This is my 3rd attempt to give this place a chance. Again, the place is a mess and the food is spoiled or rotten. Went in there for a few items. Immediately upon entering, looks like someone knocked over some plants, and broken pieces of the pots and dirt all over the floor. Then unto the fruits and veggies. Surprised that stupid robot doesn't see this stuff. Wow. Disgusting. Bugs and rotted items. unto the meat dept. Rotted meat. Lovely. I am so done with this store. The worst stop and shop I have ever ordered from. Good luck to any Instacart or mobile orders. I work at a corporate office and don't have time to be in-store shopping. I ordered on Instacart pick-up and they have been rescheduling my grocery orders for the past three days. I literally have Instacart-Plus so I pay for this service. Fed up and hungry, after my shift I grabbed what I needed. Low and behold I saw other customers in the parking lot getting their orders delivered to them. I genuinely do not understand. read more

Yet again I gave this stop and shop ANOTHER chance. Last time I was here it was a terrible experience, Witnessed and employee using the restroom and not washing his hands. That's disgusting. This time I stopped in JUST because I needed a single pack of chicken. I shouldn't have to drive 30 mins to either big Y or all the way to Middletown for a single pack of meat (or so I thought). I will tell you. This stores price on chicken is 2x the price of their competitors. I paid nearly 12 dollars for a pack of chicken breast. Which wasn't even good quality. I could have gone to big Y and got a bigger pack of chicken for a cheaper price. It's sad that it's come to this. But I will not be returning to this particular stop and shop again. I would rather go 15 mins in the opposite direction of my house and pick up my families dinner. Every time I come in here it's extremely bare on the shelfs and the things that they do have in stock are so expensive. It shouldn't cost $100 dollars to feed a family of 3 for one night. I'm done with this store I'm boycotting it. I suggest all of you do as well, if you care about quality and value when trying to feed your family. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT CAREFULLY !! You may not be getting the bargains that brought you to the store in the first place. This is not the first time that I've been to this store and the sale prices didn't ring up correctly. It's not just one item on my receipt either. I questioned the cashier who said that the personal savings were showing. But not all of them. She was unable to correct the mistakes and I was told that I would have to return to the store tomorrow to speak with someone who could help me. It seems all too often that the items advertised in the sale flyer and the digital coupons do not ring correctly. I truly want to believe that this is a mistake but it happens quite often and it is a waste of my time to have to go back to the store and try to get things corrected. How many people don't check their receipts? And how many people are not willing to drive back to get the refund when they find an error? This is not very good customer service and undermines customer confidence. There is a brand new Big Y less than 5 miles away in Marlborough. I spend a great deal of money shopping for groceries, etc. I need to shop at a store that I can trust. read more

Prices are high. Quality is not good. This is not that important but it's about the tubs of cookies that SnS makes. My husband bought a tub of oatmeal n raisin cookies and the thickness was a little more than a potato chip. The price was 4.79. He has bought them before and the thickness was usual as a cookie should be. Come on now it's a cookie!! read more

A newer Stop & Shop that's hit and miss. This store took over for Shaw's just a few years ago. It's recently renovated and has a different layout than many other Stop & Shop locations. Overall, it's bright and roomy with plenty of open space. The product selection is mixed. Although there is an expanded natural and organic section for example, the availability of products throughout the store is sub-par. They often run out of items, especially when there is a big sale. What disappoints me the most about this location is that it does NOT include a People's United Bank branch. Yes, they supply an ATM, but that's it. No banking for me here. I still shop here since I'm currently living just down the street, but it's not my favorite Stop & Shop location. read more

A nice addition to the area. S&S took over another store so understandably the isle layout is different than most stores, making my shopping list app in the wrong order. Convenient on Rt 66, clean and friendly. For the bird lovers, they do have suet. read more

This is a big store with a pretty nice produce and deli section. The bottle return is kind of in an inconvenient spot (once you're in, if someone else comes it it could be hard to get out). Big parking lot and always lots of carriages available. We usually go over to Colchester but this store is newer. read more

I spent about $36 today on what was basically 2 short ribs cut into 6-7 pieces. They were cryovaced and reeked of sulphur when I opened the package. A preservative I assume as we had the same experience at Easter with lamb loin chops. My kitchen smelled like we took the camper in to drain the tanks. I don't know who at Stop and Shop got paid to make the decision to buy out their butchers so they could prepackage meat out of state and ship it in, but they should be fired. I suspect however that they are on Hols in Greece instead... the meats mostly have a gray pallor and the smell of "off" meat wafts down the length of the counter. Disgusting. While a drive for us, we are thankful that BigY and IGA markets still have butchers and fresh meat selections. And just because they are not paying a butcher does not mean you are saving any money. Prices are through the roof with the exception of the shorted-dated meats they are trying to get out the door. Actually, much of what was on display today was dated the16th and not marked down, today is the 18th. We don't mind paying for quality, but you're sure not going to find it here. read more

