the last time I was here at this location was many years ago when it was a buffet restaurant. The Place now has a new fresh look, very clean, Friendly helpful service and I loved the different options the menue offered it was hard to choose. I decided to go with the German Cider soup with mulled wine and the Delicious Butter Fried Chicken with Milk Gravy the flavour of the crispy chicken batter has me wanting to go back for more lol this meal was a lovely end to my Christmas shopping at St Jacobs and I definitely would recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a special meal with big flavour read more

My sister and I drove to St. Jacobs and poked in the cute craft shops. We had a late lunch at the Stone Crock Restaurant. We both had the buffet ... it was $12.99 each. There was salad, mashed potatoes, double baked potatoes, turkey cacciatore, some kind of schnitzel, roast beef, turkey and dressing, sausages, corn, broccoli, etc. It was okay, not great. The "skin" on the gravy was kind of scary. The roast, though, was surprisingly good. There were pies for dessert but there was an extra charge ... we both passed. So disappointed in the experience. Walked in and was told about the buffet but never told when it closed until we sat down. Then, and only after we ordered, we were told that the kitchen was running slower then normal and food would take longer to get out. Greeter didn't even smile once, no eye contact, not even a hello. The waiter was nice but. I smile no engagement and in short, it felt like we were on an assembly line... get the customer in and get them out. Came in with my family on the Saturday for the lunch buffet. For $15.79, the selection of food available and the quality of the food was sub par. I was really disappointed because it felt like we were spending a lot of money for food that came from bags. The food was so sugary. If you want dessert, you have a choice between paying $4.99 for a slice of pie or this cake layer cream dessert (?) near the salad bar. My family and I won't be coming again. For $15.79, it was not worth your money, you can get a better variety and deal if you get AYCE sushi. read more

Very nice and rustic décor that takes you back in time for sure . Before seating we went around and had a look at the buffet ,it looked delicious so we decided to go for it. Tried a bit of everything ...soups were ok ( was blend ,a little salt and pepper goes a long way ) the bread was absolutely delicious and cannot be more fresh, meatloaf looks delicious but again missing some seasoning, and also same thing with the pastas. I heard a lot of good things about this place, so when we took a family trip and stopped by St Jacob's, Stone Crock was where we decided to go. Perhaps my expectation was over the top based on the positive reviews I got for this place. But to tell you the truth, this place was old fashioned and the food wasn't far from that either. We went for the lunch buffet. There was an assortment of salads, mash, gravy, roast beef, chicken, chilli, greens and soup (which happened to be cream of vegetable). The soup was delicious, but the rest was just plain old bland and tasted like it was frozen and reheated. I would definitely not recommend the buffet lunch. read more

My husband and I took our 2 kids here today. It was awful! The waitress was not attentive. She assumed all 4 of us were having the buffet, until I corrected her. And then she seemed disappointed. When we arrived we were told that there was roast beef. There wasn't. The beef stroganoff tasted horrible like flowers! The chicken was dry. Pork loin was dried out. Everything had a weird taste that wasn't good. The ribs weren't bad. The only thing I liked was the dessert, I had the chocolate cream pie. It was most likely store bought, because there is no way someone could serve the crap we had and then make a great pie. So disappointed will never go back! read more

Stopped in en route to the St Jacobs Farmers market and couldn't have been more glad we did! Amazing selection of baked goods; breads and desserts. Fresh sandwich selection as well. We had: Turkey Mediterranean sandwich - fresh, flavourful and delish Cinnamon and the orange glazed tea balls - these are seriously glorious! Apple fritters- the best I have had and we heard many people remarking that they have come from afar to sample! Definitely worth a pit-stop if you find yourself in the area! read more

Love stopping here whenever we are in the area. We usually have the 'all-in' buffet (although they also have a comprehensive menu of other favourites). Dinner this visit: beef and chicken roasts, along with ribs, meatloaf and salmon. Variety of fresh homemade potatoes, veggies, soup, bread and all the fixings. Really disappointed. Had dinner last night with a horrible waitress. Food was ok but the server was rude. One of party was hard of hearing and the server actually rolled her eyes when she had to repeat something for him! We ordered a starter and when I asked how many it would serve she said it was meant for 1. I ordered 2 and the 6 of us ate and could not finish it all!! Then dessert..we requested the dessert menu and we were told just to go and look...we did only to be told after telling her the types of pies we wanted to "just go get them". This was a very disappointing visit and I'm afraid next trip to st Jacob's we will be finding somewhere else to eat. read more

We hoped that the many patrons suggested an adequate meal was in store but we were sadly disappointed. The food from the buffet was consistently over cooked and tasteless. Food was barely warmed. Meats were dry and vegetables were mushy. Hamburger from the menu might be the best bet but it took at least 45 minutes. The up-charged side of Caesar was wilted. The Reuben had good rye bread but could not withstand the gigantic portion of juicy sauerkraut. After I pulled off most of the sauerkraut and flipped the sandwich to get rid of the mushy bread and eat it open faced , it was good. The Mac and cheese was flavoured with sage bread crumbs and had noodles that were practically dissolved in the hard to identify but super processed, strange tasting cheese sauce. Next time we will look harder for other options. read more

