The Stop & Shop in Plainville is terrific. West Hartford has wonderful meats and fresh vegetables. Newington's Stop & Shop is the talk of the town. We have a Stop & Shop in Berlin too. I really like this stop & shop location! It was super easy to get to and just enough off of the turnpike so that it's not as busy. I like that there's a small park right next to the parking lot. Everything seemed pretty stocked which surprised me. I noticed stocking has been a common issue for most stop & stop's that I've been to. Everything was very organized. I think this location will be my new preferred grocery store. read more

I can't wait till this review, written during the time of COVID-19 quarantine, is antiquated. The checkout lines go all the way back to the back of the store where they normally never are, not even before Thanksgiving or Christmas. Wait lines with 6 foot spacing are neatly taped to the floor. A single cashier kindly waits at the start of the line and reminds passing shoppers to maintain social distancing, then sends you to one of the normal terminals. The store has at least given the cashiers a plexiglass wall, and plastic bags have (temporarily I am sure) returned to save cashiers from touching many new materials like reusable bags--or putting them back in the cart so we can bag our own. No toilet paper, sanitizer, or gloves seem to be on hand, but this seems to be the standard everywhere. That, and the store's actually open. There's a few products with quantity limits but I found nearly everything I hoped to, including fresh produce and cold beer. Some of the customers forgot the social distancing bit, but the staff were patient and thorough as can be. Unbelievable, you go there do your shopping and then expect you to bag your own stuff and they charge you for the bag what are these grocery stores coming to? The prices are too high and they do less work and they want more money to get paid worst experience ever. read more

One night worker (old gray-haired man) always turns off the pump, he is very nice in the conversation but is fake and behaves like an undeveloped child he's just an asshole !!! I recommend avoiding him, it is a pity to waste your own time. Unless you want to play a stupid game with him (pump-off/pump-on) greetings to all other staff, you are doing a good job Gas Station is still new it is in very good condition, generally I recommend. information to the old gray-haired man If I find you there next time, I'll take a picture of you and place it here, let people know that Gas Station works properly, only you spoil opinions the company that employs you. read more

Cluttered store with all the shelf restock happening during the day. And oversized shelves are used in these small aisles. It's already packed full of customers bc it is a small SS. And they are also pricey ! Yes Waterbury & Danbury have the same prices vs. NEw Britain. I'm assuming this is a form of price gouging bc of the town it's located & its neighbors/customers !! Wow! Unbelievable experience! (Visiting from Florida.) In the self check out line with my husband and began to scan while my husband bagged the items. The woman overlooking the self check out informed us that we "were not allowed to bag the items until everything was scanned." When I questioned her about this she said that she "did not make the rules" and that my husband was "not even allowed to touch the bags!" At some point one of my items did not scan and the register requested help. Over she came, only to scold us for not knowing which item wasn't scanned. Perhaps this is due to the fact that our items were piled up instead of going into bags. She was quite irritated at our inability to help her. It was at this point I noticed the customers behind us were bagging items as they scanned. When I questioned her about this she informed me that "they were allowed to bag because they come here all the time." My response was "you did not just say that to me!" She had no clue what I was talking about. She was completely ignorant and thanked us for being patient and again said that "she didn't know us and didn't make the rules." I wish I had left my cart and groceries unpaid for. I was ready to ask for the manager, but had family waiting for me. This is family that has just moved to the area. What a sad first impression. I'll be back to Conneticut on a regular basis visiting, but will never set foot in that store again. Stop and Shop manager, you may need to educate this employee on her lack of communication skills. read more

Nice store amazing!!! Started going here since I was 6 years old never stopped!!! Here I am now on Burlington Connecticut we moved and I haven't been here since 1 year!!! This stop and shop was really good for me since it was near our old house and near east Tokyo even my second grade teachers were discussing about school in east Tokyo and I was like wow!!!! Large supermarket with ample parking - this location is convenient to Rt. 9

