Always find the service helpful and friendly and their inventory is well organized. Had an issue recently with a damaged vinyl and they took care of it right away with no issues. This is awesome that there are still dedicated record shops out there. These keep tempting me to want to get a set up. For now though, I just really enjoy browsing and checking out the album art. Trax on Wax, compared to other places I've been in, has a great selection of new and used records. Prices vary depending on what you're looking for, so you might find some really good deals. Either way, it's a real pleasure of a place to browse through with an impressive collection. Negative parts: He sells incense by the door, so you get sort of clobbered with that smell as you walk in. Good music grows with age and this place is a real gem. I was Uber excited when I walked in and saw the endless collection of records. Anything from Smokey Robinson to Disney Ultimate hits are available to purchase. They also have 45s and record players for sale. The store is very well organized and easy to find whatever you looking for. I really appreciate the cooler for of this store and I appreciate how well the records are taken care of. Fun little spot. They could think about pricing some of the used inventory better or maybe offer some bulk discounts to thin out some inventory, tons of undesirable stuff to dig through to get to the albums anyone might want, but I think that's part of the crate digging charm, still, too much inventory and they don't really price it to move. Don't bother to try and sell them anything, they will take you for a ride (seriously, super low-ball negotiators), but as far as a fun little place to shop, it's pretty good, the staff are always friendly and helpful if you are looking for something specific. read more

Quant shop in downtown Catonsville full of titles from A-Z, overstocked and nicely categorized however I found the pricing to be a little too steep for my taste. Almost the entire inventory are all used and original titles but be careful with the pricing, you may get a better deal online. I grabbed a few copies from under the bins that were not priced, the clerk was a little hesitant to sell them but came back with a price that IMO was way too overpriced than what I would expect to pay for those albums, and quite frankly, the condition of them were 7/10 but I still went ahead and purchased without saying anything.. read more

Found this place on Yelp! and decided to stop on in. I'm glad I did, this is one great record store. This store is located in a rather funky part of Catonville, lots of eclectic restaurants and music stores in the area. This place just fit in with the neighborhood. You go into this place and you notice that this place is just loaded with vinyl, the things are everywhere; in boxes outside, on the floor, in front of the counter, underneath the display bins, this place is really well stocked. They have some new LP's as well as used ones. If I could give this place four and a half stars I would. Two things kept me from giving this place five stars; 1. The records are just a bit pricey compared to others I've been to. Not outrageously so, just a touch high. 2. Be sure to check the condition of the vinyl before you buy, I ran into a few scratchy ones. As it is, I bought a copy of Foghat-Rock and Roll for $5.99 and Rolling Stones -Through the Past Darkly Volume II doe $12.99. Not bad. Best record shop in Maryland. Selection blows your mind. Prices are extremely fair. Well organized. Knowledgeable & friendly staff. I was in here most Wednesdays for the better part of two years. I can't begin to tell you how many amazing finds I've had. My wife probably wishes there were fewer. Gary is a true gentleman. Down to earth, cool to talk to, always receptive to questions or concerns. Obviously professional who does this because he loves it. That's probably the coolest thing about shopping at Trax on Wax: supporting that type of business is just the right thing to do. My one and only criticism is that sometimes their bins are so stuffed that you literally can't look through the records without pulling some out first, but then again, being overstocked isn't exactly a bad thing! I'd recommend this shop to fans of new records, old records, metal, bluegrass, reggae, and classic rock. Solid five stars! read more

Nice little store that I imagine will start to come into its own more as the community embraces the local/small town feel of this record spot. -Good selection of new and old vinyl at decent prices -Friendly owner who is willing to help -The only CDs they carry are local bands...kinda cool -Small selection of t-shirts/stickers/puzzles/posters and other music-themed doodads. - Rare funk/jazz/bluesy stuff as browsing music -They will buy your old vinyl or convert it to CD for you I can't put my finger on it, but Trax on Wax still seems a little sanitized and less "lived in" than other Baltimore record stores. This could be a plus for you if you're over the sticker-covered dorm room feel of the others. It does seem as if the owners have plans to grow Trax on Wax into a destination where you can really hang, so I'll be back to check soon! read more

