From frozen food to foil - this Price Rite location is where I do a majority of my weekly shopping. Although Price Rite is what I would consider a "discount" supermarket, the store carries a pretty extensive selection of foods and household items. Both name brands and the "Price Rite" brands share the same shelf space throughout the store. Additionally this location has a pretty decent Latin food section, although the Wethersfield and Hartford locations do have a larger section of their stores dedicated to these foods. In a time of ever rising food prices - this store has been a great way to keep my monthly food costs from getting out of control and allow me to save my money for other endeavors (and bills!) I will end this review words of warning though - 1. They do not provide you with shopping bags (a way they keep their costs down), so bring your own reusable bag or be prepared to pay $0.10 per plastic bag 2. Try to avoid this store during the first half of the month if you want to find food on the shelves - it gets very, very crowded. read more

This grocery store is a budget friendly grocery place. Their produce tends to be fairly fresh, as well as the meats. Sometimes you may come across things that are "toss aways" meaning they were not worthy enough to be put on the likes of a Stop and Shop or ShopRite shelf so they end up here at PriceRite. Things are very easy to find within the store and for all intents and purposes the store is clean... with the exception of the bathroom. Woah! How filthy! Kind of scary considering employee are handling food products after having used it and considering their is a sigh inside the bathroom referencing the cleanliness of the bathroom. read more

I am a brand snob, so I don't go to Price Rite very often. They do have some name brand stuff, but not enough for me to do my normal grocery shopping here. What I do like Price Rite for is produce. It is always significantly cheaper than Price Chopper or Stop and Shop, and generally fresher than those stores too. When I'm on one of my juicing kicks, or if I just want a lot of fresh fruit, it's always a better bargain at Price Rite. I will also buy chicken breasts or pork tenderloins there as they are often much cheaper than the regular stores. Occasionally I will look around and find some of the items that I use regularly (such as cereal, salad dressing or Barilla pasta), sometimes they are cheaper than the regular stores, but sometimes the regular stores can beat Price Rite's prices with their sales. I do come here several times a year to get non-perishable foods to donate to our local food pantry. Canned vegetables, pasta, sauce and tuna fish are very inexpensive. I can get more bang for my buck, and the food pantry therefore gets more items to be able to distribute to those in need. For $20 you can get a full cart and really make a difference. read more

I had a very concerning experience with an employee at the seafood counter. I watched him interact with a man ahead of me & he was very nice, respectful & had a pleasant interaction with the customer. My experience was contrary to how the previous customer was treated. When I said "Hello" the employee ignored me, I asked "May I have 2 lbs. of salmon fillet please?" again he did not respond or look at me. He began processing my order & while weighing the salmon I noted it was $8.99 instead of the sale price of $6.99 lb. & I said "Will the discount come off at the register?" again he completely ignored me. Once he packaged my order, he turned around to hand it to me, again I asked the same question & he responded "I can't understand you in that thing" in a very hostile tone, in reference to my mask. I repeated the question & he finally responded "Yes". I was upset with this encounter & sent a complaint to ShopRite, 4 days later Customer Care sent an email claiming concern with my experience, that it didn't live up to their excellent customer service & that management would follow up. The store manager called 5 days later & left a brief message asking for more info, so I sent him an email detailing my experience. I also called to speak to him four different days, each time he had left for the day. I also spoke to the Asst. Manager & the Grocery Manager explaining that my mother is 88 years old, has coronary issues & recently had two surgeries to remove cancerous tumors & is extremely high risk, the reason for me masking & that I am up all hours caring for her. I explained that email was the best way to reach me & asked them to leave messages for the store manager & each told me that they would. The store manager has not responded, I have not even received an apology. We have been loyal customers for several years & spend $500-$600 per month in the store, but we certainly didn't receive "excellent customer service". We will go across the street to Stop & Shop instead. read more

