We as tourists to New Zealand had a horrible degrading experience in this lounge. When we came in, the TV was already on a major World Series baseball game. We had been watching it for about a half hour along with other spectators when the channel was changed to a rugby game without asking all of us who were watching. The guy who had requested it changed came in and was surprised that we had been watching it, and said that his team was playing a big game. Even though they had multiple TVs in the lounge, they were unable to have them on different channels. Defying common courtesy, the management decided to leave the channel on the new one, not the one we had all been watching. We asked multiple times for it to be changed back to the way it was given we had all been there first even though we understood that game was important to him too...but there was little, if any, effort taken to rectify the issue. We finally decided to leave, and the the guy who had asked for the channel to be changed basically summed up why his game was more important than ours- "because we're in New Zealand." So, even though 1. we were in an international terminal 2. with the channel already on the World Series and 3. all other TVs in the terminal already on the rugby game he wanted to watch, we felt completely unwelcome and shafted by this place. No cultural or human sensitivity. read more
