It took me two visits of asking for an update before a part was mysteriously sourced within ten minutes of my second visit. I was then quoted a rather high repair bill but due to desperation, I agreed to get it done, on the assumption that it would also be re-MOT'd at the end of it. I was phoned on the day, after the repairs were done, to be told that I would not be getting an MOT and if I wanted one, due to the time it took to get repaired, I would have to pay full price again. I ultimately took my business elsewhere and regret ever going there.

When i went to drop my car off I said to my friend I had a bad feeling and no chance was my car going to pass and guess what it failed. I was quoted £145 to replace a cracked bolt in the suspension. When i phoned around I was told £99 was the max. I queried the cost and £42 was immediately taken off. The pick up time was put back and back as they were having problems getting some old screws off when I eventually did pick up the car I drove to the top of the road and had to come back. Ever time I turned the steering wheel the car shuddered. After twenty minutes of" looking over" the car the Manager returned to say nothing was wrong. When I left the garage the problem had magically disappeared.I will never use or recommend this garage again and if I had seen the previous review I would not have booked. No point getting a cheap MOT when you have no faith in the integrity of the garage. If I knew where the old guy who used to work there had gone I would go there next year but will definitely not be coming back to this place. Avoid!

On the day of retest the were very rude and unprofessional. They assumed that my handbrake was not well adjusted. This was only mentioned in the retest with no paperwork proving that and it was not mentioned in the MOT certificate which would make sense because the Brakes were changed before the MOT. I decide to go to another MOT centre and they highlighted the play in the inner track pad end as advisories that need to be monitored and it was not excessive. This was exactly what the MOT certificate from June stated. So what 2 MOT centres highlighted as advisories was a major defect according to Byres Road Garage.

With in an hour I got a call and the was trying to sell me a second problem the front discs and pads. I know the limit for discs and pads yes they are worn but still have some life left. The issue with the knocking /rattling while accelerating was not addressed how ever they told me it was a ball joint so they changed the swing arm. When collecting the car and paid I noticed the noise was still there just shows they didn't even test drive the car after the incorrect work they done. Left the car with them just for them to not do anything to sort the issue cos they already got their money so bigger that customer. You are better off using someone else Also please be aware that they will try to get you to pay cash as the old receptionist try to push me to do sever times while I was there. This is a way they avoid paying tax. Be aware read the reviews on them and be mindful full of the reviews as for every bad review they most likely have their staff write 2-3 good reviews. At first seemed ok, although never once was I given a receipt.The other year while my car was in for repair I was told I needed my full braking system done, which I paid for. Approx 18 months later again i was told my brakes "were a disgrace" and needed done..again.I again paid for this work,i then had to return car for various reasons..front brakes seizing on, also handbrake seized on. I have now just been informed my rear brakes have never been changed in years, never mind twice in under 2 years, only adjusted to improve them. With no receipts I have no comeback for this. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anybody to get their tyres fitted by ACE Tyres. Recently they fitted 4 new tyres…read moreto good condition alloys for me. There were 4 issues: 1) ACE Tyres cannot fit tyres. The first time they fitted the tyres 2 of the tyres were soft after 1 day as they leaked air from around the valve. So I had to bring my car back to get them re fitted. A week after this I had another soft tyre and this wheel was still leaking air from around the valve. So I brought it back again and when they had finished they tried to charge me £14.50! It took them 3 attempts to fit the tyres before they got it right, 3 trips for me to the garage and not to mention the safety issue of deflating tyres! No wonder our nation is in decline! 2) ACE Tyres damage alloys. Each time they refitted the tyres they damaged the alloy rims using their crude tyre levers. This has harmed the look of my alloys, especially the one that they took 3 attempts to fit they tyre correctly, it is destroyed! Corrosion will soon set in due to the damage. 3) ACE Tyres make a mess. Each time they fitted a tyre they smeared blue tyre sealant all over the face of my clean alloy wheel which took a lot of cleaning to remove. 4) ACE Tyres damage your car. When he put one of my wheels in to the boot he decided to bounce it off the bumper on its way in to the boot. There was a large cracking noise and I subsequently found a 2 inch split in my bumper! To summarize I am no longer giving them trade.

I needed three new tyres and they repositioned all of them in the way that made the most sense for our long-term wear (without me even needing to ask). I chose it because they seemed like the cheapest when I did some research online. The place is located not too far from the city centre, and it seemed quite busy, even on a Monday morning. The guys were ready for me, and it was done in about an hour or so. It cost a little less than I was expecting it to, so overall, I'm rather happy with the service, and with the cost. They even had free coffee and biscuits in their waiting room.

I returned the car to Collins to be told there is a leak from the coolant system and will probably need a new part. On explaining there was no leak prior to the service on my car which they conducted and the fault must be with them damaging the part, they denied all. "It's just coincidence", I was told. No offer of repair to make things right. A poor show or now show of the customer is always right.
