We needed a place to stay for one night after camping for 6, we called and they had a one bedroom cabin available. Very clean, very nice owner, perfect little cabin for our family of 4. Towels and bedding smelled so fresh! (Which isn't always the case in some places, so I noticed and appreciated it lol) Will stay again if we're in the area! read more

Found this place while out for a drive. we stopped and toured the grounds then had dinner in the Cafe. we ordered a tortilla burger and fish and chips then apple pie for dessert. everything from the food to the service was excellent. we will definitely return to stay at this beautiful place. read more

We rented a kayak from this business, apparently these are the new owners. I was so overwhelmed with the helpfulness and kindness of The employees. Everyone was so helpful. The owner showed me how to use the kayak, showed us how to use the life jackets, and when he came to pick us up he even brought me an extra bottle of water because it was so hot. Very kind people and I would be happy to support them again! They absolutely helped to make our trip! read more

Pretty remote little hole in the wall cafe that is a diamond in the rough for sure. Heron and El Vado lakes up in northern New Mexico were extremely popular fishing destinations until many years of drought finally took their toll on the lakes and the tourism. The Stone House Lodge Cafe is located in a small lake community that is in between both lakes and you can tell time has taken its toll on the buildings but you can tell it was once a booming place to be. Despite the drop in tourism and business, the cafe is still open and it is indeed a treat. Typical breakfast items are all on the menu, but being in New Mexico you have to go with some of their New Mexican specialty items. The huevos rancheros (a New Mexican favorite with hashbrowns, beans, & eggs smothered and covered in green and red chile and cheese) was some of the best I've ever had and for $7.50, it could have fed three people, yet I managed to eat it all. The ladies cooking in the kitchen obviously know New Mexican food and it was so good coming back to New Mexico from the Midwest and being treated to such an amazing home cooked meal. This place is remote and you truly do have to go out of your way to get there, but you're camping or fishing at one of the lakes, I would highly recommend. read more

We had dinner here today. I had the roast beef dinner, my wife had a burger with swiss and mushrooms. The little cafe serves organic beef from a local ranch and the quality of the meal showed how good the beef really is. The atmosphere is a typical resort style connected to the grocery/fishing supply store. Service was quick and good. We would certainly return to this cafe. read more
