Then for seating at 10, all food should be out and ready, yet many items were not out until 10:15-10:30. The hosta and floral gardens that line the driveway are delightful and finish setting the tone for the event. Ample parkjng is available , very close to the barn/reception. Not only is this barn new, it is AIR CONDITIONED! !! BOOM !! The architect and designer really nailed it on this facility. There is a comfy Bride's Room (with private restroom), a Grooms Area, a large walk up bar, large restrooms, a tall ceiling, and a small kitchen for the caterers. For me, the the most incredible feature was the giant sized barn doors located behind the head table. When they were majestically flung open, the sun and outside came in. It was almost spiritual, like when the Priest opens the Holy Doors. There were a couple lawn games for guests to enjoy, several tables under a shaded porch, a patio with a huge firepit, and lots of room for frolicking outside. Wine barrels were everywhere so there was always someplace to set your beverage. The ceremony site I saw was hidden and absolutely stunning. Perfectly etched out of the prevailing landscape. I figured it would be dirty and dumpy like most cheap weekly rate motels, but i was pleasantly surprised. Although it is an old motel, it is the cleanest motel I've ever been in. When they clean your room, you get all new bedding, fresh rugs and replace all the linens. Not just towels and sheets like other places. Thank God, there are not bugs here! They have a dock with really great fishing, a bonfire area, and I believe they even do small boat and kayak rentals. The staff have been wonderful. There is a laundromat on the property as well. If you need a place to stay for a week or two, you cant beat it for only 275$! I would stay here again in a heartbeat and definitely recommend it to anyone needing a temporary home.

Once we got to our room we were immediately overwhelmed with the smell of dirty socks and rancid beer. There was peanuts and trash on the floor and a "mystery" wet spot. To top it all off, someone's artificial nails were picked off and left in the nightstand. There was nowhere else for us to go because all places in a 50 mile radius were booked (Labor Day weekend). Needless to say, we spent most of the night in our car until we were exhausted and went and slept on the bed with our linens and pillows. In the morning, the awful smells were overpowering the tree air fresheners we had hung in the room. We left ASAP and will never go back, even if we were paid.

We left our house after work so got here around 5:30PM on a Friday. Elaine had Sandy greet us and she was most welcoming with pamphlets of things to do. She prepared a local wine and cheese/grape platter while we decided for dinner. Plus, there was a bubbly mango sparkling bottle drink too for my birthday. In our room, she had some of Elaine's chocolate brownies ready for us as well. We ended up going to Swensons' Lake House restaurant only a couple blocks away. It was the best decision and recommendation from Sandy. Afterwards, we got the wine and cheese/grape platter from the fridge to relax in the gazebo. It was a nice a private area which we could enjoy the sunset. It was only the 2 of us in the house so it was nice to have some privacy with the house to ourselves. We woke up in the middle of the night and decided to enjoy some treats in the common area upstairs. We helped ourselves to some crackers and hot cider from Kuerig that Sandy showed us earlier. In the morning, we woke up and Sandy prepared our breakfast. We took a short walk around the lake and then to the church and back. Sandy was ready and served us a 3-4 meal breakfast. It started with a vanilla Greek yogurt parfait with cantaloupe, strawberries, and banana. Next, we had sausage with Havarti eggs and dill which was fantastic with some English muffins and homemade jam. Last, we had a bread pudding with whipped cream and chocolate chips. We finally got some great recommendations for hiking and checked out with Sandy. We enjoyed the wine so much that we visited WineHaven to pick up another bottle of the Stinger honey wine. Also, we picked up some of that local cheese down the road at Eichen that Sandy had for us when we arrived.
