Older locals may…read moreremember it as the site of the White Kitchen, an almost mandatory stop for food and fuel before I10 existed. The area was once home to a state line diner called the White Kitchen. According to local legend, Jayne Mansfield stopped in on her way from Mississippi to New Orleans. She perished in a car accident that night only a few miles away. The restaurant is long gone and all that remains are wide open spaces. The park doesn't offer any hiking trails for exploration but it does provide a peaceful setting for nature watching. The trees drip with Spanish moss and cypress knees poke up from the swamp. If you want to get out on the water there's a boat launch for easy access. If not, you can just stroll the boardwalk. You don't have to worry about close encounters with wildlife since the pathway is elevated from the water. There are alligators, frogs, turtles, snakes, wild turkeys, egrets, brown pelicans and ducks in the area. People have claimed to see bald eagles too. When I visited earlier this month I was only able to spot a few blue herons off in the distance. The place has seen better days. The placard at the end of the boardwalk must be at least twenty years old. It's sun-bleached and too faded to read. There are empty soda and beer cans floating in the water. The lack of maintenance detracts from the natural beauty. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this park but it's worth a stop if you're in the area.

The orders are fulfilled and ready for pickup prior to the estimated date when ordered. The hunting department staff are the most professional, friendly, experienced, and helpful individuals in the vast majority of retail businesses. They even mount and boresight optics for free on purchases made from SW and also offer firearm cleaning services. I would really like to send a special thanks to a young man named Ben, who takes the time to make sure all of my optics are mounted exactly to my preferences.

Keep in mind my fiance doesn't know much about the mechanics of the firearm, this is why we picked this pistol to get her started. This clerk starts asking her to rack the slide, drop the magazine, what type of bullet does the pistol use, how many rounds does it hold, who makes the firearm? She answers most of his questions and handled the firearm responsibility but he told her it was a "red flag" because she didnt know all the questions he asked and he personally thinks she is buying the gun for me!! Then tells her this isn't a "starter pistol"!! I ask what is a starter pistol? And ask for a manager, he states he is the manger! Then a lady i have worked with before says she is the manager!! I have helped all my daughters and other friends and family buy firearms and get trained. This experience ruined my fiance experience buying her first firearm. Needless to say I won't EVER buy here again..

Well after living in the south all my life I finally did a swamp tour with the kiddos and am here…read moreto report that even if you're a local you should consider a tour. It's entertaining and fun! It was raining when we arrived but they had raincoats for everyone and as soon as the threat of getting hit by a bolt of lightening passed off we went. The boats here are covered so getting beat down by the sun is not too much of an issue. Like I said it was raining when we went so the covered top protected us from getting drenched as well. We saw some gators almost immediately and that was pretty cool. They are almost tame out here and come to the boat when called to get a treat. We also enjoyed seeing lots of egrets and various other birds, a few racoons and lots of spiders and dragonflies. Our tour guide was very knowable and made a few corny jokes that the tourists and kids loved. We learned a lot about the ecosystem of the area. The tour lasted about 2 hours and was a great way to spend an afternoon. I highly recommend this tour! Tip-sit in the middle if possible. That's the best view and if you're at the very front or very back you'll get swamp water on you for sure.

Great views, great tour guide, lots of fun! We used an online coupon, which I highly recommend. Had no issues at all with it. Don't hesitate to take this tour, absolutely worth it!
