    Garlic Buttered Escargot

This was our first dinner here. We spent a weekend getaway near Banner Elk. We chose Stonewalls for our anniversary dinner. We both love a good steak. My husband would have liked more steak options. It seemed a limited menu. (I booked this place because of the escargot app) We started with garlic escargot! Super great. The little crostini with it is a take it or leave it it makes eating the escargot a little messy. For our mains. My husband got the ribeye. And I got the 10oz prime rib. I would have liked a bigger plate for my prime rib. Flavors were all there. For my side I had the sweet potatoes. And I got the mushrooms as my enhancement. Super nice serving. Service was great. But we just wanted a little more... to our dining experience. I thought it was going to be a more intimate vibe For dessert we indulged! We had the key lime pie and peach cobbler. Super yum! Parking is a little tight. FYI. You can park across the street in a nice paved parking lot.

We arrived shortly after they opened, had a reservation and had a great table in a smaller section of the restaurant. The ambiance was calming and comfortable with a modern decor. Our server was very personable and fun. She was attentive at the right time, giving us ample time to feel relaxed and able to enjoy our cocktails and appetizer of amazing fried deviled eggs. All of our entrees were delicious except for the lobster bisque. No chunks of lobster, all creamy texture with a beer cheese soup flavor. :(

We recently ordered takeout from Stonewalls and it was amazing! After a day of exploring the Banner Elk area we were unsure of where to eat so we checked Yelp for reviews. I also had recommendations from our Airbnb host to eat here but was hesitant because of the live music. Often it's too loud for me but this was not the case here. It looked like a simple one man setup with no super loud equipment. We decided to check out the menu in person and to see if there were any specials not listed online, and I'm so glad we did. We walked in, were given menus and directed to the bar to order. The bartender Colton was extremely attentive and rattled off numerous specials with ease, making a recommendation when I had questions. Once home, the food was amazing and we ate every bit. From bread to dessert (delicious key lime pie and crème brûlée), everything was perfect. We will 1000% eat here when we're back in town!

The service was amazing - walked right in and got seated without a reservation. Our server was great and attentive. The food is why 3 stars it was just ehhh. We got the potato skins - just lacking flavor with cold melted cheese. I got the chicken which was chewy but the flavor was fine. Mash potatoes were good. Shrimp skewer was just lacking flavor. Hubby got the ribeye, it was fine- nothing special. Kids got the fish was fine after adding lemon and a burger which he ate about half of. Overall the price wasn't bad and the food wasn't bad just not out of this world.

Yes! Under new ownership. Better food and ambiance! Go you won’t regret it!

Honestly, it looked exactly the way a restaurant wishes it looked every night in December. And that wine list is impressive. They've curated it well. We started strong. The BBQ shrimp over grits was the star of round one. The grits were phenomenal, silky and flavorful, the kind of grits that make you pause and appreciate how simple things can be done exceptionally well. The fries were perfect, crisp and hot, and the beet salad was fresh and bright. And then... the lull. There was a noticeably long gap between appetizers and mains, you could see the food flow from the kitchen just stop. Our server mentioned a chef was out sick, which we totally understood, especially on a night when the whole town seemed to be out celebrating. But the wait was long enough that it changed the rhythm of the meal. When the entrées arrived, mine had clearly been living under a heat lamp a little too long. I ordered the bison meatloaf. The meatloaf itself was good, nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about. The mac and cheese, though -- gummy, sticky, just not its best moment. My husband ordered the cioppino, and the flavor was really good, but it was served in such an oversized bowl that you practically had to tip it to get to the broth -- and cioppino is all about the broth. Still, even with the hiccups, I'd absolutely go back. The charm of the spot, the genuinely excellent starters, the thoughtful wine list, and the overall warmth of the place far outweigh the blip we hit -- and on a wildly busy parade night with a short-staffed kitchen, it's understandable. LP on Main is worth another visit, and I'm confident that on a normal night, the kitchen timing would match the quality of the food they're capable of putting out.

