The service and the food are incredible, and when there's enough light outside the views are unparalleled. Great music selection too. I had one of the best steaks of my life, served to me on a log. They were also very accommodating with allergies and preferences.

Simply excellent. Everything. The valet, the hostess, the bartender. Everyone. Fantastic dirty martini. The soups, salads and appetizers. First class. The restaurant is small and intimate. The staff takes time to talk to you and make sure everything is to your liking. The desserts are amazing. The portion sizes are great. You have room to sample it all without being stuffed. Quality over quantity for sure. Take time to savor the views. This place is perched to a cliff.

First timers here, and we were thrilled from start to finish (minus our table, we had an undesirable table as far as location & view; especially being seated next to a bachelorette party that grew increasingly rowdy & loud as the evening went on). Other than that, we were treated impeccably from valet, to hostess, to bartenders and the servers, and the food was stellar. I made reservations at Gideon Ridge for our anniversary and it was sweet of them to acknowledge it throughout our visit. Our server, Anthony, was engaging and extremely fluent in the menu and special options, where the veggies and proteins came from, and how they were prepared. We started off with the artisan cheese plate, which had a great variety of cheeses, veggies, fruit and nuts. For the second course, we selected the farmers salad and watermelon gazpacho. We honestly shared because both were prepared to perfection and tasted amazing. For the entrees my hubby chose the duck breast and I had one of the specials for the night, red snapper, with scallops added. My husband loved his entree, especially with the black rice and duck lardons. The red snapper entree was moist and crisp, with tomatoes and carrots under it and a delicious broth. The scallops were perfectly seared and hit the spot. For dessert, I went with espresso and the burnt cheesecake, and my guy selected the bourbon maple creme brûlée. What an amazing way to end the night!! Again, Anthony was a fabulous server, and the way the table was cleared and re-set between courses was very fluid; I didn't catch the hostess' name but we bonded over our mutual love of sharks, and the two hours spent at Gideon Ridge was nothing short of magical. We visit the area annually, and I'll be online two weeks in advance of our next vacay to score reservations at this stellar restaurant!!

Restaurant at Gideon Ridge has been ranked as the second-best fine dining experience in the United States, according to Tripadvisor. The Restaurant at Gideon Ridge is attached to the Gideon Ridge Inn which overlooks the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Diners get to sit down and enjoy their meal at an elevation of 3,990 feet overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. Food was solid. People were warm and friendly. This place is full of ambiance. A trek worth making for a mountain escape.

Gideon Ridge is a very special place. I've lived in the High Country the majority of my life & the view from the sunroom will leave you in awe. I'm a classically trained chef (Johnson & Wales - Charleston, SC 2003) & can't stop thinking about the presentation, flavors & textures on each plate. Chef Hunter Womble creates menus that incorporate & highlight local ingredients. Each dish he offered was perfectly balanced, comforting & seasoned to perfection. His ambition coupled with his rare talent gives Blowing Rock a true dining experience that rivals some of the best restaurants in the USA. I can't wait to try more offerings as the seasons change. Reservations are required.

One of the best food experiences we've had in a while! Everything from the ambiance, the restaurant, the service and the food! We started our meal with the pork belly appetizer and the cauliflower and caramelized onion bisque- never knew I loved cauliflower until that moment! If all the cauliflower tastes like that I'll eat it everyday! Later the chef came by and gave us his recommendations. Based on that we decided to try the scallop dish and the venison! Both were perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful! At the end we knew we should share a dessert but couldn't decide- so we went with hubby's favorite, creme brulee, and the recommendation, trio beurre! Can't tell you which one was better- all of it was heavenly! It was one of those meals where you walk away from the restaurant with a big smile feeling like you are on cloud nine! My only regret- not getting there earlier to see the amazing views!

Excellent meal here tonight. Jeremy was our server and he made wonderful recommendations. I really DID have the best pork chop of my life. The chef came out before dinner to describe a few of the seasonal appetizers. We ordered both of them. Boy was that calamari amazing! The pork cheek was very good as well.

Gideons Ridge is just spectacular. The food, service and ambience are perfection. Highly recommend.

