. She explained I had to estimate an amount, pay in advance and if I didn't pump it all, the card would be refunded! OK! No problem! She asked if I was from Florida (she apparently looked at my license plate). I said yes and she asked how I came to be in Stokes, North Carolina? No problem! I briefly explained our destination today, our massive journey and we chatted a bit more about life. People here are so unbelievably friendly and respectful at the same time. It is like another world! Life is good when you explore and meet new people!

The store itself was closed but the pumps worked. You cannot go into the store itself as it's a drive thru only. Regular gas was $2.69 a gallon which was the cheapest in town. Diesel was $4.73 a gallon. The pumps are older but work fine as I had no issues, even with paying at the pump. They have a refreshment center with 4 drink machines and also the restrooms. They have free air too. No complaints!

So I'm driving, and there was a funky light that came on in my car while I was out of town for…read morework; since I couldn't have hubs take care of it for me, I stopped into Roberson Bros in Williamston to figure out what was going on. First, stopping into this place was like stopping into a gas station in the 50's. The serviceman came right out and was getting ready to fill up my tank of gas- FULL SERVICE!!! WHAT?!?! Maybe this is not such a phenomenon in this neck of the woods, but for me, this was a first. I told him about the light, and I was quickly assured they would take care of it. During the fill up, the gentleman checked under my hood to evaluate the levels of my fluids, belts, etc. He soon told me that the light meant that my tire pressure was off. He checked all of my tires, put air in one that was a bit low, light goes off, I pay him, and I am on my way. Literally, all of this happened in less than 10 minutes. I'm not accustomed to service like this at a gas station, and from now on, every other experience will be crummy compared to what I received at Roberson Bros. Top notch!!!
