I've walked by Strawberry Fields quite a few times but never took the time to browse. They always have some jewelry and other goodies for sales on the sidewalk and most of it looks like a jumbled, disorganized mess because, well, it is. It's the kind of place you definitely need time to sort through piece by piece to find some treasures. The owner can be a little much, as others have noted on here, but that's the kind of zany personality I suppose you can expect from a vintage shop owner. She seems to want to be helpful to her customers and points out all the deals and special items - although I could see how this might come across as overbearing. She helped me find a cameo necklace after I inquired, which I ultimately passed on, but I appreciated that she took the time to show it to me. The signage for some of the deals is a little unclear. I overheard a customer pick up rings from the "buy four get one free" section and then be told that those rings weren't part of the sale... definitely very confusing. After several minutes of sorting through, I managed to find a pendant, a necklace, and two rings that I absolutely adore. The total was just under $15 which was a steal considering, upon further inspection, one of the rings ended up being 14k gold. I'll return! read more

Wonderful experience ! I stayed for sometime looking through her jewelry collection. At no point did I feel rushed. A lot more options jewelry wise than other vintage shops around. She even helped me find some pieces I was looking for. All I needed was to give her a description of what I was looking for and she was on it! Lately I've been a big fan of turquoise jewelry and blues. I found some pretty neat finds. Every minute spent was interesting between finding cool pieces and hearing her stories of her working in her shop throughout the years. Very sweet lady! Highly recommend read more

i went to strawberry fields on mother's day. where i overheard the owner christen tell her very noticeably teenage employees to stop drinking water as it looks unprofessional, she was also seen yelling at them multiple times within the 15 minutes was at the location. the store was also very disorganized and seemed like a hoarder situation if they owned a storefront. if you go here please be aware of the women you are supporting and how she treats her underage staff. read more

This place as a lot of smalls! She always has rings, necklaces, post cards, and some old pictures thrown in there too, a TON of records. The space is tight so, go in knowing you might have to shuffle around with people. read more

I just stopped by Strawberry Fields in Hamden and had such an awesome time! As a long time Beatles fan, finding a store like this was a godsend. I saw a bunch of good condition Beatles records for great prices ($5 to $10), as well as other neat finds around the store. You don't have to be a Beatles fan to come here, but if you are, it's even more worth the trip! read more

It is impossible not to like Strawberry Fields or its friendly owner. Both are chock full of authentic Baltimore charm. The merchandise is priced to sell and turns over pretty quickly. If you are looking for anything in particular, leave your name and she will give you a call when it turns up. The high turnover means that the record selection varies from okay to amazing depending on the day. This is the kind of place that other record store owners raid to buy cheap vinyl that they can then mark up and sell to the hipsters. Or maybe I should say to the 'other' hipsters, the ones who pay retail. Last time I was there I scored two James Brown records, a Marvin Gay, a Barry White, and a rare Duke Ellington, all for less than twelve bucks. read more

I was looking for an elephant for a friend of mine and the owner took her time pointing them all out to me. She was super friendly. If you collect Salt and Pepper shakers she has a ton! I popped into Strawberry Fields recently to dig through the records. Inside you'll find a relatively small shop with mostly vintage items/antique, magazines, records and jewelry. My review though is for the vinyl records since that was the main reason I stopped in... THE GOOD.. -owner seemed nice and was welcoming -several crates of records to dig through -1 Ikea Expedit filled with records to look through -prices were ok THE BAD... -lot of beaters (covers) $3 for most of them which is a bit much...a lot should be priced at a buck -more budget/thrift style records (ideal for some, not for me) -parking can be a challenge depending on the time/day...I can usually find something though within a reasonable walking distance. Overall, Strawberry Fields isn't really a record shop per say, but it may be worth a look to see if anything catches your eye. I walked out with one LP and one 12" single. I'd consider popping back in at some point to see if anything new found its way in. read more

Ahh this place is so neat! The owner is so friendly and quirky! They have a wide array of things from Vintage playboys, costume jewelry, and tons of vinyl on the second portion of the store! As well as lots of vintage decor. They also give student and teacher 10% off discounts! Overall, I'd definitely recommend and would totally go back! read more

A lot of really cool stuff, had everything that i personally like to collected and look through. Had a lot of records to go through, but they weren't (in my opinion) reasonably priced. It was more "hampden" pricing. Which is fine, we all gotta pay rent, but you can't get caught up looking at vinyl unless you've got some money your willing to spend. Fun place to look for reasonably priced vintage jewelry. The shop is small, but full of vintage rings, pins, brooches, necklaces, and earrings, some as low as $7! If you are into jewelry making, you should know that you will also find some well-organized vintage beads here, as well as other odds and ends. great store...i could spend all day in here!!! records, tapes, old jewelry, vintage photographs, baseball cards...just about anything antique. great prices as well. good selection of records...i bought heart's "dreamboat annie." The store also has a great retro/vintage aesthetic. I will definitely be coming back in the future!!! read more