Rude. Second time visiting, I walk in. The place is a disorganized mess and the gentleman (term used very lightly) just says "getting ready to close guys" instead of allowing us that 5 minutes to grab what you e came in for pay and go. This store is a really nice addition to the Baltimore record store scene. I lived in Baltimore from 2007 to 2009, and this shop opened in the ensuing years. I've heard good things about Trax On Wax and finally had the chance to visit recently when I made a trip up from the Washington, D.C., region, where I live now. Wax on Trax is a virtually all-vinyl shop with a good amount of used and new records stuffed in the bins in a variety of genres -- rock, R&B, country, jazz and more. The stock is heaviest on 1960s to 1980s rock music, but you'll find other records here as well. I spent about two hours in the store and could have used even more time. The bins are so full that I often had to remove a few records in order to flip through the other offerings! I found a few LPs that I would consider rare, and I left a few others behind that were even rarer and a little pricier than I wanted to pay at the moment. The shop's selection is pretty deep and well organized, and your patience in digging through the bins will be rewarded. Prices are a touch high in my opinion, but that didn't really bother me because the used records are generally in excellent condition. There are also a fair amount of 45s here, and there are some interesting books, T-shirts and other music memorabilia as well. I also spotted some new turntables and record cleaning machines for sale, which is cool. The owner/operator of the store was working behind the counter, and he is very friendly and helpful. They seem to be selling their good stuff online not in the store these days. I have also found that one employee in particular is often rude and unfriendly. Trax on Wax is the Vinyl Solution! Catonsville's vinyl-only Trax on Wax (run by former Record & Tape Collector employee Gary Gebler), is our favorite new "real record" record store! My girlfriend Amy-the-discerning-music-shopper really scored there on a recent outing, bagging a motherlode of "black plastic with a hole in the middle." While I scoured through bins of Frank Sinatra records I already owned, she adroitly scavenged the new and used bins with breathtaking efficiency, picking up four Pete Shelley records (Homosapien, XL-1, Heaven and the Sea, and a "Telephone Operator" 12-inch EP) - thus adding to her burgeoning Buzzcocks Completist Collection...plus she scored two Godley & Creme LPs (L and The History Mix Volume 1) - thus adding to her fledgeling-but-already-burgeoning new obsession of recollecting all the 10cc and 10cc-related records she sold after discovering punk rock in 1976 (ah, the follies, faults and foibles of fickle-minded Youth!) Amy was especially thrilled with her History Mix score, as this was the Trevor Horn/J.J. Jeczalik (Art of Noise) collaboration LP that saw Godley and Creme remix songs from their career with 10cc ("Rubber Bullets," "Minnestrone"), Doctor Father, and Hot Legs. It also featured the single "Cry," which was was popular enough to be played on the TV show Miami Vice and for which Godley and Creme produced a groundbreaking "face morphing" music video that got quite a bit of airplay on MTV. Godley and Creme used analog cross-fading to create their 1985 morph video, years before the technology advanced leaps and bounds in Michael Jackson's famous 1991 music vid "Black and White." Along with El Suprimo Records in Fell's Point (where the taste and collection admittedly gets a bit more eclectic and off-the-wall), Trax on Wax is a vinyl junkie's dream. read more

I've been here a few times now and this a great record store with a ton of albums to dig through from multiple genres of music. The staff is very friendly and will answer any questions you may have about a particular record you may be looking for. If you want to park close to the store, there's metered parking and each time I come here I get so into crate digging that my time always expires...lol However, I haven't gotten any tickets! I've been to a lot of stores all around the country (and world, for that matter) and this one was a total shock. Catonsville is a burb outside of Baltimore, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Tucked on a cute main street with a lot of other fun shops, this store has some style. When I walked in I was surprised with how packed this place was with records. Very organized, but packed. You almost need to go into this place with a want list, because if you don't, you'll be overwhelmed. They sell quality records, you're not going to find junk VG or less records here at high prices. I'm sure some of the bargain records could be lesser quality, I didn't dig those, but they looked nicer than average too. From the pictures on Yelp, I believe the owner of the store was working the day I was in. I walked in to a friendly greeting, and the entire time he was super nice asking if I was looking for anything. Another gentleman came in as well and was looking for a turntable, he helped that guy out like they were old friends, and he left with a nice table. I could have browsed for hours, nothing felt pretentious, which I love. The prices were pretty standard, I don't think you're going to find any major bargains here, but you do find quality and a fun dig. Be careful when selling your records. I took in 4 boxed of vinyl and he took 19, as well as a box of 45s (with the case). Have gave me $25 and suggested I sell the rest at a yard sale for $1 each (more than he gave me!!). The next day I sold 4 records on Marketplace for $20. read more

This is the best record store in all of Maryland. They have everything you could hope to find. Gary is wonderful. I discovered this place about a year ago and I try to get in there at least once a month. The store is well organized and the LPs are in great condition. They even have a listening area where you can listen to the albums before you buy them. I have never asked about an album or an artist that they didn't know something about. I do visit most of the other record stores in the area and I can tell you that this one is by FAR the best. The prices are fair and the selection is second to none. Visit Trax on Wax and visit there often. This place deserves to be supported. read more
