He never went thru any of them with me. When I was asked how many there were, I'd say between 125-150 albums. Years 1950-1985. So after being told how honest they were, I did accept the low offer. I was then shown by this person the value of some of my albums. I was totally lied to!!! Don't believe them. He also laughed when I said if there were any treasures in the collection it'd be nice to get something. He laughed. Sorry I sold them. Beware!!!!

They also…read morehave a tendency to claim an album is a more rare edition than it actually is so they can upcharge. Be sure to check everything on Discogs before buying. They will lower the price if you call them out on their shenanigans, though, so be diligent. Their recent arrivals section is usually pretty good, but the normal, already alphabetized stuff are pretty common records but marked up due to location. Honestly, I only ever look through the recent arrival stuff when I stop in nowadays. But again, check the editions before buying because they will absolutely claim it's a rarer edition when it's certainly not.

I brought two books to the counter today and took a moment to look in my bag for my book discount bookmark for him to stamp. I carefully put my laptop, wallet, glasses, and clean paper wrapper containing the cafe's fresh veggie sandwich half, all on the broad counter for a moment, in the manner of Lucille Ball. I'm old enough that she was my mentor in a special graduate class on clowning, eons ago. But the bookstore clerk zeroed in on the sandwich. "Get your greasy sandwich off the counter. This is a bookstore." Who talks like this? Yes, the wrapped sandwich was anomalous there, matter out of place but for a moment. He had no right to sound this way, but I apologized. The purchase came to under twenty. He was so excitedly thrilled by this. "You can't have a book stamp because you didn't spend twenty today!" He bounced as he said it. New to the discount program because who cares, I quietly accepted this news. "See?" He went on, "Look. It says so right there, right on the bookmark!" I gave no reply to him. "But, of course, everyone just hates to read!" There was no humor going on. He was claiming the right to scold an old person for being nothing but that, in his eyes. I'm older and small in size. What a bully! I looked him in the face and said, "What is wrong with you?" Off balance, he said, "Nothing. This is just what's called having a sense of humor." He turned and sped off. There was no 'thank you' to complete the transaction. To me, a comic to the core, incivility is not humor at all. It's disrespect. It's a man Indulging in meanness towards an older woman because he can get away with it here and there. "Get your greasy sandwich off the counter," was so inappropriate to say, to anyone, the cruelness of it must have felt like free-flight. It was so absurdly rude he brought to mind Monty Python. I spend up to $400 a month on books. I find everyone else here at Toadstool polite, but similarly distracted and disinterested in the customers, except for the owner. But no one else is disrespectful except for this guy.

Good selection of modern rock, punk, alt, and 60's rock. GREAT selection of audiophile pressings. Some wild Japanese vinyl from The Who that I'M DYING to own. They know what they have, and it's priced accordingly, but stuff that doesn't move seems to get discounted (despite what Discogs says it's worth) Clean, organized, friendly staff, no pressure. It's slowly becoming my favorite record shop.

The first time I stopped by, it was closed, but I called anyway. Eleni answered, and she couldn't have been kinder. She's hard of hearing, but she was incredibly warm, enthusiastic, and genuinely excited to open up and help me find the kinds of records I was looking for. I'm really glad I went back. The selection was great, and what stood out even more was the atmosphere. A couple of other people were there chatting, helping her out, and digging through records of their own. It felt like a true neighborhood record store where people gather because they love music. That's getting harder to find these days. If you're in the area and enjoy vinyl, it's absolutely worth a visit. Just remember to bring cash, because it's cash only. Small businesses like this deserve the support.

I had a pretty horrible experience here, and unfortunately, this isn't the first time this has…read morehappened. I came in to trade in a few games and purchase a controller. Up to this point, all is good. I'm standing at the checkout desk and I'm prompted with the usual "Would you like to join our rewards program?" I never join rewards programs- they benefit the company more than you. I politely told him no, that I'm asked that whenever I come in and I don't join because I don't want to. At this point some customers walk into the store, and get in line behind me. Tom, the clerk who was selling me the controller, asked me again if I wanted to join the rewards program. By this point my back is going up because I already said "no". He told me that the program has changed a lot since I was last a member- I told him that I knew the sales pitch and my answer wasn't changing. He asked AGAIN, for the third time, and I was in a bad mood by this point. He stares at me, and then he looks at the customers as though he's prompting them to say something, and then he asks me for a FOURTH TIME and by this point I said "This is why I don't come here. I don't appreciate what you're doing". The customers behind me start to laugh uncomfortably and Tom the Clerk says "Wow". He rings up my sale, and I thank him. He says nothing back to me. I'm never going back to this location. Here is why rewards programs benefit the company more than you. If you join you are 7 times more likely to come back to the store within a year, to use your membership. You are three times more likely to back more than three times within a given year. All to buy stuff you're going to return for store credit. This is why every game I buy is digital. I don't appreciate the tactics used to pressure customers into buying a membership- especially one that I am never going to use. I've bought controllers from Gamestop in the past, and what few physical copies of games I do have are slowly being turned in for controller money. I don't like being rude or stern. Not ever. But when I am backed into a corner and there is no way out, I'm sorry. But I'm going to tell you that I don't appreciate what is happening. Amazon doesn't do this and they are extremely successful. Gamestop does and this location is a ghost town, all the time. I wonder why.
