Stokes Sign Company did a large project for my .com company's annual event. We needed tons of materials on a tight deadline and they delivered! First off, we needed several standing banners to display our agenda as well as signs that directed people to rooms on different floors. When we envisioned this initially, we just saw it as something we needed to make sure that people got around the hotel.. but it ended up really adding that polish that our event needed to stand out and look super professional. There was no question which event was ours at the very-crowded Hilton in downtown Austin that weekend! Our favorite item from Stokes were the magnets we had printed with our companies logo. They were a HUGE hit (to say the least) from both our attendees AND our employees. We ran out of magnets and attendees were asking where they could order more! I needed a poster printed for an event and when I picked it up, it didn't look anything like the PDF I sent. The line weights were messed up and there were large dark boxes around photos that were supposed to have a nice shadow effect. Not sure how you mess up something in a PDF but turns out you can! I called them and they said they would call me back and look into the problem. I called and emailed numerous times because I was under the impression that they were going to print us a new one. Finally, about 2 hours before the event, one of our employees had to go in to the store since they wouldn't return our phone calls and they said there was nothing they could do about it AND they wouldn't refund our money. They were very accusatory saying that our files were messed up and that they spent a long time trying to fix it. When I asked why they didn't call me to ask for a new file, they blamed it on the short turn around. They didn't take ownership for the error or say they were sorry for the inconvenience one time. Isn't the customer supposed to be right? After much prodding, the owner finally offered to refund my money if I brought the sign out to their Lakeway location. I passed on driving 30 minutes out of my way for a $50 sign and I'm sure that's why they offered the half-hearted refund. read more
