Stone Crock Bakery is a good pit stop during a day trip to St. Jacobs. Bread, Cakes, Pies, Cookies, Butter Tarts and more which for sure would make anyone with a sweet tooth happy. But if you are on special low sugar diet, they also carries sweet that are made with Splenda. There is a sit down self served area inside the bakery if you do prefer to enjoy your treats with a coffee. And on a nice sunny day, there are also some picnic tables in front of the store!

I was a regular at Block 3 when I lived in Waterloo. Well, if I'm honest, I was there all the time…read moreand they should have charged me rent. You might think beer was my primary motivation, and in the beginning it was. Block 3 is a small batch craft brewery that delivers on tasty beer. They generally have ten to twelve beers on tap ranging from lagers, ales, sours and sometimes a stout. They are all delicious in their own right although drinking barrel aged fruited sours is an acquired taste in my book, but trust me try them and you may learn to love them. But why else should you go? There is limited food (it's a brewery not a restaurant), no TV's to watch the game, a steady stream of classic rock playing in the background, kids running around and a few dogs to greet you on the way in. To make matters worse the cell reception is awful, my wife always had a hard time reaching me. Hmm, maybe that's not all bad... What kind of place is this, anyway? It's a modern twist on an old fashioned FAMILY oriented brewery, that's what! There are plenty of board games to play, the local regulars are always happy to share some stories, and the staff are the coolest people around. They have a great Mug Club and if you are lucky you get your own hand-thrown pottery mug with your name on it! Very cool... As I mentioned in one of my check-ins, Block 3 is a benchmark craft brewery experience. I can't recommend this place highly enough,

The souvlaki (4.5/5) was a highlight -- generous portion with tasty meat, plenty of rice, and a salad included. Skip the fries though, they were disappointing. The lasagna (2/5) on the other hand fell flat -- it had a sour taste and the bread that came with it was more like toast than proper bread. Service (5/5) Friendly staff all around -- no complaints there. Atmosphere (3/5) Nothing special, but functional. Simple and laid-back. Water is served in plastic cups, which felt a bit out of place. If you go, stick to the souvlaki and you'll leave happy!

The ribs were tender and juicy and the sauce on them is amazing. The bagel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cream cheese was a nice addition and the fruit was pretty fresh. The service was quick and staff were friendly. Overall I would give this place 5/5. -MS Walking into this place we were faced with a 20min wait-which turned out to be only 5mins! Servers were nice and friendly but food coming out was a bit slow. My dish was ribs with the chicken fingers. The ribs were small but flavourful but the chicken fingers were amazing. Fresh cut and with a tempura style batter. I was so impressed because the restaurant is large but the quality of food (home made) was apparent. Nothing seemed frozen or mass produced. - SS

There are many vendors selling food and they're all busy! After wandering around the market for a while, it was time to get some lunch. With tons of choices, and everything looking good, we took a little while to decide. We ended up with a chicken pita, roast beef pita, and a roast beef sandwich. We also had a couple different types of freshly made potato chips. It was all good. Of course, we had to have some apple fritters, perhaps the most popular food item at the market. The lineup went out the door, even though it was drizzling a bit. It was worth the effort. They were hot, freshly made, and delicious! There is so much to see, do, buy, and photograph at St. Jacobs Farmers' Market. The produce market alone offers so many great photo opportunities of picture perfect fruits, vegetables, flowers, and more. There is an abundance of great subjects, with most of them being very delicious We explored the market a bit more after lunch, picking up some fresh fruits before heading to our next destination. Check tomorrow's post to see what else the market has to offer.

First, I have a weakness for beer nuts. I ended up getting three bags for $12. You can get get them in pumpkin seeds, peanuts, and other varieties. Second, I love popcorn. I also ended up getting three bags of popcorn for $10. I simply remember getting the white chocolate and chocolate-covered caramel varieties. It is now a ritual for me to swing by this store and get some goodies. The beer nuts are yummy with the sweet honey coating on them. I also love popcorn and the flavours are yummy. During my last visit, I got the white chocolate, chocolate-covered caramel, and caramel popcorn. Yum! This store is located on the top floor. It also sells fudge, chocolate, sponge toffee, butter tarts, and more. I have tried the fudge. It's good, although I still have nightmares working at the fudge stand as a student at the Ex.
