Then Dr Strash came in and physically manipulated my foot, gently, he identified the areas of my injury. He is outstanding and sent me out the door with my continued healing plan. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. I'm always greeted upon arrival and seen in under 10 minutes. They set me up for surgery within 2 weeks. Dr Strash thoroughly explained the procedure to me and made me feel at ease. 2 post op visits later, I'm healing well after bunion surgery on both sides of my right foot. This is my 3rd bunionectomy on this foot (2 from other drs in the past) and by far the most invasive yet easiest healing process. Incisions were nice clean cuts. I saw Dr Silas Espino at the Sonterra location in May. When booking the appointment I was told my insurance was accepted and it was "in network". Then I received a huge bill because my insurance company said they were out of network. This happened during the transition of Strash Foot & Ankle care and South Texas Podiatrist. I made several calls to the insurance company, the billing department and to the staff that booked the appointment to try to rectify. During one of these calls, the office clerk did a three way call between me, her and the billing clerk. the billing clerk did not know I was on the line. She made the comment "that's what happens when the office mgr gives out incorrect info". Then she realized I was on the call. She proceeded to tell me not to pay the bill for now as they are getting clarification as the practice was recently sold and they were told to accept all insurances. Well 5 months later I get the bill again. I paid it because I did not want my credit score affected. Needless to say I would not have seen a doctor out of network and shame on the billing dept to continue to bill after the office staff admitted they gave out information to the patience stating they were in-network. read more

I went in because I had a bunion and hammertoe on my right foot. He put screws in my big toe and a rod in my second toe. I thought all the swelling was just needing some time to heal. Two years after the surgery and my second toe stays swollen and overlaps my big toe. I have more pain now than before my surgery. read more

I have never left a review in my life but as someone works in healthcare and medical legal teams I need to say this: Did anyone receive care from this facility and get called numerous times to pay an outstanding balance on a bill? I was told by the staff that I had to pay the visit in full the first appointment which was almost $300 (ridiculous for one biopsy), then the following visits would be cheaper bc I had met my deductible. So, my insurance didn't cover any of the bill. I was then called to pay a bill for the lab sample and now, I'm being told to pay $140 because insurance "rejected a payment". The lady on the phone offered a "50% discount" but only if I gave my card number over the phone immediately. If i went into the office to pay, I could only use check and no longer receive a discount. This seems like a red flag and am willing to report this practice to the city/board if anyone else has received the scam-like emails. This company also posts patient notes in this review section which is a violation of protected health information and can also be added to my report. AGAIN, please respond if this sounds like a similar experience. ADDITION 08/07/23: DO NOT RECEIVE CARE FROM THIS PRACTICE!! I have been a patient of Dr Strash after another provider on the clinic moved to a different healthcare system. Dr Strash has been wonderful in helping me get my custom orthotics and the scans needed to determine my diagnosis. I went today for my appointment as I've had an increase in pain from the arthritis. Whoever is at the front desk (8/12/24 3PM) has no business with a people facing position. The receptionist is the face of the practice. Her attitude was very condescending when I was trying to explain what I had been told on multiple phone calls through the prior week. It seems they use some new call center to take calls and there is a severe communication disconnect between the call center and the office. I had been asking for a cost estimate and she rudely said it's my responsibility to know what I need to pay. How am I supposed to know what 20% of my responsibility is if I don't have an estimate of what is going to be done. I spoke with Bailey last week and she found my old records and saw the notes of what would be done. I called today before my appointment and Baileys information changed from what she told me last week. This lady today said she couldn't look anything up until I did the entire signup on the iPad. Very off putting in her tone and demeanor towards me and I decided to leave. Still in pain but the office staff are the ones making the doctor look bad. I was a patient of Sr Strash for several months last year during my stay in that particular area. He was professional, courteous, explained everything completely and thoroughly. He is an excellent Podiatrist and friend. Recently I understand their is another physician assisting in his practice. Dr Bills treated me for a few months and performed surgery on my right foot. I would not recommend him to anyone. The surgery