A couple of warnings: you are staying in a house that was built over a hundred years ago. All things considered, it's in great shape, but as of now, the exterior drastically needs a paint job. The Victorian nature of the house makes it look a little like the Psycho house. Don't give up, just go inside! However, once you are inside, you are in heaven. Karen is the nicest person you could imagine hosting a B&B. She was very excited to be sold out for a special event at the Star Trek tour. The place looks great inside (see my photos). We stayed in the Rose Room. The room was huge, with a very good bed. The bathroom is large as well. We loved everything about it, except for two small things. The jacuzzi tub does not have a shower. I did not notice this when reserving the room. Of course, a bath is fine. The only other complaint I have is that the wifi did not work in our room. It's a very big house, so I was not completely surprised. Our cell phones worked fine (Verizon). Wifi worked fine in the living room, which is also a very comfortable area. There is a flat-screen TV with Hulu in the living area (which happens to have the Star Trek episodes...). There are very large lawn areas outside the house, which would be perfect for events like wedding. I saved the best for last. The breakfasts are amazing. All home-made. In four days I put on three pounds! With my wife being vegan, we are used to getting no choice for breakfast, but she gave multiple vegan options every day we were there. KAren is really sweet and tries very hard to make everyone happy!

Also, if you want to explore the inn's 200 acres of forest, fields and meadows you'll easily have your fill of nature without having to drive to a trailhead. I loved my morning walks through seemingly endless fields of wildflowers and then visiting the pond. Also, the farm fresh breakfast is incredible with Meghan & Tyler being the best hosts of any B&B I've been to in recent years.

The rooms are gorgeous, clean, and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful with surrounding mountain vistas and stream. It's conveniently located with just a quick drive to Lake Placid, Keene Valley, and the Cascade xc ski park. Our hosts made us feel so welcome. There's a mini guest kitchen we used to store some of our snacks we brought and many nooks and places to enjoy meals if you don't feel like eating out. We loved our time there and can't wait to continue to visit.

My husband had the honors of picking our accommodations for our first solo trip without our son…read moresince he was born & he did a great job picking the Roostercomb suite at the Roostercomb Inn! Keane Valley is about 30 mins south of Lake Placid and only an hour from Plattsburgh. It's an incredibly beautiful area with plenty of hiking, waterfalls, peaks, rivers, and crystal clear lakes. The Roostercomb Inn is the perfect location because most of the trailheads we went to we're 5-15 minutes away by car. It's right off the main road in town, next to Black Mountain Coffee, and down the street for a little market named Valley Grocery. The Inn is mostly hostel style with 6 bedrooms varying from queen size bed, to twins, to even bunk beds with communal bathrooms. There's 2 bathrooms with showers/tub, and 2 bathrooms with just toilets. The suite we rented had it's own private bath, which to us was worth the extra money. The inn has a fully stocked kitchen so you can cook all 3 meals a day if you want, though I would recommend eating at least one meal at Forty Six restaurant down the street! There's two dining tables inside, and an outside table on the back patio which also has a grill, lounge chair, place to hang wet clothes, and a gorgeous view of the mountains. There's a fire pit out back, and the garden around the inn has beautiful flowers. The bottom floor of the front of the inn has a real fire place, some super comfy chairs for lounging, and another small kitchen with dining table in case there's the need. The rest of the downstairs are living quarters for the tenants. This building is from the 1800s, and although the hallways are a little crooked, there's so much character to this place! Most of the furniture is hand made wood and there's a lot of unique touches throughout. I will say that the bed definitely wasn't queen size and that the mattress needs to be replaced. Most guests probably sleep quickly and leave early, but we were really wanting to enjoy our time without our son and sleeping in was one of the goals! Noise levels weren't really a problem from inside, but there is a church across the street that chimes every hour and you can hear road noise. I also need to add that the windows need some curtains, because they don't block the sun and at night they are very lit up from the street lights. These are just a few touches that would've changed our stay from a 4 to a 5 star. I would say that being a suite they might want to add some more upgrades for couples who might be celebrating their wedding or anniversary. However, we would definitely stay here again! The little details in the room like the blow dryer, soaps, kitchenette that had both a coffee machine and hot water kettle were so thoughtful! They provided coffee beans and grinder for fresh coffee. They also had a tin with different teas. They provided all the cups, dishes, and silverware you would need so you could stay in your room. There's a small refrigerator and microwave as well. The closet had a cot bed that could be used for children, as well as additional pillows and blankets. There was a dresser for storing clothes, and a small electric fireplace. Magdalena is one of the owners and she was quite charming. She gave us recommendations of hikes in the area, and was very accommodating when asked for help. She gave me some of her chamomile tea when I didn't see any in our room or the shared kitchen, and she allowed us to come back and shower on our last day after we had checked out. We were hiking and swimming, and taking a flight later that night, so it was really nice for her to let us come back, especially since it ended up pouring rain in the afternoon! This place is quaint and lovely and has all the things you need for a wonderful vacation in the North Country of New York! The location is the perfect mix of small town amenities & close proximity to the nature trails! Check out my pictures as I've included some of the trails that were just a short drive from the Inn. Heads up, most of the trails do require reservations/permits. We will be back!

The…read morelake was just steps away (where we were encouraged to store our own kayaks), the views of the lake and surrounding mountains were wonderful, and despite it being only a few miles from Saranac Lake village, it felt many miles away from everything. The hosts were helpful and kind and we hope to come back to stay next Fall. The apartment is open with 2 beds next to each other which is great for a family and the kitchen was fully-equipped.

Beautiful, extremely clean, very comfortable, and close to the Santa Village as well as other sight seeing places such as Lake George, Lake Placid, and of course White Face Mountain. The view of White Face Mountain out your window was amazing! I can not say enough about the comfort of this home and the friendly owners, Jeremy and Cassandra. They gave us privacy but were just a phone call away if needed. We had a fantastic weekend and would highly recommend this house.

We stayed the first time when I had an asthma attack from the hotel on top of the hill and had to get out and take a walk to breathe. I was looking up possible other hotels and saw the sign for the Haus. I found the number and called and Mr. Michael was amazing and was able to get me and my son a room! It was clean, pretty, and we had everything we needed and loved being right on Main Street. We were able to walk wherever we wanted and after we wanted to stay longer. Yulia the manager moved us to the room across the hall since ours was taken and we wanted to stay longer and ended up in number 10 for the past 2 nights. What bliss! The staff was amazing! They were available easily by text or phone and accommodated us with any need we had! Towels... change of sheets, cleaning. We went back again the following year, last year 2023 and stayed in another suite since the ones we wanted were not available but without fail, we loved everything about our stay! This time dad came along and he enjoyed it too. Needless to say, we look super forward to being there again this year! Third year in a row! Thank you!
