We stayed at the Stonecreek for my brother's birthday weekend. As always, it was exceptional. Whenever we travel to Montana this is always my first choice because they always deliver great service and never have disappointed us in any way. The rooms are quiet, spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is welcoming and the pool area is relaxing. They are a 1 minute walk from a brewery next door with beer and a mexican food truck. We have always had a welcoming experience here. The room rate was over $400.00 for 1 night I was willing to pay so my dog and I could have a place to stay. First impression horrible young man at counter had no name tag didn't even ask how we were had no customer service skills, very cold and not welcoming. For the price I paid the TV was very finger printed and dirty, the sheets would not stay on mattress. I've been traveling from Alaska and the cheapest motels had better customer service. Don't be deceived by the name or the pictures. It is not by a creek, but is located in an industrial area. We were awakened at 4:30 a.m. by consistent truck noise and revving engines. And they don't have a restaurant as the pictures would lead you to believe. Additionally, there are no restaurants close to provide food other than 2 food trucks. Big Sky Brewing had one food truck open, and they ran out of food before we could order, and it was early in the evening. We asked for directions to Big Sky at the hotel's front desk, which they provided. Upon our return, the same staff person (a young man) asked if we'd like some free beer tokens for Big Sky. It would have been nice to have been given them BEFORE we went. The room wasn't very clean. Found hairs on the bathroom floor. Disgusting! Rooms were uncomfortable and sterile and an awful configuration. Also overpriced. read more

The location was easy to get in and out of. The hotel was clean and quiet. The staff were friendly. The hot tub was clean and relaxing. We will be back! read more

Very disappointed. Had to change rooms three times! First room we were given a room that apparently didn't allow dogs. Second room, the TV didn't work, and the bed literally had a whole in the middle that caused us both to roll to the middle of the bed. Third room TV was the size of a computer monitor! While the bed initially "appeared" to be ok, it had a sag to the middle as well! Add to that the $75 pet fee - for what not quite sure as the rooms were not the cleanest. This place is SUPER dated and in desperate need of a facelift. Despite this, they are charging the same nightly rate as much newer hotels in the area. The exit door closest to my room didn't work with my key, so I had to go all the way round to front entrance for unloading/loading my car. Front desk said "oh maybe it's broken." My room smells like dog. (I have my corgi with me and had to pay a fee. After seeing the room, I'm not sure why?) The room isn't particularly clean. I kept finding hair. The mattress is way past its expiration date. The room while large is EXTREMELY dated with a digital clock from what appears to be the 90's. If you are not going to invest money to keep the hotel up, then charge prices commiserate with what your guests are getting!!!!!! read more

Only good thing I can say is the rooms are plenty big. Otherwise this is an extremely bare bones experience. There is a pool and hot tub, but even on a Saturday night with low capacity at the hotel, they strictly enforced the 10pm closing of the pool area. Ridiculous when there is no lifeguard on duty, and there are adults that would like to stay in the hot tub for a few min past 10pm. There are minimum amenities available - small work out room with no towels or water. Must purchase Costco $.25 waters for sale for $3.00 each. The cost for a night is obscene for this place. The end of our trip specifically Ashton at the front desk was RUDE, CONDESCENDING. On day 4 at 2:45am, I was charged 20.00, I inquired in the morning and that is where I encountered Ashton. I was given a 20.00 discount for one of my dogs. Ashton said we don't do discounts for anyone. He shaking his head at me using a condescending voice and just kept going. Of course, now I am pissed giving him the same attitude back. I thought that was very nice, I totally appreciated the help from Dylan. We had a great start to our trip. Dylan and Scott were very nice! Room was big and beautiful. Beds are very saggy, we did ask the front desk to check it, that didn't happen. The kitchens had nothing in them. Grandkids loved the pool. Rooms are huge, beds are comfy, (though there is no mattress pad under the sheets,) thus the three stars. Our room was adequate for our night's stay but the service was appalling. There was literally no one at the desk when we arrived on a late flight; we rang, we called, we knocked... for twenty minutes. Finally a woman arrived saying, "I was making an airport run." (Well, maybe you could have left a note? ) She never apologized, just coldly asked, " What's your name? ...It's been a crazy day." I wish this place would franchise out, because they do a good job here and other hotels could take notes. All the staff here is very friendly and accommodating, from the desk clerks to the people who tend the complimentary breakfast bar to housekeeping. