I work at a school, and it was embarrassing to know that as a teacher I got them. But Levia totally made the whole ordeal as stress free as possible! I called their main number that hooked me up with someone from my area. Pangla came out to my house. Luckily I was in the beginning stages and had a very small problem. She carefully checked everyone's head in the home and then began treatment. I was relieved I was the only one that needed it. I was able the night before to get rid of any sign of the adult lice by doing the mayo method. (Google instructions-super easy). However, the tough part is getting out all the nits. I couldn't ask my son or fiancé to do it for me, so I was so relieved to find a service that could come to my house and effectively get rid of all eggs in one go. I'll still continue to comb with the nit pik for the next two weeks, but I no longer fear that I'm potentially coming to work with the problem still going on. Thank you Levia! We had been using over the counter treatments such as Rid and even tried different home remedies, but none of them managed to completely kill the head lice AND nits (eggs). I reached a point where I didn't know what to do anymore as I simply did not know how to get rid of them.   I then looked up "lice removal service" through Yelp and reviewed a few of them - I chose LEVIA because they sounded like the most comprehensive lice treatment, and at that point I didn't want to take any chances, especially since I was paying. I booked an appointment for the same day. A LEVIA lice specialist named Pangla came over and provided a very thorough and encompassing service that included 3 treatment stages all during the one visit - heat, manual removal and product. She wasn't intimidated by my girls' long curly hair either! She was very friendly, patient and professional. She also provided some tips on how to reduce chances of re-infestation. They were kind, respectful, thorough, and honestly, very relaxed and supportive with our frustrated energy (clearly we reached our breaking point!). The each took time to explain their treatment process, gave us an entomology lesson on the lifecycle of lice ;) and the after care needed. Is it costly? YES, very much so especially in our present CA economy. Given there were 2 people in the family that needed treatment, I felt so discouraged BUT for a "medical appointment" it makes sense. Antoinette directed us to the insurance coverage and encouraged us to try that route to recoup some of the cost. I called back and spoke to Ash and explained that I was angry regarding the fact that 1. her technician found nothing and 2. that I was out the money I had spent for the visit and checks. She offered to have the technician come back out and do the treatment, taking out the what I had already paid (so I would pay the difference). I set up the appointment and she called me back 15 minutes later to say that the technician wasn't feeling well and that she felt she did a good enough job the day before looking for them so they wouldn't be sending anyone out to our home to solve our problem. At least they are refunding me my money, but at the end of the day, they didn't provide the service they are supposed to provide. I presented for my initial intake, after verifying that my insurance was accepted via phone months in advance upon scheduling the appointment, adding my insurance information into the intake form, and verifying my insurance the day before my appointment, via online check in. When I presented for my appointment, I brought my very same insurance card and was immediately told that they were unable to verify if my insurance was active with the system that they use. The receptionist was incredibly unprofessional, told me that I could lose my appointment due to issues verifying my insurance on their end, dismissed me to sit and wait, then proceeded to loudly announce my insurance and personal information to a silent waiting room while she was on the phone with the insurance. She was unsuccessful at reaching them, proceeded to be unprofessional and told me that it was my responsibility to call my insurance because she was unable to verify if it was active. All while she was loudly whispering about the situation to her coworker, as I sat 5 ft away. That is frankly not my job, nor do I feel like I should be at risk for losing my appointment that I took sick leave for, came prepared for, and scheduled months in advance because they are unable to do their job or even call to verify the information a day in advance. This could have been very easily prevented. It is the patient's responsibility to present with an active insurance card and not expect to have to wait 30 to 40 minutes, that they may not have to spare, with the risk of their appointment being cancelled or their care being delayed. I then waited while a supervisor was able to verify that my insurance was in fact active. Apparently that is not something that could have been done months to weeks to even days before my appointment. The person checking me out blamed my insurance and took no accountability, when I asked what I could have done differently to prevent this from happening. I was told "It's just your insurance." I received no apology for the unprofessional treatment or the 30-40 minute wait. After having to wait that long, just to be seen by a dermatologist, I was met with very rushed care. I felt like I had to very quickly run through each of my concerns, for an appointment that lasted maybe 15-20 minutes. I did not feel like the dermatologist read anything about the history I provided. I also had to ask her about one of my main reasons for making an appointment in the first place, as she rushed to conclude the appointment, as if I had not presented the same reasons for making the appointment to the medical assistant that checked me in. This was an incredibly unprofessional experience and I have very little faith in the validity of the information I was given or the care that I paid for, because of how rushed it was. Not a great feeling to have, as a patient seeking routine care.
