This bead shop also sells finished pieces and really pretty sarongs. If you're looking for a gift really quick, they have it covered. It may be best to enter the parking lot from the alley behind the store, near Morningside. I've gotten some really nice natural stone beads here, but last time I stopped in he had some really beautiful carnelian beads of all sizes. There's new stuff all the time, I ought to drop in more frequently, and with covid restrictions, this shop is so big, nobody is ever too close for safety. read more

We were in Albuquerque visiting family and had the good pleasure of discovering the Stone Mountain Bead Shop. The service was personal and the selection was impressive. The prices were competitive, especially compared to what we have in the Phx/Scottsdale area. The owner is knowledgeable about his products and willingly shares with his customers. If someone is looking only for Czech glass beads they can be found anywhere. This shop offers those, of course, but also has more unusual ethnic beads from around the world in great variety and price points. read more

As a jewelry artist I check out as many bead stores as possible wherever I travel. I like to know the best ones for supplies and findings. This particular bead shop is in the vicinity of the University of New Mexico. All the shops in this area are going for the hippie, earth-mother, don't shave, wash or bathe yourself feel and the store itself if it were a person fits the bill to a T. It was extremely dusty and unorganized. Clutter was the theme and not cleaning was their dream. I've purchased the same common Czech glass beads online for much cheaper. Most of the beads were on heavy strands and you had to pick through piles of dusty mess to find anything. The store was quite unpleasant in that it was so unorganized and dirty. It was unappealing which made you not want to browse any further. It was more clutter and hand carved/created idol worship objects than anything. The glass displays were filthy with no real point of what was being shown. They could all take a class on retail and marketing. The positive was that some of the bead tables in the center of the store were at a good height so you did not have to bend over and kill your back to look. A new paint job would've helped and for goodness sakes break out the windex and dusting rags! You can put buyers in a good mood and willing to open their pocketbooks when displays and items look appealing and exciting. As well as adding creations made with the beads and findings you're selling. The two employees were kind enough but uninterested in really making the place work for them. I truly believe that a call to Peter Perfect from eStyle channel is in absolute order. I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone unless your wanting a spontaneous hand drum circle to start up and the hooka pipe to be offered. Now that I think of it THAT WAS THE POINT! To all serious bead and handcrafting jewelry artists it's a pass. read more

I've recently started making jewelry and am a total beginner. I tried shopping for beads at all the usual hobby store chains in the area and found the selection disappointing and repetitive. So I stopped in hoping to find a wide selection of unique and unusual beads and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was blown away by the selection. If I had to guess I'd say there's likely 1,000+ different kinds of beads for sale and that's my conservative estimate. It would take hours to look at all the different beads on display and the range of unique and one-of-a-kind items makes the prospect of doing so very tempting. I was also very impressed by the service. I was helped by Robert and found his service to be personal and friendly. Again, as a beginner there's quite a lot of terminology and other minutiae to learn about bead sizing, bead types, and tools so I had many questions to ask. He was very knowledgeable and he answered all my questions clearly. Overall the atmosphere was laid-back and I felt comfortable asking questions and browsing the store. Ladies are super friendly. Products is neat and clean unique and very fairly priced.There is so much i could stay all day! My mini yorkie who thinks hes a real boy was welcome and given treats. I went to just look left with a Herkimer Diamond. In Albuquerque on vacation. This shop is a true gem! Robert has beads, cabochons, finished pieces, charms and other jewelry. A lot to see! the selection here is almost overwhelming there is so much to look at it's hard to focus!! sure it's a bit dusty but who cares when the prices are as good as they are. i can say from experience their prices are the best i've seen anywhere. i recently purchased 5mm matte Amazonite beads here for $8 a strand - the same beads were $10 a strand at my hometown bead shop in Long Beach, Ca. it would have been easy to spend more money than i did but i will definitely return next time i'm in ABQ (which is often). read more

Yes, this shop is a bit dusty and somewhat unorganized, but you can't beat the selection! More beads than I've ever seen in one place. The owner is very very nice and helpful. I think he'd do a better business if he cleaned up a bit, turned on the AC, and took out the stinky incense sticks from the front of the store. But if you are a beader looking for unique or unusual beads, this is your place! The prices were competitive with other shops, too. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in. read more

This place has alot of stuff/ alot of anything one may be looking for. It's a very old store; like 19 years old and it's not a high class, fancy place. But it's a good place with all kinds of semi precious gemstones, beads and alot of silver jewelry too. And amber. What more can you ask for? This store has alot of history to it itself. It's in the Nob Hill area of the city and has been there for 19 years. It's well worth checking out.