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with the biggest fridge I have ever seen in a hotel outside of Las Vegas! There is even a two burner counter stove, microwave and sink, so long term stays would be nearly like home as you could hit the grocery store and make some of your meals here rather than eat out constantly. Pool here is nice, as well as the hot tub. Not a fancy set up, but it is clean and well maintained, much better than I have seen at other hotels. Business center is pretty well equipped to deal with computer, fax, and copier. Also, free wifi here that works well and doesn't make you jump through a bunch of hoops to get running. Bed was comfortable. While pillows weren't the best, they are much better than the stupid square pillows I have seen a lot of hotels going to. They allowed an early and late check-in/check-out, provided shuttle transport to/from the airport, and allowed us to use the transport wheelchair for my elderly mother at an event outside of the hotel. Booked a room on the way to Glacier park expecting better experience than nearby motels, but it fell short, to be honest. The room we got had a leaking toilet so we had to switch it. No apology from the front desk folks for the inconvenience and no offer to help move bags in the middle of the night. The other room had a clogged sink and had a noisy A/C. Overall, the lodge looked dated and could use some renovations (maybe besides the main lobby, but rooms - definitely). The only upside was that rooms were very big and parking was free. read more

We got a room right on the water and loved the view even enjoyed going out the patio door and walking straight down to the creek-beautiful just beautiful. After our walk we went to the restaurant and enjoyed a good meal. Portioning needs so much help my husband got the filet, it was the size of a silver dollar pancake . This lodge was very disappointing. I used an AAA discount but just for a room that sleeps 5 people with 2 queens and a disgusting pullout it was $310. The pullout couch had yellow stains and sand everywhere. The main area looked very nice and the staff seemed kind. They didn't offer any conditioner and the heater made the whole room smell like burnt hair. Also the breakfast is $9 per person. It should be free, especially for an over $300 hotel. The were people upstairs stomping and when we asked for blankets they said that they would see if they could find any and then proceeded to take 20 minutes although, staff was kind. I'm a tall guy. With a big head, both literally and metaphorically. And so, at the end of a long day of driving from Eastern Montana to Western Washington, I needed to rest it on a comfy pillow and a not-too-firm mattress. In a quiet room. A CLEAN room. I looked on Expedia for hotels in Missoula, and having found one that appealed to both my lack of sleep and my credit card, I called StoneCreek Lodge directly and spoke with C(K)assidy. I didn't mention anything about how I found them, but she offered the same room rate I saw online. Just so cheerful and professional on the phone, and once I got to the hotel, Cassidy was the same in person. Having been borne into a family in hospitality, I have reasonably high expectations, and mine were met and exceeded. The parking lot was clean. The lobby was clean. A little generic and sterile---anyone could think they were at a hospital---but I appreciated that it was clean. If you've read my other reviews, I tend to harp on that. Whether in the Covid Era or not, if I'm parting with my earned money, I want to stay or eat somewhere that is at least as spotless as my own borderline-clinically clean home. The room itself was a comfortable suite, with a little kitchen, a separate sitting area with a decent sofa, a bathroom that anyone in a wheelchair would find accessibly comfortable---and mine was not an accessibly-designed room. I was asleep before I could get the contact lenses out of my eyes. Nine hours later, I awoke to birds chirping. Not really, I heard semi trucks passing by, but at a far distance. So why not five stars? For one reason only: checking out the following morning, the two people behind the front desk seemed impatient in dealing with me. All I wanted to do was return the key cards, and to mention that one of the lighting fixtures in the bathroom was out. My concern did not warrant their concern, quite clearly. Oh, well. So, to recap: 1. It's in Missoula. My favorite town on the planet. 2. StoneCreek Lodge is only a block off of Interstate 90, at Exit 99. 3. It's clean. 4. The pool is open until 10PM, and it's larger than a bathtub---the size typical of non-four star properties' pools. 