We had just walked in, my sister and I wanted to look at the rings sitting on the counter. The man behind the counter, who I assume was the owner with reddish complexion and spiky hair, abruptly admonished us asking if we had asked permission to look at the rings. At first, I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't. He was standing right there. I thought that because a store employee is standing right there, they wouldn't have a problem with me pulling out one ring from the ring holder among many other rings sitting on the counter under his nose. One of my brothers noticed a cell phone sitting on one of shelves with no one around it. My brother, being the kind man he is and has always been, handed it to red-faced spiky hair dude saying that he had found it. This red-faced spiky hair dude didn't say thank you to my wonderful brother. He said ok, took the phone, and bellowed the bathrooms are closed. Needless to say, we left immediately. I grew up in this town, and a business with someone like this doesn't belong here and certainly shouldn't be making money off the wonderful people of this town.

So, tinkly before you go! Because the place is small but mighty, filled with all kinds of fun little treasures, and this was one of my favorite antique shop stops on my trip. I did read a comment on here about their mistletoe and margarita party. I think that the person who wrote it obviously is someone who likes to get something for free. This event is a free one that the store puts on and obviously this person wasn't a shopper for items, but someone who just showed up to get free drinks and then chose to write a nasty review because they couldn't get extra free stuff. It's so sad people like this exist. They show up to events take all the free stuff they can get and then get mad when they can't have extra. It's an event where people are supposed to be respectful of each other. I've been to this event and it's spectacular and the fact that the store does it for free and doesn't charge anything. It's pretty damn amazing. I absolutely love this place. I have never had a bad experience here and the owners are so friendly they would be mortified if somebody did.

The owners, Don and Nancy…read moreKoswieski, charged me over $1400. to pick up the items on whch they would collect 50% of the selling price of items sold but after a while they refused to complete the offering for sale of all the items after taking more than a year and half to offer for sale what items they did. They also damaged an antique clock of mine and were unwilling to reimburse me for its value and that became part of my original complaint to the Court.The Magistrate ordered that Don and Nancy Koswieski reinburse me for the value of the clock damaged while in their care. I took them to Small Claims Court also seeking "Specific Performance"--meaning that the Court compel the shop to finish offering my items for sale as had been originally agreed--but as it was a small claims action, the Magistrate did not rule on that specific issue. Instead, she ordered the items to be made available for me to pick up. I had not asked for their return nor for the associated pick-up charges in the original complaint, and because I had not done so, I could not later ask for the refund of the associated pick-up fees for those items. Despite my many, many requests, the shop inexpicably refused to provide me with a complete list of my items that had been accepted on consignment, that they had never offered for sale. The shop never refunded me approximately $300 in pick-up fees for the items never offered for sale. Nancy and Don Koswieski had filed a counter-claim seeking to charge me storage and other fees, but they did not prevail and the Magistrate denied their claim. No matter how many times I had asked the shop to simply complete the offering of my property for sale, they refused. I was obliged to take them to Court as a result. I would certainly not recommend consigning to Gallery 56 in Clinton Massachusetts

The place had a mix of authentic antiques and new made to look old stuff in a few booths. A number of booths featured vintage clothing, and home decor, with the full rainbow of small collectibles and ephemera. Also, as an out-of-towner, the directions took me to the front of the store, with only street parking, but there was a parking lot behind the building, and other fun shops in the building. This was on a lower level. Definitely a spot worth wandering around if you like old things.
