Brianna was our tour guide but everyone there was so friendly and helpful. They really made this experience enjoyable and amazing. Definitely get the feeding buckets. It's way better than you think it is. We probably should have gotten more. We had kids ranging from 4-12. This event was perfect for every age. Brianna was so patient and encouraging with all of the animal interactions. Things that I'm used to telling my kids, "no, don't touch!" She no only encourage touching, but holding, feeding and even riding one of the biggest tortoises, who was more than happy and not even bothered, he just wanted snacks. Holding the gator and some of the other reptiles was an absolute highlight of the trip. If you want something more interactive and family friendly, I highly recommend this spot. I can't say enough praises and I wish I could give more than 5 stars. read more

Unforgettable family experience and photo op holding Minnie the alligator. Also fun to interact with a bunch of other animals, including a very large and friendly white snake. Kids had such a blast and it was worth the drive to Ponchatoula from New Orleans area. Came here on a recommendation from a friend. We went in the winter so alligators were less active but glad it wasn't hot & humid. Great to hear that they're constructing a new facility, which should be a nice upgrade. As usual, I was looking for things to do in this overwhelming heat, and I see this, and while it is something probably best not done in the heat, I quickly forgot about the heat and was reminded once I got here and was outside on the tour. I came just as they had started a tour on a Saturday. Despite the heat, the tour guide was funny and informative. There were emu's, alligators, a crocodile, peacock, a turkey, lizards, snakes, and just so much to see. I really enjoyed myself and look forward to bringing guests with me in the future. It is reasonably priced. They are looking to move to a larger plot of land in the fall, so be aware of that. I really enjoyed watching the reactions of the kids that were on the tour. I did not quite catch the name of the tour guide, but evidently he was well known to some of the other people on the tour as he is an announcer for something local. read more

Cool experience! It says gator tour, however there were many other animals. We took a walk through a petting zoo, basically. There were gators to observe and we held a small friendly one. But I wouldn't call it a gator tour. The gift shop is hot and smelly. There were cats in the restroom. Don't even think about washing your hands- no running water. The tour guides were awesome! Took our kids here while camping nearby. We got there right at 11 when they opened. We wait in the store area. There is no air Conditioning anywhere and it's crazy hot. There are kittens running around everywhere (which my kids loved) and lots of other animals to see in cages. We purchased two buckets of feed for the animals. Once the tour started (closer to 11:30) we were led around the grounds. Beware! Wear old shoes. It's very wet and muddy. Animal feces and urine from the ducks and run off from the pens. There were also a bunch of mosquitos. The tour was very informative and there were several chances to hold some of the animals. As an adult I was miserably hot and sweaty but my kids loved every minute of it. read more

What was there was ok; however it is not as the website portrays. And definitely not worth the amount of admission $. You can walk around a wooden walkway and look at some animals in cages. If you are into snakes you will enjoy that brief encounter with a very knowledgeable handler. That is the extent of the "guided" tour. read more

This place was super fun! My family and I stopped by as a part of my birthday trip to New Orleans and i do not regret it one bit! Our guide was educational and it was awesome interacting and feeding so many different animals! the feed buckets were $5 in addition to admission. The place is definitely kid friendly and they make plenty of safety precautions. If you are being COVID conscious, they do not require masks so that is something to consider! My family personally decided to stick to wearing our masks to be safe but it was fun regardless! read more

We were very excited to go here and they said they were open on yelp and their website. We drove 30 minutes to go here and there was a sign on the door when we got there that they were closed and to look on their Facebook page for when they would be reopening. Definitely call before going to see if they are open. It would be helpful if they posted temporarily closed on Yelp or their website. Love this place!!! I've been here for a week visiting from California and I've been here three times lol. Today we purchased alligator tail to take back home. (I won't be eating lol) But I had to say good bye to the little skunk friend I made here. They have the CUTEST little baby skunk that is so friendly ( I can't remember his name) Coming here definitely made me want one of my own.. but unfortunately in California it's illegalannoying but whatever . The second time I came here my cuzzin and I went on the alligator tour, it was super adorable and totally worth it! We got to feed the alligators and even hold a baby one! If you enjoy off-the-beaten path adventures and want to be entertained and also sorta freaked out, this would be the place for you. This isn't a shiny touristy stop, this is legit swamp people running an odd and wonderful animal attraction. The gift shop and reception area smells very strongly of animal so prepare your noses. As you wait for your tour to start, you can check out all the snakes, turtles, and other creatures lining the walls. Once your tour starts, you can pet a skunk, sit on a turtle as he walks around, and hold an alligator that tour guide will wrestle to the ground for you. It's a lot to take in, but we'll be talking about this place for a while. (If you've seen the viral video of the family who used their crocodile to help with their gender reveal party, this is the family and you'll see that croc. We were there the day after the party and the croc was napping off his party hangover in one of the swamps.) read more

My adult son suggested we go to the gator place and I reluctantly acquiesced. Soooo glad we did! All 4 of our boys who were with us had a blast!! It was soooo fun!! We loved the giant tortoises and cockatiel and snapping turtles and crocodiles and ferrets and everything so much! The animals were as friendly as the host family. We arrived at 11:13am ( 1 hour before tour was to start) They don't sell tickets in till 10 minutes before tour is supposed to start. We got to check out the caged animals inside the lobby/ shop area. The cages were filthy. But a man came telling us about the animals and explained that the people who closed up the day before didnt get around to cleaning them. We were going to wait out the hour for the tour however the same gentleman played a prank on me and my son with a snake and it started me so much I had to leave. My husband was disappointed we had to leave he really wanted to see the bigger gators but I got quite a fright with the snake. :( In the future maybe it would be best to not play pranks on people before they purchase the tour. They lost 3 paying costumers today. read more