5. Cassidy/Kassidy is wonderful at her job, but if she's still working there in five more years, and not owning the place by then, I'll be sorely disappointed. Actually, I'll be disappointed if she's not working in her chosen field of study, Sociology. 6. StoneCreek Lodge is close, and I mean within just a couple of minutes, from all kinds of places to eat, from $ to $$$. 7. It's in MIssoula. (See point #1) So, that's it for now, until I return to Montana and want to sleep comfortably in a clean, affordable and comfortable room. Don't stay at this place! We had someone in the middle of the night try and get into our room twice! The first time we had to call down to the desk and get security. The second time they didn't do anything and we had to call the cops. When we complained the next morning, we got an "I'm so sorry..." by the college girl working the desk....don't waste your time. Pros: Hotel is new, roomy, clean and comfortable bed. Nothing around here at all so its quiet - no traffic noise. Free fast wifi, parking and basic breakfast. Coffee making, microwave and comfortable bed with quality linen. Cons: You need to drive around 3 miles to get to the other hotels, restaurants and services in the area. The tv is mounted on the wall but not facing have bed, so you need to sit in a chair to watch. Front office say "we hear that a lot". Only 2 large towels in the room. Randomly booked over the phone on expedia between Spokane and Missoula. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. When we first got there we got put into a room next to a cry baby which sounded like it was in our room. After a long day of driving I wasn't ready to put up with this so I went downstairs and they moved us to another room where we had no problems and slept well. Woke up in the morning to look out the window and see we were across the street from the big sky brewery which was a pleasant surprise. Not much else in the area so if you want to actually see Missoula I wouldn't stay here but if you are just passing through it is great. They have a breakfast downstairs from 7-9am nothing fancy but it'll help get you up and out the door. read more

I hoped this place would be worth the time it added to our drive and it did not disappoint. The lodge has a homey, slightly upscale feel as soon as you walk in, without sacrificing on child-friendliness. The staff and front desk attendant were all kind.The suite we booked was spacious and arranged well; my siblings and I kept joking that we were just going to end our trip here. It's a shame we were only able to stop for the night. The breakfast buffet was very good. Waffles, grits, oatmeal, bagels, muffins, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, juices, yogurt, coffees etc. I really liked that they had real dishes as well as styrofoam plates for families on the go. The amount of space you get in a room was wonderful however the rooms felt dated and dark. The walls were very thin and we could clearly hear our neighbors. Flew our Cessna into Missoula Airport for the night and went looking for a place to stay. Checked one motel and it was pricey. Checked Stone Creek and it was affordable. Checked out our two-room unit and amenities and found that it was more than just affordable - it was well worth the way-less cost than what that other place wanted. Clean building, professional yet friendly staff, great hot tub, super breakfast, and talk about a comfortable bed - the pillow top mattress allowed me to sleep clear through the night! Wow. I just spent 5 minutes having one of the most unpleasant interactions with a person in the service industry that I think I have had for some time. 1. I made a reservation on Hotels.com 2. We checked in with a lovely front desk person. 3. We went to dinner. 4. We came back, walked to our room with bags/luggage/etc. in hand, and found it to be filthy--not cleaned, dirty dishes, unmade beds. 5. I went down to the desk, asked for a room change. 6. The desk clerk changed my room "Right across the hall!" 7. I said, "I hope I am getting some kind of credit on my bill for this inconvenience." 8. The clerk said, "Nope. You booked through a 3rd party. Call them." 9. I said, "Okay...." 10. She said "Call Expedia, tell them, then they will contact us and see if we will change your rate." 11. I said, "Okay, then I am hoping you can upgrade me for my troubles?" 12. She said, "I have stayed at many hotels where the rooms are not clean." WHAT????? Hmmmm... She reluctantly upgraded us (and only at my request), passed me my new key, and said, "Here you go." No "Sorry for the issue."