With no reservation they were kind enough to give us a table outside at 6pm, peak dinner time. We really were just anxious to eat some good Italian. The service and attention were great. Lindsay the waitress was amazing. And the place is beautiful as the people eating there. But here is where it gets a little off. Chicken Piccata is Chicken Piccata in every Italian eatery (look up the recipe)... always perhaps with variation, of course. But I should have read the description better and that's my bad because I was just anxious to eat and I did not get any such sort of traditional Chicken piccata! It wasn't a bad dish, but it was something that I never would have ordered if they had called it something else! Sautéed Chicken in wine and lemon sauce and some creamy fettuccine-type sauce on a bed of mashed potatoes (I hate potatoes, especially mashed) with veggies is so off the mark that I left full (because I was too hungry to complain), but disappointed. I also am no fan of sautéed chicken! Boring! For that dish I paid $30+ I could throw that together at home for much less, but real piccata takes more effort. That's why I ordered it! My wife's spaghetti and meatballs was more affordable but also a bit of a mystery. Great, tender meatballs, true, but the spaghetti was served in tiny pieces as if they were crumbled before boiling! Wtf! Not long strands that you can roll on your fork, but small cut strands?!? And the gravy tasted like a can of Italian chopped tomatoes were poured right out of the can, heated and served. That's not Sunday gravy! Wtf? Yeah, after all these years eating Italian in so many restaurants, I'm not sure why this meal was so off the beaten path. I was lazy, did not read the description and trusted the name of the dish. And, to my horror got mashed potatoes which I couldn't eat. The beer and wine were not pricey, though. And the bread was the best part of the meal. Sorry guys. Don't serve hotdogs and call it steak, if you know what I mean.

The Venue The experience begins long before the first bite. A winding drive through a ranch-like entrance sets a tone of quiet anticipation, leading to a stunning property that feels both secluded and intentional. Valet parking is seamless, and from that first interaction, the service establishes a standard of excellence that carries throughout the evening. The Food The prix fixe menu is a true celebration of farm-to-table cuisine. Each dish is thoughtful, seasonal, and executed with remarkable precision. No two plates felt repetitive; instead, each course revealed a new perspective, a new technique, a new flavor story. We were told the menu evolves constantly with the seasons--aside from the bread, which thankfully remains a constant. And rightly so: it is nothing short of spectacular. While every course impressed, one dish remains unforgettable--the chocolate wasabi ice cream. Initially, we hesitated. Wasabi in a dessert seemed implausible, even risky. Yet our server confidently assured us it was exceptional--and his personal favorite. Trusting his expertise proved rewarding. The result was revelatory: balanced, nuanced, and utterly addictive. So much so that after finishing both desserts, we wished we had ordered a second serving of the chocolate wasabi alone. It was a moment of culinary brilliance we will not soon forget. The Service If the service could be described in one word, it would be excellence. Attentive without intrusion, knowledgeable without pretense. One gentleman, distinguished by his accent and effortless professionalism, stood out as a true asset to the establishment. Service of this caliber elevates the entire experience. Final Thoughts Living five hours away is almost unfortunate--but also an invitation. This meal alone is reason enough to return to the Appalachian Mountains more often. We are grateful to have experienced such a memorable and inspired expression of modern cuisine. Thank you for an evening we will long remember.

Last night we ate there with the same couple who dined with us the first time...and we all were quite disappointed, unfortunately. My husband and I shared the NY strip steak. There was a surprising amount of fat for this cut of meat, and the steak also had none of that delicious char you expect. It was a bit underdone for the medium we'd requested, but not too far off. Our friends fared worse. The husband ordered a rib eye and deemed it "just ok." The wife ordered a filet cooked medium and it came out completely rare. She tried eating around the edges but left most of her steak untouched (I would have sent mine back to the kitchen if I were her, but my friend is wary of sending meat back; she said she was afraid it would then be overcooked). Her broccolini side dish was so undercooked that it was basically raw, so she didn't eat that either. The french fries and baked potato were fine, and our server was capable and pleasant. However, given the overall experience, we won't be back. That type of meal is handled much better by Stonewall's in Banner Elk.