As much as I try to avoid shopping at this store sometimes it can't be helped. Today was a perfect example of how horrible this store is. I had to grab a few items for dinner. 1st stop was shredded lettuce. I had to move 4 bags of brown shredded lettuce to find a bag that was edible. They had two people working the checkout. One at a normal checkout station and one at the self check out. They recently reduced the number of self check outs and the remaining 4 have absolutely zero counter area. It took me a half hour in line before I could check out. I was there for four items. It took me all of 5 minutes to find the items and 30 minutes to pay for them. An absolute waste of time. read more

By far one of the worst stop n shops I've been to. They don't carry nearly half the amount of products most other ones do. I don't know of they are always under staffed or they just don't like alot of pple working because no matter what time of day you go in there. The lines to cash out always take forever read more

I lived on the east side of Meriden for many years and always loved the Stop & Shop on Broad St and East Main. I have recently relocated to Berlin and thought the Stop & Shop would be even better in Berlin. WRONG!! Rude employees who all seem to hate their job - strange lighting - the place is disorganized and looks like it's in shambles. I will take the extra time and go up to Stew Leonard's. Came in for 3 things and an hour later left with nothing! Started my trip with the self scan device to speed up my trip. Found what I needed and went to check out. All but one self-checkout was closed, and all lines were long. I chose the shortest line and began to wait... and wait... and wait... The cashier moved at a snail's pace. Then the register had an issue on the order before mine, so the cashier was moving to the next isle over. So I went there... She tried to start my order to find there was an issue with that register and the manager needed to audit her drawer or something... At this point I had waited well over half an hour, so I left my items on the belt and left. Went to CVS, paid more and was happy to do it because there was a cashier with no line waiting to process my order and let me be on my way! read more

Run of the mill type Stop and Shop, but that doesn't mean its bad. Straight forward selection, produce looked fine if not spectacular. I did come during the day on a weekday so perhaps the lines become unruly during prime time, but I was able to fill up on gas, take care of shopping without any issues or surprises...that's it and that's all. read more

This is a regular stop and shop, not a super! Very rare! It has it's own gas station and it is very clean inside with all the amenities of a super - pharmacy, flower shop, peoples bank etc. Very good selection of organic, healthy foods. read more

I come to stop and shop just to get a plain red velvet muffin and then i cant cause there is icing on it. I shop here once a week to get staples - basically everything I can't get or substitute at Stew Leonard's. I enjoy this location because the other customers are friendlier and tend to be families, unlike the location near my home in Cromwell where everyone is rude, rude, rude. Anyway, skip the vegetable/fruit department because it's terrible. Flip over some of the grape/cherry tomato plastic packages and you will always find shriveled up, rotting, and/or brown tomatos inside. There are always guys in the department re-stocking, so that says to me no one cares. The full-size tomatos are also often past their peak and should not be on display, and likewise with other items in the non-refrigerated area. Because of the poor conditions and lack of attention to their floor stock, I buy as much as possible at Stew's and I would recommend you do the same. Aside from this department, I enjoy the store and find their prices comparable with other stores in the area. The gas station is among the cheapest, and the parking lot is easy to navigate and get in and get out. read more

I just left this store. I am flabbergasted by how I was treated along with other customers. At checkout the young girl had no customer service skills at all. I understand she was young but she refused to bag anything for anyone. This is unacceptable. It is not fair to the older customers. I am young but this frosted my butt. Please treat customers like you want to be treated and at least OFFER to help bag for them. I am so upset by this. I just worked a 10 hour day for a cashier to do nothing but scan then look at me and watch me bag all my groceries. i was shopping at stop and shop last week and when i got to the register the cashier was slower than slow. if she was any slower, she would be going backwards. you are lucky if there are 2 or 3 cashiers working at a time. i usually go elsewhere but i went cause of the virus. i never get out of there without a friggin problem. well, that day i needed cigarettes for my husband and the cashier asked me if i would get them so she could start adding my food up so i said ok. big-huge mistake. as i turned around i tripped and fell over those little black tables at the end of the line and i went flying. so the manager came over and asked me my name and phone number and how i fell and if i was hurt and i told her then she said someone would be calling me about the accident. i am still waiting and hurting at the same time. one cashier said while laughing, 'well at least u didnt break ur hip. go home and ice urself. how about that??? read more
