Keep in mind that there are other students in the class, but he notices every detail about his students, the breath we take per move/reps (even with masks on), 2) PROFESSIONAL & COMMUNICATIVE - With his keen observation skills, he's quick to correct posture or can tell if we've trained before (I say he's psychic), he also has the ability to tell how we carry our backpacks/or handbags and if they are heavy or not, he will know based on our posture if we are the type who have sedimentary jobs or not and advises on how to autocorrect form. I do value the fact as we work out, he tells us where we should be feeling the burn and why and which part of the body we are working. 3) FRIENDLY & WARM/INTERPERSONAL SKILLS - he doesn't intimidate and he can easily make quick connections to build rapport and trust so as we are working out, he empowers us with confidence we need to push ourselves. He intuitively knows our personal limit as to when we need to be pushed hard and when we need to slow it down. F45 PLAINVIEW 1) I've been to many gyms and worked out with many trainers, but i do enjoy the F45 concept, 45 minutes your in and your out with a sweat. This is a great concept for those individuals who lack discipline in a gym environment. 2) Days are scheduled based on what the functional exercises and which area of the body you will be working (core, upper, lower, cardio, etc). 3) The camaraderie you gain when you attend. I only attended 2 sessions and the members welcomed me with open arms and thumbs up support in a few of the exercises I failed at. We all have a common objective in mind and its just getting through the 45 minutes is where we bond at... then its a great feeling when you see them again the very next day. If i could choose to be a member at F45 Plainview, I definitely would. But i'll need to find another F45 (and a Coach Chando) in PNW area. THANK YOU F45 PLAINVIEW & COACH CHANDO! I've spoken to them about it repeatedly, and all I get is ignorance and lame excuses. Today was the worst, though. After the hot water turned ice cold after 30 seconds, I toweled off and got dressed, and stopped at the front desk. There I got to deal with "Jhonny," who focused on his cellphone, ignored me while I tried to talk to him, then TURNED AND WALKED AWAY, without once acknowledging my presence. What. The. Hell?

I'm not from NY and was not previously familiar with Bev Francis' Powerhouse Gym. What an experience! First, this place is enormous. Largest square footage of pure lifting equipment I've ever seen, and even more so, the largest variety of machines. Some contraptions so esoteric, it's not even clear what muscles they work from looking at them. The place is like the Smithsonian of weight machines. But there were a few things I discovered that I really loved and wished my own local gym had something similar. Second, this place is crowded. I was there mid-morning Saturday, and it was packed. I didn't need to wait for machines since I wasn't following a specific program, but if I had gone with a very specific set of exercises and order in mind, it would have been frustrating. The equipment condition varied depending on their age. Some was great, some seemed like they should have been retired a decade ago. Be aware that the gym caters more to elite bodybuilding than elite powerlifting. It won't make a difference for 99% of people, but as one example, there was a relative paucity of squat racks and benches for a place this large. If you are worried about being intimidated by the clientele, that may be a reasonable concern. I'm one of the biggest guys in most gyms, and I was only about average among the 100+ guys that were there. Having said that, there were only 1-2 freakishly large dudes (i.e. probable pro-bodybuilders), and the handful of people I interacted with seemed all relatively friendly. But it's not a place for beginners. Tiny annoyance: they have 2 scales which differed by 7 pounds (despite zeroing the ancient balance scale)

Prices are a bit steep but it gets better if you go on a family plan. They also provide a lot of gym amenities to make the pricetag worth it. From pickleball courts to rock climbing. Basketball courts as well. There are so many things to do at the facility beyond normal gym and fitness. They also have an indoor and outdoor pool. Both of them are very large and spacious. The outdoor one also has waterslides and a poolside bar and grill. It really feels like a resort. The indoor amenities are good as well. You can relax in the hot tub or sit in a sauna/steam room. There are also cold plunge pools. I love the unlimited studio classes. Xtreme intervals and maxout upper/lower body are my favorites. The instructors are energetic and motivating. They always keep me on my toes while keeping the overall class still fun and entertaining. If you're looking for more than just a basic gym, Life Time is the place to be. People use the room as overflow from the main gym. People sit on 1 machine for 20 minutes at a time, not exercising... just scrolling their phone. Brought it up to the attendant at the desk several times and was told that I should point out to people that the room is for circuit use, as the sign clearly indicates. They said if anyone gives me a problem I could come back to the desk and they would deal with it. Okay, so first off... that's not my job. I pay to use that room as it is intended and how it was sold to me when I first came to look at the gym. Second, there are 4(!!!) attendants at the desk talking and on their phones. There is no station or presence anywhere else in the gym. When I first joined, over a year ago, staff took turns at least walking through the gym. How about you station someone in the back corner to oversee the gym and 30 min room so if there is a problem or safety concern someone doesn't have to go across the gym to get you? Simple.