Price Rite is a discount grocery chain. But I was surprised by the extent of what they carry as well as the number of name brands I saw. You do need to bring your own bags and/or purchase some similar to Aldi. I was, however, frustrated with the checkout process. I went though the express line and the people at the checkout had two items that didn't come up. They asked for a price check and we waited. And waited. And the cashier walked away to ask the front end supervisor again. Then after about 5 minutes they paged the person who could actually do the price check over the intercom. And then the woman who does the price check came up and went to go actually find the price. And then somehow after about 10 minutes she entered it. Thankfully the people waiting on the pice check decided to let the rest of us go. I was finally out of there but the people waiting for the price check were still waiting. I was only picking up two items "quickly" so it was more annoying than it might usually be, but I think I'd go back again to give it another chance. read more

The cleanest price rite store and the best of the best are definitely their employees! The produce dept is amazing and the produce manager Bill goes out of his way to help costumers! As I'm sitting here and reading the reviews I'm in shock of the things people complain about. It's absurd! And false! It's just mentality that some have I guess. The pictures people posted? Come on it's either the truck is Kate it a holiday weekend. Never ever are the shelves like that! Wow ! Again, the whole store is spotless and great prices. The customer service is amazing! This grocery store has a huge selection of produce for the lowest cost, as well as meat, dairy, and everything under the sun. The brands aren't always the same, sometimes they will stop carrying something but there's always some kind of wonderful going on in the snack section. When it comes to everything, ultimately, the prices here are lit. They even sell seafood in the frozen section, which means even people on a right budget can get in all their omega 3s, or have shrimp cocktail regularly. Whatever you're into. They sell talenti ice cream for less than $5, it usually runs around $6 for a tub of that at regular grocery stores and they have all the flavors. Bring your own bags or you can buy them, you bag your own groceries just like Aldi. I know price rite isn't fancy or hip, but for people out there who like saving money and buying twice the amount of food, this is your place. read more

Price Rite does not have the selection of its parent store, Shoprite. The items it does have are discounted. It has an excellent produce selection. I go there for certain items - Lactose free milk, $ 3 a half gallon, Chobani yogurt, $ 3.89 for a four pack, and the store brand multigrain O shaped cereal, which I like better than a similar cereal from a big brand company. read more

Been having to return bad pork, and chicken in the last few weeks. They don't give a damn. No people skills whatsoever, or manners. At least say "sorry for the inconvenience sir". Manager Bill said, "it comes in with good dates". Its a shame when a store that you are spending money in every week doesn't give a shit. They don't even say sorry for your trouble. This place has gone downhill ever since one of the managers left, forget her name, but I know she was there from the beginning. I'm so pissed I can't even type properly. I can't wait until Shop-Rite rolls in, and puts them out of business. Prices aren't everything, they have to have CS also, and no wonder they don't put a phone number on the receipt. read more

I like the produce section the best. But quite frankly I don't understand the rest of the store since the new lay out. It is confusing and makes no sense. I find myself getting pissed off as I walk through the store looking for an item that I used to know were it was! One of the reasons I shopped there was for the price rite value brands. A while back they carried woven wheat price rite brand crackers and it was a great value over the name brand. they discontinued it. Now recently looks like they discontinued carrying the price rite brand chips, pretzels, ect. WHY!! or maybe I cant find them since the change. We shop there because we like the price rite brand. Next you will probably stop selling your brand of bread, which is also decent. Name brand competitors must be paying to keep the store brand out . I would not be surprised if your sales have dropped since you changed the store around. Go back to the lay out you had before, it made more sense. Thank you read more

I love the Price Rite in Cromwell. Great produce, great spices, some organic items, all at awesome prices. You can find all goya products, great Italian specialties like mascarpone, sundried tomatoes, durum pasta, Pellegrino and so much more. Go on off hours if possible. I go every week, service is superior to many higher end supermarkets. Bring your own bags and save 50% or more in your grocery bill. My favorite shopping places is Whole Foods, Big Y and Price Rite. read more

The pita bread is often moldy or will become moldy in one day. I've told the manager about this twice and they have FAILED to rectify this simple issue. Other than that, the store is pretty cheap and the workers are nice. read more