A very nice family restaurant. Interior is a bit dated, but it doesn't take away from the charm of the restaurant or the food. A friendly staff right when you walk in. We were seated right away and were presented with either the menu or buffet. We all decided upon the buffet. An excellent selection for the salad bar and hot foods. In terms of buffets it was above average for most that I've eaten at. Staff were always checking and adding items as needed. However, the best part of the buffet was the desserts section. A wide selection of pies. The pies were fantastic, we all had at least two servings. Our waitress was fantastic, helpful, friendly and funny. In fact, the entire staff were very nice and cheerful. This evening we drove from London to The Stone Crock the food we order was crap I order Mac & Cheese I couldn't believe that just a simple order like Mac & Cheese could taste that awful, this Restaurant is suppose one of the best in Ontario. I'm saying 3 of us,3 different orders. All were crap! The upsetting thing is, After the waitress had asked "what was wrong with my order cause she wanted to let the cook know." She seen that my meal was still on my plate. Why did I still get charged for the Mac & Cheese? Me and my fiancée drove from our home in Kitchener today to share a lunch buffet at Stone Crock. I must admit the food was mediocre at best and they make you pay additional for sandwiches and desserts. For $14.99 a person, your money is much better invested else where. read more

I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend on Saturday early evening. We had traveled to Saint Jacobs for the day and wanted to stop in somewhere for dinner before going home. We were dressed casually but nice - non-ripped jeans, and hooded sweatshirts. When we first sat down a waitress came up to ask us our drink orders. We requested a couple of minutes to decide and at this she sighed and walked away. We continued looking at the menu, trying to decide if we wanted to eat from the menu or get the buffet. About 5 minutes later the waitress came back over and said that there was another restaurant next door with hamburgers and sandwiches that she felt we would prefer. We basically felt like she was saying we weren't good enough to be in there, and she would rather we left. And leave we did, completely stunned with the way that we were treated. read more

I've been here twice. Once it was day-after-party haven, the second time it was hosting out-of-town family gold. Both times we came here for the Sunday buffet brunch. I'm such a light weight that buffets are wasted on me. The place is perfect for the ravenous though. I especially like the omelet station! There's always roast beef (a hit with the fam), ham cut to order and a massive whole salmon waiting to be dug into. The dessert selection is quite extensive though not to my taste. Endless coffee, tea and oj does the trick for me. Though there are cheaper options ($17.99 for Sunday brunch), for value, and pure 'big business in small town' feel, I'm giving the Stone Crock a thumbs up. read more

Breakfast buffet for about $10 on holidays (the day we went) but there's a breakfast special for about $6-7 on non-holidays. Service was attentive and great - and the food, was good. I had a strawberry crumble that was amazing and there are lots of meat options: bacon, ham, sausage. There's also pancakes, quiche, scrambled eggs! We went here as a group of 33 ladies on this past week-end, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the service at Stone Crock!! The Cream of Potato soup was amazing and the Servers were consistently filling up our coffees! Big Thumbs UP! Would definitely return! read more

We took our mum here for mother's day brunch and the buffet was spectacular. Highlights were turkey turnovers, a pan of delicious eggs Benedict, and amazing fall off the bone ribs slow cooked in a Mennonite style sweet sauce. Great selection of lunch and breakfast entrees and sides. Delicious fresh croissants, and a table full of about 12 different kinds of house made stone crock pies and cakes topped it all off. Coffee and juice was refilled regularly, and flowers were passed out to all the mothers. The Sunday brunch at stone crock really can't be beat for the all-in price of about $20 a person. read more

We came to the Stone Crock for a family dinner, and had a good meal! They offer both a dinner buffet and an a la carte menu, so there is something for everyone. The buffet had a nice variety of hot dishes, soups, salads, and a dessert buffet as well. The food was good - not fancy, but tasty, hot, homestyle dishes like meatloaf, ribs, mashed potatoes, pasta, and cabbage rolls. Poor service and rude wait staff! Waited over 45min for our food. I had to walk around the restaurant in order to find the waitress to ask where our food was as she never came back to our table after bringing our water. Never once did we receive an apology. What a bad experience! Waitress didn't bother to inform us that the buffet would be packed up at 3:00 (in fact we found out later on that it was usually at 2:00) - but offered the buffet as menu option even though we arrived at around 2:20. Two of our party bought the buffet meal - $14 per person approx. - but when they went to get a second helping, everything except the salad bar was gone! I ordered a salad which came out swimming - no drowning! - in dressing. Actually had to send it back which is something I have only ever done one other time in my life. Water took 20 minutes to arrive, too. When we complained about not being informed about the buffet, the waitress said 'oh, that's too bad you didn't know' - then she changed one item on the bill to be able to give us a $2.00 discount. Jacobs. the food was sub-par, potatoes were dry, chicken was so over done it was stringy, and unfortunately when I grabbed a piece of pie for the sake of eating something, the crust was raw. Went for lunch there was four in our group. The front desk hostess took my name and we were 2nd on the list, she said 15minute wait. Half an hour later, after we watched people being seated and their names being called , we noticed that people that had arrived after us with four in their group were being seated, we went to enquire and the hostess was RUDE stating she had already called our name which was absolutely not true, she and i'm assuming a Manger quickly got us a table, both gave us glaring and RUDE stares, did not apologize even when i spoke directly to the manger she ignored me, stared rudely turned, and left, in retrospect we should have left. We ordered our lunch I ordered Asian stir fried veg, no rice with chicken breast add on, it arrived like a bowl of soup there was sooo much teriaki sauce with minuscule pieces of veg and i couldn't even find the chicken, I returned this and got the Cobb Salad which was tasty. During our lunch the hostess happened to pass by looked directly at our table and again gave the stare down - what terrible terrible customer service for an establishment that depends on tourists coming in to St Jacobs. I must say though, that our waitress was EXCELLENT she was a very nice and accommodating person. read more