--no "I hope I've made things better and not worse." I walked away and said something to the effect of "Beautiful." Really? Not the place I want to vacation without trouble with my family. We were trying to get to the pool to give the kids time to swim. When faced with a hotel-caused dilemma the front desk person was rude, cold, and derogatory. I did not realize that booking through a 3rd party made me a 3rd class citizen. If that is the case--the hotel should be clear and put that on the booking agreement with the 3rd party website. Why would I want to stay here again? There is a lovely Wyndham across the street. More expensive, yes. But definitely worth not having to deal with the cold reception and reluctance to make a problem right that I encountered at StoneCreek Lodge. PS--A "mineral pool" still uses chlorine. My husband and I stop in Missoula about twice a year (once on the way to our destination and once on the way back). We usually stay at the chain hotels since that seems to be all there are to choose from in Missoula so when I found that the StoneCreek Lodge was locally owned I thought it might be a nice change. That ended up being a huge mistake. We'd booked our room (a basic queen) for one night. Missoula is our halfway point and by the time we make it there we've usually been driving for about 8-9 hours and are ready to settle in and relax. We made sure to time our arrival around check-in time (3:00 - we arrived at 2:55). When we went to check in, there were a girl and guy behind the desk, and we were told by the girl that our room was not quite ready - and that it should be about 20 minutes before it would be good to go. We were mildly put out (we had carried all our luggage in with the idea that we would be heading straight to the room). Things really just started badly from there and never got better - when the lady at the desk informed us that the room was not ready it was without apology or concern. She just said, "Your room's not ready yet - should be about 20 minutes. We'll call you when it's ready" and motioned for us to be seated in the lobby. We soon found that we were not alone - there was another family also waiting in the lobby for their room to be ready. Apparently they had already been there for 45 minutes waiting. About 30 minutes after our arrival (now 10 minutes past when our room was supposedly going to be ready) the other family went to the desk to check on their room. From where I was sitting I heard the lady ask, "And what's your name again?" It was crazy - those people had been sitting there for now over an hour waiting for their room to be ready and the front desk person didn't even remember the name or room number they were waiting for? They checked on the room status and hooray! Yes, it was ready! For who knows how long since they didn't even remember what room they had been making those people wait for... About 3:50 we went back up to the desk to check on our room. Still not ready. I asked the other front desk person if they had any rooms that were clean at that moment at all. He looked it up and said, why yes, there is a king room that's clean and ready to go - and for an extra $40 it could be mine. I suggested that he just switch us to that room and let us pay the queen rate (seeing as we had now been waiting in the lobby for an hour (with no apology whatsoever)). He said he was "not authorized to do that" but that "your room will probably be done really soon now". We were finally able to check in just a little while later - all told about an hour and 10 minutes after check in time, waiting in the lobby, while the front desk staff tried very hard to ignore us and forget our names (we had to tell them who we were the two times we came up to check on our room) So - we get to the room - hoping to see an immaculately cleaned oasis (seeing as it took over an hour to clean) and were sorely disappointed to find the carpet stained and fraying, the bed hastily made and the floors obviously not mopped or vacuumed. To top it off, the pillows were terribly uncomfortable and the TV nearly impossible to see from the bed. The next morning while checking out it was our misfortune to have the same girl who checked us in working the desk again. We waited for her to ask us, "how was your stay?" as we planned to bring up our issues to whomever was working the desk in the morning. That did not happen. So, we had to bring it up ourselves (after she went ahead and charged our card). We let her know that we were really disappointed with how the check in went and that it would have been really helpful to have gotten an apology immediately when the room wasn't ready. And when it became obvious that the room wouldn't be ready for another hour - we should have been offered whatever clean room they had open (without an up-charge) without having to ask. She just stared at us blankly and replied, "sorry 'bout that"...and then silence. So, long story short...staff totally not capable of handling issues - not authorized or don't care - whatever the reason, I'm left feeling like they are not concerned at all about our business. On top of the bad service - the carpets don't look to have been cleaned in a few years (really bad stains in the hallway). Also - you have to drive if you want to eat - the place is not convenient to anything in Missoula. I would never recommend this place and will not be staying again. Simply terrible experience all around. read more