This place has an amazing view. On one side the full moon was shining bright and on the other side the sunset streaked across the sky with beautiful pink and orange rays over the mountain range. If you like taking pictures of views, recommend getting to the restaurant about 15-30 minutes before sunset to take pictures. There is limited parking, but we were still able to park on the side of the road next to the restaurant. We made dinner reservations through their website, which went smoothly. Masks are mandatory. They do have masks if you do not have one as well as hand sanitizer at the front door. Tables are adequately spaced from each other. We ate here the week after Christmas and they still had green wreaths hanging on the windows from wide red and green striped ribbons and cute embellished trees on each table. I love that the seating area exterior is just clear window panes, so you get a view no matter where you sit. There are also skylights and pretty crystal chandeliers hanging. The interior has pretty grey stone walls. For drinks, we enjoyed the Fable Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Napa and the Revelry blend 2017 Columbia. Their menu is separated into first, second, thirds. We didn't try a first but we did try a second, which was a beef farro soup. The soup had chopped ribeye, shiitake mushrooms, and pea tendrils. It was good. It reminded me of a comforting homecooked soup. I liked that it was light on the salt. For thirds we tried the prime beef delmonico and the half rack lamb chops. Both were delicious, the meat was fresh and tender. Both dishes were served with green beans and long sliced carrots. The prime beef dish also came with a cauliflower and celery root puree and cold pickled beech mushrooms over a peppercorn demi-glace. They recommended both meats to be cooked medium rare but you can still choose how you want them cooked. I only have some minor complaints. My chair was slightly wobbly and one of our soup spoons had a food residue stuck on it. I'm just saying, if we're going to shell out big bucks for dinner, everything should be perfect. Nevertheless, if you're willing to splurge, this is a perfect place to have a romantic dinner with a pretty view.

We found parking on a side street near Blowing Rock Brewing, so decided to enjoy a drink and get some lunch. We were seated quickly, near a heater, which was nice to help us warm up after being on the mountain. A waiter came by with menus to take our order. We asked for some suggestions, but he was a little less than enthused to offer advise. They had a good variety of beers, so my wife and I each got one, and shared them. We got the Pina Colada Kolsch and the Cloud Rise Hazy Ipa. Both were tasty, the Pina Colada Kolsch had a much stronger pineapple flavor than I expected, but in a good way. For food we started with the white cheddar poblano, which I expected to be more of a liquid queso for some reason. It was instead for of a soft, spread, which was really good, and paired well with the chips. And then we split the Turkey Reuben, which I figured would be made with deli meat, instead, it was warm, cooked chunks of turkey, really great flavor, and hit the spot for us. The sides with the sandwiches were a bit lacking, only offering hot chips, and green beans....I've never gotten the whole hot chip craze, but green beans just seamed like too odd of a side option for a sandwich It was a good visit, and a good meal, to get us back on our feet. Overall, a nice space, with bar seating, a back room, a back and front patio, plenty of space to hang out, relax and enjoy their beer. Food and drink were both good and worth a visit if you're in the area.

Traveling solo, I sat at the bar and found the service friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout my visit. My drink stayed filled, and the staff did a great job making a solo diner feel comfortable. I started with the soup, which was excellent and a great way to begin the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the large mac and cheese. The portion was generous, rich, and very satisfying after a long day of riding in the mountains. Everything was served hot and prepared with care. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, making it a great place to unwind after spending the day exploring the area. The restaurant felt welcoming without being overly formal, and I never felt rushed during my meal. Overall, I had a very good experience. Good food, attentive service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Hidden Gem in Blowing Rock…read more After spending the morning at Grandfather Mountain, I took the scenic route into Blowing Rock and stumbled onto an absolute gem. Hellbender Bed & Beverage and Bistro Roca share the same space now, and the result is one of the most charming spots I've found in the High Country. The outdoor patio was beautiful, with flowers everywhere, cozy seating areas, fire pits, and plenty of dogs lounging alongside their owners. The gravel patio was a little uneven, so my table had a slight tilt, but honestly, the atmosphere more than made up for it. I started with a glass of Crémant de Loire. Crisp, cold, refreshing, and exactly what I wanted after a morning of mountain exploring. For lunch, I ordered the Moules Frites. The mussels arrived swimming in a rich, flavorful broth with basil and sun-dried tomatoes, alongside a generous pile of perfectly cooked fries. The combination with the sparkling wine was fantastic. I cleaned the plate. The service was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. My only suggestion is a little more attention to the details. If you're serving mussels, a spoon is almost essential for enjoying that incredible broth. A smaller seafood fork would also make fishing out the mussels easier. Minor things, but details that can elevate a great meal into an exceptional one. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. My entrée and glass of bubbles came in around $23, which felt like a great value considering the quality, portion size, and setting. I skipped dessert only because I was determined to finish every last fry, then headed into town to walk off lunch and hunt for something sweet. If I return--and I absolutely would--I might even stay at the inn. The cottages looked adorable, and the whole property felt warm and inviting. Just a short walk from downtown Blowing Rock, this place delivers on atmosphere, food, and mountain-town charm. Five stars for the food. Four stars for service. Five stars overall because I'd happily come back tomorrow. Life is too short to eat mediocre food. Get out there and stuff your face.

She told me she had a hard time believing me because not one other customer had complained about their food. She also said I should have told her. We did tell our server. I didn't want compensation or anything, I simply wanted her to know because it wasn't their typical. She apparently is not interested in repeat customers. By the way this is the first google review I've ever done of this nature. Typically, a manager is interested in the verbal feedback of a customer. Her attitude with me last night squelched our desire to ever go back. (FYI.... based on our conversation last night: if you have an oyster allergy you need to tell them. Most of their dishes are cross contaminated because, in their words: "Due to a small kitchen, items are stored together and everything is fried in the same grease, including the fried green tomatoes.")
