Ice Cream daily flavors for April.
Mikayla W.

Strickland's is a friendly, decently priced ice cream shop in Akron. They are celebrating 90 years this year in Akron as a business. What a legacy for a great local business!

Without a doubt, the best soft serve in the area! I like their sundaes, strawberry shortcake, peanut butter -hot fudge milkshakes and love their banana ice cream.

I went for banana and raspberry day. Great flavors and nice friendly service. Those two flavors remind me of the local "varsity aisle" that was once a staple in my hometown during my childhood. So I specifically went for both of those flavors, after keeping a close eye on their calendar.

This custard is truly "melt in your mouth!" It's so super creamy and the flavors are always changing! I played it simple and went for the classic vanilla, and my 2 yr old had a bowl of the strawberry. Both were really good, and I noticed their flavor of the day was Reese's cup. By the way, this is the original location and across the street from the Rubber bowl which is currently in process of being demolished... if you want to see it before it's gone, make the trip a yummy one and stop at Strickland's!

without a doubt and by far the best frozen custard on the planet. same machines since 1936. when I am back in Akron and in season I must get a chocolate cone. "founded in 1936 by Bill and Florence Strickland. During his years as an Akron Pure Milk employee, Bill developed his own rich recipe of cream, eggs, sugar and other ingredients. With his formula perfected, Bill turned his attention to developing an ice cream machine (called a "batch freezer") that would quickly freeze the ice cream, while limiting the air whipped into the product. The result is Stricklands' award-winning ice cream, frozen custard, yogurt and sorbet. "

Definitely one of our favorite spots for icecream. Not as many flavors as Handel's but custard is superior. Really really good

Best custard around Akron. Flavors rotate and the flavor calendar can be accessible online.

Some of the flavors are great and some not so much. The grape, banana, blueberry and peanut butter are the best! Their key lime not so much

What a treat after a paddle at Nimisila Reservoir. I live about 35 minutes from them, but might make the trip back just for the ice cream. Waylon's must know how to hire pleasant staff. Saw another review complimenting staff demeanor and it was true today as well. The young lady was so pleasant. Can't wait to work my way through the huge buckeye brownie that I brought home for tomorrow. It's huge, so hopefully the boys will help. The store is in a strip mall, so it's fairly unassuming. My order was confirmed and upon pickup they said to let the cake sit out 45 minutes (I wouldn't do that again though bc the cake was melting) I'd just take it out right when ready to serve next time bc it was very sloppy cutting the melting cake, but it was so so good. My husband and kids loved it. It tasted like real ice cream and tasted like authentic food not fake. Grant it I did not read the ingredients. I'd choose this again next.

Am I dumb or just cheap? Well, I certainly learned a valuable lesson about myself when I…read moreimpulsively got froyo at SweetFrog right after work on a cold January day. Froyo is a gamble - you never know how expensive it'll be until your cup is on the scale. You see allllllll those delightfully little toppings, laid out seductively in containers on a long, white counter, and suddenly, your ability to think rationally goes out the windows. For just a little treat, I paid nearly $6 for what I think wasn't a large amount of froyo. I put in 3 quick dollops of flavored froyo in the smallest cup they had and then tried to be methodical about choosing my toppings. The cheesecake froyo was yummy but the dole pineapple was disappointing. The salted caramel froyo didn't taste like much. Next comes the toppings themselves. I love that there was edible cookie dough (probably the item that made this a costly little treat) and bits of cheesecake, brownie, and cake pieces available. I also love how common popping boba is at froyo places. I would like to see mochi pieces and lychee as options as well. One thing I really dislike about this froyo shop is how it is always so dimly lit inside! Not only does it create a gloomy atmosphere but I had been wondering for MONTHS if this was even open! Well, it is and had one person working when I went there and about 3 others eating their expensive cups of sugary indulgence. So am I dumb? Yes. But was that edible cookie dough delicious? Also yes.

The kids used the smallest cups and filled them to the top. it ended up costing over $10.00 per cup. Save yourself some money and go to the ice cream stand next door. Paleteria La Fresa also has a rotating stock of homemade popsicles in familiar and unique flavors, from strawberry to avocado to Mexican custard! My Yelp friend who joined me for dinner and dessert there a few days ago has tried at least a dozen flavors - her favorite is avocado. This was my first visit to this restaurant and spent some time looking at the pantry stuff for sale (didn't get anything) and debating which flavor of popsicle to get for my first visit here, before ordering two Mexican street tacos and one carne asada sopes for dinner. My meal also came with unlimited chips and salsa which we immediately demolished! Ultimately, I chose to get the Mexican cake popsicle flavor which was so smooth and creamy and milky and then crunchy with Mexican chocolate slabs inside! It was very refreshing, unique, and not very expensive at 3 bucks. My tacos were saved for later (and tasted delicious a couple hours later at home) but I ate the sopes at the restaurant. It was generously piled with carne asada and the corn pancake was 1000/10! I will absolutely order sopes again! For $16.50, I had a lot of food, a nice treat, and great company. I plan to come again!
