I've witnessed employees assaulted by coworkers who remained employed afterward. I've witnessed stores left with a single employee to run the floor, even though robberies and emergencies happen. You claim theft is hurting your business, yet I've watched used makeup accepted for return. I've watched open food refunded. I've watched broken jewelry refunded after a customer admitted she wore it until it broke. At the same time, food that is still safe to eat is pulled from shelves and thrown into the dumpster instead of being donated to people who need it. Then there are the hours. Hiring someone as "full-time" means nothing if they're scheduled 12 hours a week. People can't pay rent, buy groceries, afford medications, or support their families on promises. Many Walgreens employees work two or three jobs just to survive. Your employees deserve safe workplaces. They deserve adequate staffing. They deserve consistent hours. She told me where I could find the glasses if I were to come in, and assured me they had a variety of strengths. Ten minutes later I was in purchasing glasses (they saved the day), and she and a gentleman were behind the register and were incredibly personable and friendly. You'll often find 91 year old Bill Penn still behind the pharmacy counter, filling prescriptions as he has since the 50's. Never too busy to answer questions about your medications or discuss current affairs in our little town, Bill is a community icon! Whether you're in the area for "Iowa's Championship Rodeo" or a leisurely picnic at Waughbonsie State Park (with magnificent views of the Missouri river bottom from the scenic overlook).
