The director, Donna, is bias and does not like certain people especially the girls. She wants to make sure she picks and chooses who has a right to recovery and who doesn't. She is judgmental and unkind. The staff there only cares about one thing- how to get your money. They do not care about your soul- or the dedication and growth you have shown. The relationships you've fostered and cared for. The perspectives you've changed. The work you've put in. Decision making is not professional, it is circumstantial based on one women's opinion- and this woman happens to be judgmental without empathy. Their mission is dishonest because of this person. This is not a place to go to if you are worried about making even the smallest of mistakes. They will hold it over your head and shame you to death until you can't forget how you wronged them. Mental abuse. Gaslighting. Don't let them treat you like a high school student on a behavioral program. You are an adult and you matter. They will let girls be high the entire time and give second chances if they decide oh she's pretty and nice- they like her. But if they decide they don't like you, they will hinder your sobriety and they will shame you . They will not help you. They give second chances and grace only to those they deem worthy.

My son, at the time who was receiving private occupational services, needed additional supports…read morewith self-regulation. I also needed parenting strategies to address behavior. Our Occupational Therapist recommended Inner Courage Counseling, which was coincidentally down the street. My son began seeing Amy Jeffers in the late summer/early fall of 2021. However, as much as I brought up the behavioral concerns that we were seeing at home (including aggression towards me, and some very serious threats of bodily harm), I received NO strategies. (She sent me a total of two reference sheets, including the "4 Functions of Behavior" and an Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence tracking chart.) I'm a special education teacher, with 16 years of experience and MA's under my belt, and what she sent me was something that we covered in undergrad Special Education 101. I begged Amy for strategies, because everything in my own toolbox simply wasn't working. I gave situational examples, explained how I approached the behaviors, and asked what I could do to address repeat incidences. Time after time, she neglected to give me any meaningful strategies. The tipping point was when she proclaimed that I didn't need strategies; that I simply "need(ed) to develop a relationship with (your) son." WELL, NO KIDDING. We're working on our relationship, obviously. But I need STRATEGIES to address the behavior aspect. She also suggested that I hire a babysitter and go out more sans kids, despite my explaining to her (1) I am on a budget, and that is not always feasible; (2) When I return home after having a babysitter, my children's behavior escalates. So, it's not worth the cost and aggravation unless it's for something necessary (i.e. a doctor's appointment). I ended up finally cancelling our appointments so that we could look for help elsewhere. Why would I continue to waste our precious time and money (that I had to carefully budget) with no result??? I verbally explained the above reasons that I was dissatisfied, and then sent a brief email to Amy discontinuing services. She wrote out a lengthy reply and explanation of her reasoning for not providing the requested strategies. It took some time, but we have FINALLY found a good counselor elsewhere who is perceptive, has identified the problem behaviors, has witnessed the problem behaviors herself, and continually talks through strategies with me, or provides resources to me. She also provides activity/worksheet extensions that my child and I can do at home.
