I was moving out of state on relatively short notice, and Three Star was the only moving company willing to give me a free estimate (something the company footing the relocation bill required) and willing to go over the Rockies in December, so I didn't have much of a choice. It turned out to be about as bad as I could have imagined. The estimator who came out kept saying that he didn't usually do estimates, and he ended up severely underestimating the cost to move, to the tune of almost $2000. Considering that I lived in a 400 square foot studio, his incompetence is pretty impressive. The movers who came to move my stuff broke multiple pieces of furniture, then told my mom (who was supervising for me because I had already moved to Colorado) that my furniture was junk anyway. Nice. They ended up throwing broken pieces of furniture in the yard, leaving it there for my mom to later find. The inept estimator gave me a date for when my stuff would arrive. I took the day off work. No one showed up. I called Three Star, where they lied and said that they had never given me a date and accused me of making things up. They called back to tell me that the new date was two weeks from now. It took them a month to move my things 1600 miles. I asked how to pay the driver when he showed. Three Star told me that my company could write a check. Imagine my surprise when the driver showed up and said that he could not accept a check and that anyone who told me that was an idiot. So the. I had to do a lot of finagling with Wheaton (who actually had my stuff) so they would accept the check. Every piece of furniture I had was damaged. Every single piece. I had a recliner where the handle to recline had been completely snapped off. Three Star told me that it must have been broken before I contacted them and that I was trying to pull "a fast one." Oh, except remember all of the furniture that the movers had broken and left out in the front yard? The handle was there. These movers are a joke and I have no idea how they stay in business. read more

We were moving across state &. Three Star Moving & Storage Co. got our whole household there safely. They arrived on time to load & as expected to unload. They worked quickly, efficiently, and with courtesy. There was not a scratch or mar on anything. We definitely made the right choice in moving companies!!! read more

My experience with Three Star Moving was HORRIBLE. They were nice and friendly when they came out to do the estimate, but things went downhill quickly. The guy doing the estimate underestimated the weight of my belongings by over a thousand pounds (considering that I was living in 400 square feet at the time, I find this inexcusable). Due to the gross underestimate, I ended up paying over a thousand dollars more than the estimate I was given. Worse, my new company was footing the bill, and they were NOT pleased with the discrepancy. I was told that my things would be delivered on a certain day. I arranged to have the day off from my new job so I could be there. I attempted to call the moving company a few times before that date, but no one ever answered the phone or responded to my message. I finally got a call the day that my items were supposed to be delivered to tell me that the items would NOT be delivered on the date that I was told, that I had never been told that the items would be delivered on this date (even though it was written on the top of my copy of the estimate). Instead, they would be delivered the next week, and I could not arrange to have this day off from work, so the driver had to waste a day sitting around my town until I got home at 5:30pm. I asked them what the appropriate way to pay the guy bringing my stuff was, and Three Star told me that a check would be fine. The driver said that was NOT fine and had to call corporate headquarters (Wheaton) for a waiver. What a headache. I moved 1600 miles away, and it took nearly a month for me to get my furniture. And when I finally DID get my furniture, I was not pleased. EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE WAS DAMAGED. Every single one. A brand new chair had a black tarry stain on it that I still have not been able to get out completely. A recliner's handle was somehow broken off by the movers, even though it had a steel rod in the middle, and they threw it out into the front lawn of my old apartment (a neighbor found it and was kind enough to send it to me). My couch had a large rip on the arm, which this place argued was there before (it was not, and there was NO mention of it on the manifest). My table was scratched, as were the two matching chairs. And all of my bookcases were dinged and scratched. I would not recommend these movers to anyone, unless you like being overcharged and having damaged furniture. read more

I am very pleased with Three Star Moving & Storage. The men, Mark, Alan & Bobby were very efficient, very kind and took great care of our belongings. They spent the day moving most of our house to prepare for a remodel. I will definitely call them to come back when our home is completed! read more

Just awful. Prices were not right. Then the lady quoted me a price and said the move would take 10 hours. With us doing the packing that seemed absurdly high to me. When we talked about it she agreed. Said that with us doing the packing it would likely only take 7 or 8 hours. I said that still seemed high. She had her "head packer" come out and do a walk through. Without saying anything he quoted 5 to 6 hours, same as I had been telling her all this time. I've moved myself a time or two and knew what it takes. She refused to adjust the quote and wanted the higher hours "just incase". So then if it did go that long, I agreed to pay that. No! No! And no! Said I'm not going to do that. We couldn't agree. I almost went with her because my options were limited and I wasn't in a place to be able to move it all by myself. And then I passed a "two men and a truck" van. Called them up, got more accurate hours, price was slightly lower, people seemed wassay more professional. Haven't looked back since. I advise staying far, far away from these people's moving services. read more
