It pains me to rescind stars from a review I previously made, especially since it was quite a few years ago. However, recent events have brought many questions along with a lot of frustration to light. A bit of history: our house was built in late 1988. In April 2015 there was a significant hailstorm that our area experienced. Our roof at the time was obviously quite old, but the impact from the hail did it in. Under the recommendation of our insurance office, we contacted Strata Roofing to repair the roof on our 2800 square-foot home. In August of 2015 the roof was completely replaced. Fast forward now to July 2024. It's been 9 years since our roof was done, but Hurricane Beryl had other plans for us. An 80-foot tree fell, crushing the back part of our detached garage and eventually landed across the yard, damaging part of our main structure. Besides the partial rebuild of the actual house and garage, obviously our roof needed to be repaired. Only about one-third total of the roof needed to be replaced, but since our current contractor found that our shingles were no longer available, we decided to replace the entire roof to avoid having two different colored shingles. And this is where the truly alarming part of the story occurs: what a shock when we found that multiple areas of the decking (wood below the shingles) had huge (and I mean HUGE) holes in them, as well as some areas that had no decking at all! Now, multiple smaller holes are not uncommon from what I understand. But one hole that measured 3 feet by 2 feet? Or large enough to fit a child through? And a piece of missing decking altogether? Which leads us to speculate: did these holes occur prior to the roof being replaced by Strata and they just shingled over this deteriorated wood, ignoring the obvious need for replacement? Or did these holes occur after the roof was replaced, with shingles being inadequately applied resulting in water seeping under and then rotting out the decking? None of this, however, would explain a completely missing piece! Whatever the reason, it's obvious, in our opinion, that Strata did not do a satisfactory job in replacing our roof a mere 9 years ago. Fortunately, most of the holes were in areas that were above the soffits, so any leaks that may have resulted did not impact our interior. But one of the holes (the one the size of a child) was right above our kitchen breakfast area and the other 3' x 2' hole was above our attic, which probably did leak into our attic insulation. In all, our current contractor stated that it's normal to replace one to two partial pieces of decking using about one large piece of plywood. We, however, are on plywood piece number 5. Yikes! We thought Strata did an admirable job in 2015. Wow, were we fooled. We now believe that either Strata slapped up shingles without any thought of further roof repairs or something else went terribly wrong with their installation. Whatever the cause, I can't get beyond the fact that our original roof lasted 27 years and this one lasted 9. That is quite a difference. Be advised. read more

We started building a house ourselves and contacted Strata roofing to get a price for a standing seam metal roof with a 7/12 pitch. They were not the cheapest or highest, but their work looked better than most of the other roofs put on by other companies. John H came out to the house and I got a quote a few days later we were not in a hurry because we already had underlayment on the roof that was supposed to be good for 1 year. The roof has been on for several months and a few good storms with winds up to over 45 mph with no issues. A good rain does clean the dust and pollen off the roof and it looks new again. They were willing to wait until I got bricks on the house to finish installing the downspouts for the gutters. Had Berridge Double-Lock Zee-Lock Panels installed that were made onsite that took several days to install. Looks great after several months. I have recommended Strata roofing to anyone looking for a new roof that ask and I don't recommend many of the people that I have worked with or others that I have seen their work. Very glad to have a company like Strata Roofing nearby. I contacted them to repair a leaky roof on my 3 story house and they exceeded expectations. Our home has a moderately steep roof, but Strata had no issues. I got a call back to schedule a walk through within a couple days of leaving a voicemail (originally hoped I would get a quote same-day, but I did call over the new year holiday). Rio came out on a Monday evening, adjusting to my work schedule, walked me through how he would address the issue, got me a quote by Wednesday and had the repairs done by Friday while I was at work. Got photos back the following business day showing what work had been performed. Before work proceeded I asked what was included in the lump sum bid, and Rio explained basic inspection and minor repairs. Anything major he would call before proceeding. After getting the pictures back, it looked like the repair was pretty extensive (replaced plywood and shingles), but Strata stayed by their quote. Contractors that provide quality work, fair prices and honest business practices are hard to come by. Strata seems to be one of those contractors. Easy 5 star review. read more

We selected Stata because of their overwhelmingly positive reviews, and they did not disappoint. First, ask for Frank! Unlike other on-site managers who just make the rounds and check in, Frank devotes a significant amount of time on-site. He was knowledgeable and reassuring when it comes to informing the homeowner, plus he is nice to talk to and will give you great BBQ advice. Once we decided to go with Strata, the re-roof happened swiftly. The owner, Christian, gave excellent advice on material options and color selections for our house. He worked with our insurance, and it became hands-off for us as he negotiated adjustments needed to address the roof and damage to the soffit unseen prior to the tear-off. During construction, he introduced us to a masonry contractor for repairing our entryway bricks who also did phenomenal work, swiftly, and at a reasonable price. Strata used high-quality materials, safely executed the process (with no workplace incidents) and provided a thorough cleanup. Just today I was cleaning out debris from plant beds after the freeze and found only ONE roofing nail. Care was taken to minimize the impact on the considerable number of plants around the home. They collaborated with us to install our low-pitch entry with a commercial-style gutter system. NO MORE OVERFLOW. Integrated chimney cap restoration with the roof work happened, and no complaints all around. Finally, they installed, three high-quality, solar ventilation fans, at Strata's suggestion - these have noticeably lowered my attic temperatures and I highly recommend them in general. Strata provided us with a super competitive quote compared to 3 other businesses. The work they did was to replace the cover on a very large free standing patio cover. They replaced the roof as well as rotted boards. So far, it seems like a solid job with no leaks. Site cleanup was good. We had a big delay and lots of frustration in dealing with one of the sales guys initially. He provided the quote and never returned multiple calls, emails etc. still giving them a good review because the owner took care of us and honored the quote. read more

Had a new roof done by these guys Monday!!! WOW! Talk about a crew!! While my house isn't the largest I'm sure they have done (it's about 1600 sq ft) they treated my job as if it was a big one! They showed up at about 7 am and by about 6:30-7 pm they were done!!! They left my yard cleaner than before they started!! Yes a new roof can be a bit of a headache - literally - the noise it entails & my poor dogs freaking out all day lol - but what a bang up job they did! They maybe took a 30 minute break for lunch (a WELL DESERVED ONE IN MY mind) and were right back at it!!!! Strata Roofing recently completed a job for us that included a new roof with an under shingle radiant barrier, added ridge vents, solar attic vents, replaced all of the old wood siding with HardiPlank siding and did custom gutters and gutter covers for a 4,200 sq. ft. home. Our home is 2 story with very high peaks and awkward roof angles. Chris Kadlecek came to our home well prepared to give us an estimate - he had detailed information, listened to our ideas and provided excellent recommendations. He and his team worked with our insurance company (USAA) and our adjuster. When work started, the Strata team covered our pool, plants and shrubs with tarps to minimize the mess and damage. At the end of each work day, the crews cleaned thoroughly behind them. Chris was present at the worksite every day and was always available to answer our questions.
