Each fenced in area has park benches and covered picnic tables to relax and watch your dogs play as well as water fountains that have a small bowl on the bottom to run water in for your dog. There's also agility training equipment in each area as well as trash receptacles that have plastic bag dispensers to clean up after your pup. The other part is, it is sparsely attended. If your objective is for your dog to play with other dogs, this is not the place. On the positive side, it is very large and it does have some very nice features like a small dog section that is quite sizable. I would say if you can stand the noise and just want a place for your dog to run, it's five stars.

Owners then receive a swipe card for access to the park. I take "Angus": our Australian Shepherd (a 21/2 year old rescue) here on a daily basis. He's a little hyper and still adjusting, so I use the park so he can get up in the morning and run himself silly chasing the pedestrian and bike traffic that runs parallel to the Dog Park. My wife usually takes him in the near dusk time to allow him to unwind for the evening and he's been socializing with the other dogs. While many owners let the dogs run "free" not everyone should; unless they know their dog's temperament around other animals and people. While this is a good learning experience for him; my wife and I sometimes have to corral him in the smaller dog area when he's wanting to herd other dogs and not be social. It's a great park and while they've an agility course in the large dog side of the park, it's missing a jump bar that was damaged sometime after the opening. The smaller dog area has a few agility items and we usually take Angus there to practice the smaller obsticle course.

In the meantime, JGP has the widest concrete paths I can remember in any park I've visited, like the concrete guys were hurting for business, and offered a double wide, two-for-one deal. I imagine it offers a smooth surface for skaters, though I haven't noticed any here on my rare visits. Most importantly for Onyx H. and her little buddy Ruby H., this place is dog-friendly. There's a fenced dog park on the northeast side, and at least one doggie-bag dispenser. That doggie-bag dispenser can be most important when the stock of plastic bags in your pocket is exceeded by your pet's desired number of pit stops. JGP is a perfect place for a short winter walk with your canine companions.

You need proof of rabies vaccination to get the dog tag and gate code from city hall. They also request a picture. There is a pool that you can drain out (the old water goes into the creek behind the park) and refill with clean water if you wish. It's shallow enough for most dogs to wade in. You'll often see dogs just laying in the water on warm days. My puppy just discovered the miracle that is water, and loves splashing around in the pool. Since I didn't think she would go in the water the first time at the park, I wasn't prepared and didn't bring a towel. Now I always keep one in my car! There are some strict rules for the park: no dog food/treats, no leashes, no digging, etc. All of which keeps this place well kept and pristine. There are always toys around so I stopped bringing my own.

We have been coming the 2016-2017 season…read more Things I love the most: because of the membership, I feel that most owners are more accountable for their dogs; owners are really friendly; always trying to improve the park; our dogs LOVE coming here. Things I would change: Park is closed from late March-June. My pups are sad when they don't have a place to run, especially when it's the nicest part of the year; I feel guilty that I'm not able to be a volunteer (I work on weekends) since they ask for a lot of help from members; people who have come since it opened can be a bit cliquey, however I have met a lot of new members like me. Overall a great dog park
