I was moving out of state on relatively short notice, and Three Star was the only moving company…read morewilling to give me a free estimate (something the company footing the relocation bill required) and willing to go over the Rockies in December, so I didn't have much of a choice. It turned out to be about as bad as I could have imagined. The estimator who came out kept saying that he didn't usually do estimates, and he ended up severely underestimating the cost to move, to the tune of almost $2000. Considering that I lived in a 400 square foot studio, his incompetence is pretty impressive. The movers who came to move my stuff broke multiple pieces of furniture, then told my mom (who was supervising for me because I had already moved to Colorado) that my furniture was junk anyway. Nice. They ended up throwing broken pieces of furniture in the yard, leaving it there for my mom to later find. The inept estimator gave me a date for when my stuff would arrive. I took the day off work. No one showed up. I called Three Star, where they lied and said that they had never given me a date and accused me of making things up. They called back to tell me that the new date was two weeks from now. It took them a month to move my things 1600 miles. I asked how to pay the driver when he showed. Three Star told me that my company could write a check. Imagine my surprise when the driver showed up and said that he could not accept a check and that anyone who told me that was an idiot. So the. I had to do a lot of finagling with Wheaton (who actually had my stuff) so they would accept the check. Every piece of furniture I had was damaged. Every single piece. I had a recliner where the handle to recline had been completely snapped off. Three Star told me that it must have been broken before I contacted them and that I was trying to pull "a fast one." Oh, except remember all of the furniture that the movers had broken and left out in the front yard? The handle was there. These movers are a joke and I have no idea how they stay in business.
