    First tee

Fun course! Slow play on a Sunday afternoon with no starter. The course was very fun with many tall trees. The course was generally in good condition. A few greens and tees had rough spots, but most were in good shape, as were the fairways and sand bunkers. The front 9 was much more secluded through the woods and the back 9 had houses on both sides of almost every hole. It was worth the trip for my group!

Just pick a mansion and find a spot. We got lucky and found a spot in the shade and didn't have to walk too far. We brought a stroller just in case. The grounds were immaculate as they always are. Areas were closed off to the public but there was a large section that had been set up for food and beverage with ample seating under a tent as well as tables with umbrellas on a lawn so kids could run around and with a large screen to watch the matches. I've always loved this event at the country club because you can be so close to the action. Staff were super friendly and personable and really appreciate everyone's hard work to keep this open to the public so that tennis can be accessible for all.

I was invited here for a fancy shmancy evening. I was not sure I was even going to be allowed in…read morethrough the front door since I am Jewish and well, you know the ugly history of country clubs (and deed restrictions in the subdivisions surrounding country clubs) discriminating against everyone that is not a WASP - "blue blood lining" as a part of WASP history that has a lot in common with their FHA redlining which is more widely discussed among the goyim that are trying to earn their woke credentials these days supporting MFOL, BLM, trans*, and feminist causes as allies. Turns out, this is one of them more progressive country clubs allowing people like me in and I was not asked to leave on account of the schnoz. I had several dramatic oy gevalts lined up for the occasion that I have now saved for later when I really need them. Caddyshack II is one of my favourite films because it just really gets "it" and how "it" is for the rest of us when we have to pick out a shirt that does not have mustard stains on it and we go to the country club as a guest. I expected to be the Hartounian we all need me to be in these trying times, with a bit of Al Czervik thrown in for the even tougher times. I had a whole paragraph on Spaceballs I had to take out because I think Caddyshack II is a better vibe for this one. As you would expect based on the name and the general understanding that this is the fanciest part of Houston, this country club is imposing. The building is enormous. There are so many different rooms and (levels!) The "driveway" leading up to the main building is lengthy and there is the guard house to keep out the riff-raff, which did not include me for one day of my life. For all of the pomp and circumstance in arriving here (my Uber driver was whistling like the "hoooooo boy" kind-of-impressed by all the mansions nearby) I had to tip my Uber driver extra so he wouldn't think I was one of the landed gentry, I was more of a down to earth bro (simply a guest here, not a member) that should be spared from President Sanders kicking in the doors of the 1% and forcibly redistributing wealth come next January. I think my outfit from the clearance rack at Sears told actual rich people everything they needed to know about me voting for Sanders and not their chosen wine cave fundraiser candidate, who should be the lucky owner of the second door kicked down by Sanders after the Clintons' wealth has been forcibly redistributed to POC communities that Shillary had dubbed "super predators" in the 90s. If you have the opportunity to visit here as a guest, do it. It is a world apart from what we know. Muy fancy!

I'm not dating a supermodel (even though I'm VERY happy with the one I got). What I do enjoy is a round of golf with some of buddies, drinking a beer per hole, keeping score roughly according to PGA guidelines (yeah right), and just having a great time out on the Links. Now with that being said, I can really care less where I play as long as I get to play. I don't need a course designed by Jack Nicklaus for me to have a good time. This is why I enjoy Indian Shores GC so much. Its not like Kingwood CC or TPC at the Woodlands. In fact this makes your average municipal GC look like Tour 18. This is just your friendly neighborhood 9 hole GC on Lake Houston. You want beer? Bring your own damn beer! Oh we do. Oh we do. I'm not going to hole by hole describing the layout and best possible approach shots, partly because the course is in such poor shape its quite pointless to have a gameplan. Just hit the damn ball and pray it goes straight. If not, drink some more. The key is to be relaxed when you do your backswing. Trust me, I'm a tour pro at this type of golf. -The tee box is the highlight of the course. Need I say anymore about the rest? -The fairways are very short and wide open. The grass is either ankle length, which offers little to no roll - or - there is NO grass and its just hard dirt, which makes a 200 yard drive end up closer to 300. Awesome. -I think there is a total of 5 bunkers on the whole course. Beautiful! -The greens are fast and actually well kept for such a course The best thing about this course except for the BYOB is the green fee. For about 15 bucks you can play 18 holes of golf. Or 3-4 hours of a drinking party while attempting to play golf. Either way its a win-win situation.

So I tried this course today and it only took the first 2 holes for me to realize that the course…read morewas pretty much unplayable. Ground was so hard you couldn't make divots, your club would just bounce off the ground. Made it hard to get under the ball. Couldn't put my tee in the ground because of how hard the ground was. Couldn't tell the difference between the rough and the fairway and some parts of the "fairway" was just dried up dirt. I played a few holes and left, waste of money. My golf carts breaks didn't work either. The cart path was a gravel trail that was so bumpy my water bottle fell out of the cup holder and spilled everywhere. They didn't even have have water stations because they said they didn't have a "cooling system" all you need is a bucket filled with water and ice like what's so hard about that? Anyway I would never recommend playing here