I shop here only because it's so inconvenient to go anywhere else, since there really is nowhere else in town. This is a Stop and Shop like any other, nothing special, just a grocery store. The reason for my low rating is that this store has pretty much the highest prices of any Stop and Shop I've been to. Of course they are able to get away with this due to the lack of competition. Hopefully at some point we will get another supermarket nearby. read more

Great store, even with the make over in process, every individual from manager down to all the floor employee's make a huge effort to keep the Food Bank shelves full of quality food items ! I am able to pick -up a truck load of donated items on a daily basis !!! These items help feed 20-25 needy families in East Hampton , Ct. ,every Mon & Thurs. They are the GREATEST !! I just left stop&shop in east Hampton, ct..at 8:40pm on a Saturday I couldn't buy ANY MEAT! Not packaged, nothing! Then the deli lady copped a HUGE attitude with me for wanting a pound of ham when she had already started cleaning her slicers..she actually sneered at me when she asked me if I wanted anything else! Then they had ONE checkout lady at the registers, who moved like MOLASSES!! Then when I got home and tried to call the store to find out what all that was about, NO ONE answered! And I called three times! THIS is "Customer Service"?? This is how they plan on keeping customers when Big Y opens up in 4 days?? I'm livid! What a waste of time!! read more

Beware grocery Stop and Shop shoppers. New scam run by the store. Bought beer. Kid asked for ID I am decades past that. He said store policy. I handed him driver's license and before I realized it and could stop him he punched my driver's license number into the computer. I objected a manager came over said store policy I said you don't need my license number to see my year of birth 1950s, she said Stop and Shop doesn't sell info I objected because they will use it, when they get hacked lots of other people will have it, they didn't need it for me to buy beer and they didn't ask permission and I didn't give it. Asked them to remove it she said they couldn't so do not hand your license over leave the beer and let them spend money restocking shelves. read more

Do not shop here if you have any deli purchase. Min wait time is at least 10 min .... but typical wait time is 20-30 min. Despite long deli lines and several workers, usually only 1 person is servicing orders. I am doing all of my shopping at Teds in Hebron until Stop and Shop learns the meaning of customer service. The 10 min drive to Hebron is worth it to avoid the deli wait and the overall customer service is much better. read more

Outrageously priced food because they really have no competition. They have a nerve to call things on sale that are still a lot higher priced than at stores in neighboring towns. And - they have the nerve to have a sign on the front of the store that says "low prices." Who are they kidding? It would be nice if another store came to the area. They are outrageous. read more

ALWAYS check the dates on the food you buy here, every single item. I can't tell you how many times I've purchased groceries that are past the expiration date. Sad too because groceries cost so much. Also, the kids behind the deli counter are always talking about drugs, and some of the front area cashiers constantly complain about how much they hate this store. I understand people don't like their boss, but its inconsiderate when the front cashiers have these work bashing side conversations in front of me like I'm not even there. read more

Hope and pray that this Stop & Shop location doesn't put what you want to buy on sale, if so, forget about trying to buy it because they will be out of stock! Consistently they are completely sold out of products that are on sale, so much so that you start wishing that they don't put what you typically buy on sale because then you'll have to go to another store to get what you need. Also, a lot of the items on the shelves are expired and the packaging is dented or damaged. The only bright spot in this store was the employee Sean who worked on Sundays and would check to see if there was more of a particular product in the back before the service desk would issue a raincheck for the sold out product, which we routinely needed to do every single week while grocery shopping because they were always sold out of something on the list. In the span of two different trips on two days, this Stop & Shop was out of both items that I needed because they both happened to be on sale. It's the holiday time, so you'd think they'd realize a lot of people would be using white chocolate chips while baking and not put them on sale. They were out of both the Nestle Toll House and Ghirardelli white chocolate chips! Gee thanks Stop & Shop for putting both brands of white chocolate chips on sale. I don't understand how a store can be so mismanaged that you can walk down the aisles and see the bare spots and know that the product that was supposed to be there was on sale that week! read more

all 5 stars because of the staff that work there!! especially some of the young ones nice ,funny, helpful, etc. yes there are a couple who aren't the most happy but not many, the product selection is fine, plenty of different brands and prices, no they are not perfect but who is? I read a couple of reviews that prompted me to write this in defense of the store, complaining because something is on sale saying they wish they wouldn't do that?? sometimes they put out all they receive and then run out it happens like you said its the holidays, also I have walked up to the deli and received what I want in 5 mins many times, maybe you should use there preorder system? Great stop and shop with amazing staff. Usually I try to shop at rite aid first cause I save myself a boatload of money... (Stop and shop is a tad overpriced) but regardless I love this stop and shop! Very big... I'll sometimes go in and grab freshly cut lunch meats for the family and I overall recommend this supermarket. read more
