I wanted a straight-forward, well-kept, non-commercial farm, and you not only get that with Sugar Ridge, but I have also found a family with these ladies and the horses there. The grounds are gorgeous, with plenty of room to ride and options to suit each skillset. It's been amazing to learn more about these gorgeous animals, and it does a world of good just being around them. You can also tell how well-taken care of the horses are just by how affectionate they are with Carin; she does an absolutely incredible job with them and it shows. She is also an amazing instructor, and I couldn't imagine being taught by anyone else. (Nor would I want to!) I highly recommend Sugar Ridge, whether you've never been on a horse or have a lifetime of experience, Carin's training ability and versatility is unparalleled.

I currently board my 30 year old gelding with her. I have him on full board, and he couldn't get better care, she treats him as if he were her own. There is a heated tack room, with cable TV and a REAL bathroom. It's hard to find barns with those around here. The barn itself offers box stalls, and is in fantastic condition. There are also a few in/out stalls available. The outside is beautifully maintained. The horses all have decent sized individual paddocks, with water spouts and protection from the elements in each one. There is an outside wash stall, a large outside arena with excellent lighting. A newly renovated and large round pen. They offer full board, semi rough, and rough board. All at extremely reasonable prices. They offer clinics, cow sorting and fun shows on property, and travel to all sorts of area shows. I can't say it enough. My horse and I absolutely love it here.

Relaxing, quiet, and so many nice spots to enjoy the ponds, waterfall, spring noises of frogs, and foliage in the fall. I ride my bike or run or walk through regularly and enjoy it. When I'm making dinner she doesn't play with dolls she practices her jumping on her hobby horse. She was given a hand me down bouncy horse and spends hours 'riding'. Trouble is, no one wants to actually put a five year old on a live animal. Five year olds, especially girls, are really still very little. Their legs are too short to reach the stirrups, they don't have muscle strength in their thighs to grip, and if the horse bolts they will go flying, because they simply aren't strong enough to control the big animals. I spent a lot of time asking and googling, and trying to find anyone who does riding classes for kids under 7, and finally I came to the end of my long journey at Clarion Farms. Carly, the sweet owner of the school, works with as many as 15 of these little budding equestrians at any time, as well as running a summer camp for young riders. She keeps some very mellow ponies and undersized helmets on site, and she really understands how to work with very young kids. A one hour class consists of saddling, including grooming the pony, leading it to the ring, 15 minutes of riding on a long lead, then brushing the horse down and cleaning tack. Perfect! I do highly recommend Carly to any parent who has a little kid who wants nothing but to get onto a horse. I wish she wasn't so far away from us, and the drive does make it impossible to get there more than a few times this summer, but it is so worth it for the happiness I can see on Ruby's face when she is on the pony!

I absolutely love that High View has so much to offer. My preference is Hunters & Jumpers, in the last few years Carol and I have moved into the Eq's and I have learned that I really enjoy it. Not only does High View offer these disciplines but many more including Western pleasure, eventing, and cow sorting. Carol is always willing to try new things, and for me personally these new endeavors are a really nice break from the same ol same ol. Not only are the trainers wonderful but their care for my horse is top notch. I really appreciate that my horse is personally seen multiple times a day by multiple people. Carol has always made me aware of any change with my horse and her knowledge of medical issues as well a weight management are unlike any other.

At High View we are part of a family and even though my daughter doesn't compete she is treated just as well and with just as much importance as the students that compete every weekend, which was a problem at other places. The thing I love most though is that the riders learn the importance of caring for the horses , not just riding them. From the ease of the booking process to the day-of execution, the entire process was 10 stars. Hannah and her team went above and beyond (which I now understand is their standard MO.) They effortlessly managed all of our decor, seemlessly and joyfully wrangled 12+ children (and twice as many extremely excited adults.) The experience was educational and extremely interactive (We decorated mini horses! We held/pet so many incredible animals! The kids rode unicorns!) Even the coloring pages had our daughter's name printed on them. There was not one aspect of the day that felt like an after thought. The attention to detail and the care they show is so amazing. I really can't thank Hannah and her crew enough for hosting (far and away) the best birthday party my daughter has ever had. Core memories were made by all of us.

Since I called ahead they put her with us because I am an advanced rider, and my friend has also been riding for quite sometime! They gave me a wonderful horse named murphy, because I let them know I could handle whatever... He was GREAT I wanted to take him home with me! My friend( who is about 5'2) rode a wild lil pony We rode western, and since we were all pretty experienced riders we walked, trotted, and cantered. So if you can ride, call ahead and let em know! Very relaxing and great trails through lincoln woods!

I recently re-located back to Massachusetts after spending a couple years in Virginia. Since I…read morefinally had a paying job after getting my Master's degree, I decided I wanted to take back up riding lessons, something I had done all through high school, but hadn't continued in college or grad school, except for exercising some of my friends horses in Virginia. Working in Needham, I decided to start looking in the surrounding towns, and stumble up Woodridge. I'm so glad I did! What a great facility. They have a large, well-maintained barn with beautiful horses. They have a large indoor ring (which can get a little crowded sometimes) (also it has a heated viewing area) and an ENORMOUS outdoor ring with at least 20+ jumps. There are riders of every level here - from adorable five-year-olds riding little ponies, to intermediate riders like myself, to majorly advanced riders that compete USEF. While many people at the barn compete and show, the atmosphere isn't very competitive - I have no interest in showing, but have never felt left out because of it. The fees associated with just taking lessons are slightly expensive - but for the quality of horses available, instructors, and care, it feels worth it. A half-hour private lesson will run you around $65. If you're in a rush and don't have time to groom and tack up your horse yourself, they have incredible grooms that will happily do it for you - and help you untack and cool down / groom the horse after your ride, while you are cleaning your tack. The outdoor paddocks are a little small, but the horses here are so pampered and well-bred that they probably don't even want to be outside. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for riders of any level.
