My friend and I were out on a weekend camp trip in Bourbon MO (rural), and I realized I had forgotten something rather important - my inhaler. Found the closest 'Walgreens' via a quick web search and headed to Sullivan. Strauser was apparently affiliated with Walgreens - so we went into to see if there was any way in hell I could get a refill. The kind lady at the pharmacy took my cards and looked me up. She was able to pull an old, unexpired prescription refill and hook me up. She took it and filled it immediately, and I was all set. If you are not familiar with the joys of asthma and respiratory unpleasantries, losing/forgetting/running out of the ol' Albuterol inhaler can be pretty scary. She could probably see that on my face and hopefully realized that she saved the day and entire weekend. Thanks you, Strauser pharmacy. read more

They close for.lunch and turned me away .there is no posted lunch time ..I drove 20 mole to go there and get turned away by to little short cubby old ladies they looked like twins and they were happy to turn me away ..I was embarrassed and alittle mad..very rude Karen's at there door just waiting to uoset oeople and they enjoyed it...but yall wont see me in there ever .. read more

Too bad that Walgreens bought them out! Actually, I guess it seems preferable to shutting down because they built a new one across the street. I took my aunt here recently because a refill for an old prescription from when she lived out here that was going to expire. She had filled my head with visions of an old school, old fashioned independent pharmacy, complete with Hallmark ornaments year round, knock-knacks (or what-nots, if you prefer), candy, etc. etc. etc. We were both so shocked to see that this is a full-fledged Walgreens on the inside, one that you would recognize anywhere in the country. What a shame to have missed out seeing what is now more curiosity than reality. Now for the good parts. In addition to what seems like a complete selection of any big city Walgreens (laid out differently, to be sure) they apparently kept many/most of the employees, all of whom seem to have a smile and exude small town friendliness. I am not exaggerating when I say there were at least 10 pharmacists on duty, at 11am on a weekday, all working faster than at any other pharmacy anywhere. (Top that, any Walgreens in the STL metro) I just wish I could have seen it before it became "Powered by Walgreens." read more

I was so sick, but my electric blanket stopped working, and I couldn't start my fireplace as the…read morewood was too green. I couldn't even talk, because I'd lost my voice coughing. I bought wood, an inhaler, a new blanket, prepared salads and ham for protein. I've barely eaten in days, and it was hard labor trying to stand up. I scanned all my items at the self check out, for $133.67. It asked for my phone number and said pay zero. The register was done, and I moved along. Walmart needed to see the receipt it didn't give me, and it didn't show up on my account, so they held me prisoner trying not to vomit or soil myself, but I couldn't stop the tears from the pain on not being able to go back home to bed. Eventually the manager was able to search the charge by the amount my credit card paid Walmart, and I was allowed to leave. That's messed up.

The tires that the website said were available for installation had to be ordered . Then I tried to make an appointment , counter person couldn't do it . After almost 4 hours the next day , waiting since 7 am , they wouldn't install the tires because of a missing lug nut . Hmmm the sign says .. lug nut 3.95 Only one person working in the shop on a Saturday. Sullivan Tire and Schnucks, here I come !

The shop is bursting with products, so the aisles are a bit tight for passing people stopped to check out the fun products. We ordered an ice cream flight with five samples, perfect for sharing since we couldn't decide on just one of the many delicious flavors. The assortment of chocolates looked amazing too. Upstairs, you can stroll through a collection of antiques that add even more charm to the place. We really enjoyed our visit -- it's a place that makes you slow down, take it all in, and maybe leave with a few extra treats you didn't plan on.

Located just 10 minutes down the road from Six Flags Amusement Park on the old Route 66. A pleasant ride with country scenery on both sides. There is a place called Red Cedar Inn (owned by the City of Pacific) to welcome visitors to the area. Just past a Silica plant the area opens up to businesses on both sides of the highway. There are three places out there that feature antiques, collectibles and in one instance a nice clothing boutique. The new place is Route 66 Goodies on the left if driving westbound. This place is packed with third party curated merchandise. Most are open booths where customers can handle items, with a wall of locked cases on one side. The cases are necessary in one case to preserve the condition of the collectibles inside (like new toys from the 1990s-early 1990s, comics and trading cards). There is also nice glassware and a few pieces of antique and vintage furniture. I recommend checking it out someday and have lunch at one of the many restaurants that are spouting up here and there.
