Magical light show in Lancaster, a town of WNY. We go every year! Sure does put you in the holiday mood. I should've taken some pictures, but I was driving my family so I let them do the picture taking. It's free. It's amazing. This year (2025 Xmas season) the 100% of the donations collected will go to a charity by the name of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Worthwhile cause for sure. They build beds for children in the city of Buffalo who are in need of beds. read more

What a great festive experience. I'm posting this too late for this year but do yourself a favor and bookmark this for next year. Do you like driving around during the Christmas season to check out all the holiday decirations? Well this is an amazing neighborhood where over 300 houses get together and decorate for this holiday event. They even supply a map of the best route to take to be able to see everything. It runs from Thanksgiving night until New Years Day. The event is free but there's spots along the route to make donations. Each year they give the donations to a different organization. Beautiful Christmas lights - almost all the houses in this neighborhood are decked to the max with beautiful Christmas lights. When you enter the neighborhood they even have a radio station you can tune your car to so you can listen to great Christmas music on your drive. You can also walk the neighborhood but parking seems a little harder to find. Grab some hot cocoa and head out for a great night of festive lights! read more

Great holiday event for everyone off all ages, if you have traditions,or some Christmas spirit, it's a great festive neighborhood to drive thru. Stony brook shines selects a local WNY charity to support each year. Support the community we live in and check it out. I guarantee nothing will get you in the holiday spirit more than a trip around this neighborhood to marvel at the gorgeous light displays. I even got greeted by Mr and Mrs Klaus and the grinch, complete with a candy cane treat! There can be a lot of traffic around the 9 streets that participate within the community , but it's well worth the wait to see all the houses all decked out for the holiday. I have paid a significant amount of money for light displays that have paled in comparison. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. read more

Stony Brook Shines for Others is a collective of homes in a Lancaster neighborhood that annually collaborates to decorate several streets for the holidays in conjunction with a non-profit fundraiser. This is a free event, but donations for a good cause are graciously accepted. The neighbors have been banding together for 12 years now, each year selecting a new cause to support. Lights stay on from Black Friday through January 1st. The Stoney Brook neighborhood truly does shine during this event! Almost every single house participates with some form of lights, with a few really going over the top! Not only are the houses sparkling, but the trees lining the streets are also lit up, as well as many streets have archways of lights over the sidewalks. If you start at the Stoney Brook entrance, you can weave your way through about a dozen streets of lights. Stony Brook really makes for a nice outing with the fam'. We grabbed some drive-thru hot beverages before heading over, cranked up the holiday jams when we got there, and just took it all in! It took us over a half-hour to meander through all the streets, and I'm not sure we even hit them all. It has become more popular over the years, so on busy nights, you may be in a line to get into then neighborhood. And cars may be moving in a long, slow line once you are in. But that's great! Take your time to enjoy all of the effort this neighborhood has put into their decorations for a very worthy cause. Check out the FB Page of this neighborhood extravaganza. Each year a WNY Charity is chosen to be the recipient of donations, which are not required. This year "Little Smiles of Western New York" will be recipients of the donations. The Christmas Light Displays are again spectacular. I'm not usually in town to see it, so I was thrilled to see it this year and included 2 photos. Saying it's "magical" doesn't begin to describe, especially if there is a light snow falling, as it was when I got there. Be patient if you drive through as you will hardly be alone. Or you can linger and walk it. If you drive or can get an AM radio station tune in to further enhance the experience. Over $300k has been collected and donated to the charities over the years and donations stay in WNY . Please don't miss this holiday scene. On the day of the check presentation, you can even see Santa and have complementary treats. read more