now has to be repeated as it was done incorrectly. Along with that he was not one who would listen to the patient and drew conclusions totally on his own. My observation is that he totally decides to perform surgery "HIS" way and not as it was written in the manuals. Most physicians listen to their patients before they form a diagnosis, you will not receive this courtesy from him in my opinion. Unprofessional staff and always late. Second appointment and Dr. Mechell has been more than 15 mins late and I always arrive 10 mins early. The front staff at the Alamo Heights location was very rude and condescending to a previous patient saying'well once you bought it, you bought it' and not assisting him with the device he had paid for the day before. This is my third visit over a Ten to fifteen year period. Each time I have received great care. The only other review says stuff is expensive. Go to any podiatrist. It is a bit costly. This is a pretty busy practice. Despite this, I was seen fairly quickly, about ten minutes after my scheduled time. Not bad. Dr. Strash saw me today. Before that, Brittany the X-ray tech/nurse took X-rays and my vitals. Cool chick. The doctor reviews the X-rays and thoroughly explained what he was seeing. Nothing broken. Whew!! It is an inflamed tendon that is attached to the long bone on the outside of the foot. I can't pronounce any of what he said, but I could follow pictures. Ha, ha. I had to remind him of our first meeting years ago. He had a mop of hair and a ponytail. Today, he looks so professional. We got a laugh out of that. Anyway, I received the steroid shot from hell (which gave instant relief) and an ankle brace. Brittany helped me maneuver the ankle brace. Thank goodness she is patient. Stop your search for podiatrists and book an appointment with Dr. Strash. He is incredibly adroit and I assure you that you will not regret it. I had avoided seeing a podiatrist for my uncomfortable big toe nails which had grown into mean ingrown nails. As a runner, I became discouraged as I wasn't able to stay fit or go running due to my stabbing jagged nails. I also felt awkward always requesting to get my toe nails out at a salon knowing that's not really their job description (to be a mini surgeon). After watching enough ingrown toe removal videos I knew at some point I would have to get this done. I had built up so much anxiety about the whole process that I became obsessed with reading reviews on podiatrists. I have been diligently looking for a great podiatrist for about five years on and off and I was willing to travel even outside of the country to find someone. After much research, I was willing to travel to Canada where there are ample podiatrists who had thousands of testimonies, stories, and everything that I was searching for in a doctor. I then came across Dr. Strash who was on the same Canadian list of doctors. I decided to drive from Austin to San Antonio to see him. After explaining to the assistant why I waited so long on and how I was willing to travel to Canada, I learned that Dr. Strash is in fact from Canada. This cracked me up and made me feel so much better due to my personal research. As far as the procedure itself- yeah, it hurts, but just the needle which injects the novacaine. After that you don't feel a thing, promise. The healing process which is up to the patient to make sure we keep it clean and soak it. I did experience pain that night as the injection wore off and called the doctor at a very late hour. At that time, I had built up enough of a good rapport to want to finish the job on my other toe. This time I had a very quick and painless recovery. The real results will be years from now to determine if this was a success or not. Until then I will say this was successful so much to the point that I could trade this man out with a family member. Dr. Strash really impressed me with his bedside manner. I even asked him to help me trim down my toe nails especially since I felt uncomfortable about infection risk and judgement at a nail salon. Overall, I am very passionate about getting this issue resolved and feel like I could become a ingrown toe nail removal spokeswoman, honestly. The bedding of your big toes have nerve connection throughout your body and I immediately felt a difference with my jaw and my TMJ has subsided. Horrible experience, I had an appointment at 9:30am , showed up at 09:38 , the receptionist was rude didn't look me in the eye and said I will ask the doctor If he will take you, came back said he can't because he has a surgery at 11:45 . Dr. Cheney has performed 3 foot surgeries in the las 5 years and I am going to have another one. He definitely knows exactly what he is doing and he also takes the time to repeatedly (if needed) explain the details of your surgery. Also I respect him in that he doesn't operate just because he can...,, if your Heath is not up to part he will not do the surgery. Meaning I was ready for surgery had a last minute test that was out of range. He could have did the surgery as scheduled made the money...... Had me to deal with the out of range issue....... Redid whatever surgery........ Again and loads more money. Well not and thank God‼ he practically saved my life.
