Man, oh man, this place is on fire! It's bigger than it looks from the outside. Plenty of parking. No wait for a table. The actual owners were right there with all the staff, which is something you don't see very often anymore. Service was fantastic. Our server was super friendly and energetic, and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. The food was top notch. My husband chose the daily special - country fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, cheesy broccoli casserole, and toast. He thoroughly enjoyed it and washed it down with what he said was the best sweet tea he's had in a very long time. I chose the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. The pork was delicious and juicy, and even better after I smothered it with their bbq sauce. I ate it in record time. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich and amazing. My only complaint was it had a lot of pepper. Some pepper is good, but this was a lot. I still ate every bite though, because it was that dang good. I wish we would have saved room for dessert because they had banana pudding and that's one of my all time fav desserts. I am not a fan of our local BBQ sauce but Stoney's is a BBQ joint that I can definitely get down with. While my husband loves the ribs, they offer a loaded baked potato that knocks it out of the park. Even with the sauce on the baked potato, it's incredible. This is not the most amazing BBQ ever, but it is good. Smoked chicken has a nice peppery rub, brisket is tender, ribs are good. For the sides, I can only say the potato salad and cole slaw are good - not great - because that's about all I ever eat with BBQ (they have the look and feel of pre-made packaged, not house-made, but they're still not bad). I did get the fries once and they are okay, too (frozen crinkle cut; again not house made fresh cut). They have a standard Texas style sauce on the table, but you should really try the North Carolina style vinegar sauce. Sharp and spicy - good stuff!! (But don't use it until you try the meat first, and don't drown your meat. As they say in Texas - "good meat don't need no sauce"). Service might be slow sometimes, but it's always friendly and makes for a nice time to relax a bit (we should get used to that - relaxing and slowing down to enjoy our meals with friends should be normal, don't ya think?). I see some complaints about prices. Not sure what that's about because the prices here are about the same as most other BBQ joints. If you want a $5 lunch, go to Subway. This is a good spot, convenient location, with pretty good food. And even if it's not the best BBQ ever, it's as good as it gets in Saraland. After a long, long drive we decided to order take-out from Stoney's. We ordered the three meet (I'm starving) plate and sampled pulled pork, sausage, and brisket. Sides were cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans. We also ordered some extra Texas toast. We didn't have amazing expectations, but when we got back to our hotel room and served dinner up, we were beyond pleasantly surprised. It is not an understatement to say it helped make the night great! We appreciate the nice lady who took our order over the phone as well as the short drive from our hotel. I had the three rib/two side lunch special and a cup of chili. The chili tasted like it came out of a can. The server claims they make it fresh, but I have my doubts. The ribs were too soft (are they boiled?) and tasteless. The only sauce they offer is Sweet Baby Ray's. I like Sweet Baby Ray's, but I can eat that at my house whenever I want. I expect a real barbeque restaurant to make their own. As far as the sides: the potato salad had way too much mustard, but the baked beans were really good. Go figure. I was in town working with the school district and they recommended this spot for lunch. I had the stuffed baked potato with brisket. It was large and full of goodness: cheese, real bacon crumbles, green onions, and of course meat. The brisket was chopped to make it easier to eat. It came with a side of sour cream and a side of BBQ sauce. I would order again but might try the pulled pork just to see how theirs is. And I would ask for extra sour cream because I like a lot! I got my food to go so can't comment much on the service, but the place was pretty spacious, busy, and my order was ready quickly. Service was very fast and friendly but the food was not near as good as it was last time I had eaten here. The pulled pork was very watery and tasted like it was just cooked in a crockpot. I stopped in Stoney's on 1-12-2019 for the first time ever, mostly because of the awkward business hours and they're never open when I drive by, but after the "First Impression" I received this evening with My Takeout Order, I'll never have to worry about it again. I ordered the 2 Meat Plate with Sausage and Beef Brisket for $14.99, which I didn't think was a bad price and states on the restaurant menu in quotation marks "I'm Really Hungry", until I opened the box and saw Two, Small, Very Dry Slices of Brisket-Like BS... The Mac and Cheese had Absolutely No Flavor and the Baked Beans were straight out of a can with maybe a few onions and peppers added before more cans we're dumped in the pot to stretch out the product. I'm Highly Disappointed in such an establishment that Boasts about being the Best BBQ is Saraland, they should really be Ashamed of Themselves and their False Advertisement and/or lack of Quality Control Measures within the kitchen. They won't have to worry about many more bad reviews for much longer at the rate they are running their operation because they'll be closing the doors for good before to long. read more

Stoney's BBQ is a good ol' all-American establishment with tasty BBQ and homestyle sides. I purchased a brisket loaded baked potato. It was very filling and tasted delicious. It's only downfall was they used brisket crumbles and I couldn't distinguish the brisket from the bacon. The prices were pretty standard but after paying $2.25 for my sweet tea (very good tea but I should have gotten water) my check was $12-something plus tip racked up to be about a $15 lunch. My husband will surely complain. Ha ha I am very glad hey opened in Saraland! I saw what other people were ordering and their other entrees looked amazing! Their pickles looked good too :) read more

I stopped in and bought three things of their vinegar based bbq sauce yesterday for some friends of mine. Once I got home I was looking at the containers and each of them had food on them. I thought it was odd but assumed they had food on their hands when checking me out. I then noticed no safety seal on the exterior of the bottle as on the manufacturers website. I popped the cap and there was no styrofoam or foil safety seal either. I can't give these OPENED bottles to people!!!! So I have $15 worth of bbq sauce that will not be used due to them selling opened bbq sauce. I wish she had told me prior to purchase because I would have declined purchasing them. This place was great. Outside of town and not being located in a strip mall made for a nice environment. I had the three meat sampler to ensure a well rounded experience. The smoked sausage and pulled pork was great. The brisket had a great flavor, but the tenderness seemed to indicate that it was cooked too fast. However it was still the best restaurant brisket I have had in a long time. The sides were absolutely amazing, with the macaroni and cheese being the best I have ever had. Just passing through Mobile and read the reviews on Stoney's. Stopped with my family and had amazing dinner. Pork plate was awesome as were the french fries and Mac n cheese. They are very friendly and made us feel right at home. Only down side to Stoney's is that the sodas are $2.25. Even though you get refills, I still think that is high. I live within one mile of this restaurant, and was very excited about the opening of a bbq place near where I live. After only two visits, my mind has made a 180 and is looking the other way. The first visit was on a Friday around lunch. The waitress we had was sub par. She got our meal out to us, but we had to ask multiple times for silverware, drinks, sauce, and napkins. The food was a little above average in taste. We had the pulled pork sandwiches, Mac n cheese, baked beans, fries, and soft drinks. When we got the check for around $30 for two people at lunch, I was blown away. The second visit was a call-in order. We were told 20 min. I waited until 25 min to go up there and still had to wait another 5 min for the food to be prepared. We again ordered the pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, Mac n cheese, and two drinks. Order total of $27.00. I was again blown away, but at least expected it this time. When I got home both sandwiches had pickles on them with the pork and top buns saturated with pickle juice. I couldn't even eat any of my sandwich and my wife couldn't eat more than half of hers. Needless to say, this family will not be returning to Stoney's for any reason. read more

We have been here several times and the BBQ is great. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. Service on more than one visit has been friendly but slow. I can't comment on the pulled pork BBQ because I've never had it. Why? Cause I can't stop getting the smoked chicken. The smoked chicken here is absolutely mouth watering. So so good. I reserve the 5th star for one reason and it's the same as others have commented. The sides are good and well cooked but nothing you couldn't get anywhere else.
