My fellow netizens: (potential trigger warnings) and it's a little long:…read more Don't eat Subway from location in Staples, MN. You are at risk of consuming contaminated food that could be from cross-contamination and/or contamination from dumpster slop. I am posting a warning for all of you that like to grab a so-called healthy meal option from Subway. I can't be sure if the things I observed here, are true of all locations. I assure you that I am likely never going to buy anything from Subway again. I stopped in to purchase a sandwich. No line. Still had to wait while the young man behind the counter was tending to online orders. Not the issue. The issue was the second young man that came in from outside, that I had witnessed wrestling with boxes outside the location as I drove up. He loudly stated to be careful going to the recycle because of the bees. I get that he was understandably a little shook from that. He then took off his jacket and said, "I'll help you." He began pulling on gloves. I stated loudly, "You'll need to wash your hands first." He replied, "We got hand sanitizer. I got you." I answered again, "You were just outside, around a recycle bin (potential garbage), and you won't be handling food prep until you wash and sanitize your hands." He laughed and said, "It's not that big of deal. I use sanitizer and gloves." I asked, "You find that acceptable?" "Lady, I don't know what the big deal is," was his reply. "I'm passing on the sandwich today and I don't think I'll be getting any food from here until food safety standards are raised up," and I walked over to the main store's counter to make my purchase of other items. The regular store is a Holiday and the Subway is located in the store. I did speak to the two employees at that counter and there was another customer in line who witnessed this encounter. I don't know who was more disgusted, the Holiday workers or the older lady behind me. This may not seem like a big deal until I let you know these things: 1) This is how contamination happens - direct and cross-contamination. 2) This is how food poisoning happens. 3) This is how restaurants lose business. The issues here go to a very basic problems: a) This young man does not understand the importance of "why" you wash your hands so often in food prep. b) The young man needed better training (if it was up to me, I would show him the door). c) The owner/manager doesn't have any idea what is going on or does and doesn't care. If care about your physical health or the health of those around you, maybe pay attention to what's going on around you. Hand washing is a necessity in good food handling practices just as keeping hair out of food. #StaplesSubway #foodcontamination #fastfoodnightmares #Subway #donoteathere

My kids wanted DQ, so I figured I'd save time and ordered online so I could get in, grab the food,…read moreand get out quickly. I arrived at the exact time the app said my order would be ready. There was a long line at the counter, only one employee working, so I waited patiently assuming my online order would be coming out shortly. I waited 20 minutes. Finally, after everyone else who had been waiting got their food, I asked if my order was ready. The response? "Oh, we'll get that started for you now." ...Wait. What? So I asked, "You guys wait until the person who ordered online shows up before you even make the food?" Employee: "Yes, that way your ice cream doesn't melt while we make the food." Okay... So then they immediately hand me the ice cream cone. And I proceed to stand there another 10 minutes waiting for the food. At that point I asked, "Why would you wait until I get here to make the food? Now I'm standing here with melting ice cream dripping everywhere, which completely goes against what you just told me." Response: "Well, if someone orders online, they might not show up for 30 minutes to an hour, so we wait until they arrive." I'm sorry... That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The entire purpose of online ordering is convenience. It's supposed to save time and let customers skip the wait. Otherwise, what exactly is the difference between ordering online versus just walking in and ordering at the counter... or going through the drive-thru? And if someone chooses a pickup time and decides to show up late? That's on them. The app literally lets you choose "pickup now" or schedule a pickup time. If I'm ordering ahead, I shouldn't still be standing there for 30 minutes while watching everyone else get served first. To add, I got home and realized they made half of the order and set it in the warmer...with the applesauce from the kids meal. It was hot when I got home so my child didnt get to eat her apple sauce at all. Do better, Dairy Queen.
