I waited almost 3 months to comment as I was certain the Stove Prairie team would eventually follow-up in a reasonable manner. Unfortunately that has not been the case. I'm happy to revise my comments if things change but at this point it's been extremely disappointing (actually stunning, considering the details involved).
We paid in full for our daughter's wedding scheduled for early September. The day prior to the wedding, we had a full team of people (about 20 of us) up at the venue to do all the set-up. On the day of the wedding, the fires in the area resulted in us having to do an emergency evacuation from Stove Pairie several hours before the wedding ceremony. Thankfully, a family in town very graciously allowed us to use their home that afternoon.
Prior to signing the contract with Stove Prairie, we shared our concerns about the possibility of a fire in the area causing issues with the event. Lori assured me that if Stove Prairie was unable to host the event for any reason, especially in the case of a fire, we would receive a full refund. It's now been almost 3 months since the wedding date and no refund. They've offered a 50% refund, which is ridiculous.
I'm still hoping this gets worked out. Lori seemed very nice the times we met with her. And the setting is beautiful - our kids were extremely disappointed the event was not able to take place there as planned. But the fact is, the event was NOT able to take place at Stove Prairie. And they're offering a 50% refund? Nonsensical. Although, as I read the other review here, maybe there's a pattern?
They say you discover what a person is really like when the pressure and stress increases. 2020 has been an extremely stressful year for everyone. I'm sure it's been a difficult time for Stove Prairie's team as well. But to offer a 50% refund for an event that was unable to take place seems... well... somewhat of a warning sign for those considering this location in the future. read more