We've been to the old location three times and loved it every time. So many gators and reptiles to look at. And the kids used to love sitting on the larger gators...but I know they don't do that anymore. We're excited to try out the new location and see the new animals like the wallaby and the porcupine. "Close encounter with baby alligators, small alligators, GIGANTIC alligators and other swamp animals". I have been here a couple times and each time was a better experience than the last. All I have to say is that it is a very authentic Louisiana experience, if that is what you are looking for as a local or visitor. It is great for all ages, too! Things to bring (especially for a hot day): sunblock, bug spray and a hat. Since this is a walking tour, you will be warned to watch your step & where you sit - watching for ant mounds and cautious of fire ants. During my last visit, there was a small alligator loose (with tape around his mouth) in the store/cashiering area... we thought he was friendly, but my husband approached him and he lunged at him, so HEED CAUTION! The indoor area has some animals that you can go pet, souvenirs and a picture of "Big Mike" on the largest alligator in the farm. The tour guides here are amazing... so hands on! Being from California, I always tell my husband that they would never allow us to get this close to alligators or any wild animals like they do at this place. As soon as you walk out, you will be lead to an enormous turtle pond... that's all I am going to tell you about that... you will need to experience it for yourself. Then you will be along your way to the see the alligators... I am not going to give much away about the rest of the tour to leave room for imagination until you actually come to visit. Next time you are looking for a place to take the kids, some out-of-town guests or even an adventurous date/first date... this is the place to come! I love this more than any swamp tour I have been on in Louisiana. One more thing... looking for a unique place to have your child's next birthday party... have it here... they do birthday parties, too!! I definitely suggest this for kids parties 6years+. Enjoy!! They have great staff and they're knowledgable about the gators they have. The largest one wasn't anywhere to be seen, which was disappointing, but there were some large gators out anyway. We were happy to see and even handle one of the gators, but the whole experience was overshadowed when we saw a small fox locked in a tiny enclosure. We really couldn't figure out why a fox would be on display anyway at a gator farm, but it was just pathetic to see it in such a small space. I fish, hunt and love he outdoors, so I'm by no means a crazy animal rights guy, but the fox, raccoons and the nutria shouldn't be kept in those enclosures. Honestly it killed the whole experience for us. Ron was a great guide and I'm thankful for the tour. Hope You guys reconsider having the other animals here though. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed this personal tour and informational guide. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and compassionate toward the reptiles. We held and fed baby alligators, rode a tortoise and saw a few snakes. They are in the process of renovating their facility and when done, it will be amazing for the animals and visitors. I appreciate the fact that they stayed late for us because we got lost (drove from Texas). The guide did not rush us through the tour, but instead seemed to really take her time and show us everything we came for and you can tell she enjoys her job. read more

Definitely would recommend to anyone, especially those that are looking for a more interactive activity with kids! Was visiting a friend in the area & she brought me here. These guys really know their stuff - they talk about the different species, how you can tell the male from the female, etc. all while making it fun (& making sure everyone is safe & knows where to hold them). It has something for everyone. They let anyone hold the animals, but also don't force you to (I am a big fan of look, but don't touch when it comes to the bigger guys. My comfort zone was definitely the tiny turtles - see image) Even though the facility is under renovation right now, we were still able to go on a tour & see/hold the animals. This place is great! Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. There are some caveats to setting expectations. But if you want an up close and personal visit of all kinds of animals, you'll want to come here. First off, the place is slightly smaller to their prior place. But they are planning to move once more to provide bigger habitats. Still, even in this place, there was plenty to stay occupied for hours. And it did feel more private and personal where you can have discussions with the family who owns it. You can feed the animals and even get right down into their habitats (like the tortoise area). Since these are animals, one should be respectful enough not to do anything that would harm or tease the animals (signs posted everywhere and watch your children). They have an emu, alligators, a crocodile, goats, pigs, ducks, ferrets, a wallaby and more. We very much enjoyed the alligator, loggerhead turtle and wallaby encounters. You can see very much this family loves and respects their animals and are taking good care of them. The biggest caveat is the smell. I imagine it's the pigs. But pigs smell. So it didn't bother me too much, but hot Louisiana days, it's going to assault the senses to some who cannot handle it. I will also say call ahead to make sure they're open. They typically have hours Thursday-Sunday. But since it is family owned, I'm sure emergencies could happen where they have to leave for the day. Just be sure to get them on the phone before making the trip. read more

Awesome tours. We saw so much wildlife: alligators, racoons, turtle, aigrette, cormoran, boars! Funny tour guide too!

This was a field trip for my daughter and we had planned to make a day of it. We reserved our spot months in advance so we were pretty excited about it when it was time to go. We drove about an hour to get there and when we pulled up It seemed like a cute place. We were a bit early so we just looked around and waited. A small toddler bed was in front of the place, that was kind of odd. When we entered the gift shop, we noticed a few cute and/or interesting things. The couple behind the counter were friendly, but busy selling things. When you walked to back of store, there were animals in cages, aquariums and small pools. We fell in love with the skunks and bunny. There were snakes, turtles, crocodiles, lizards. We were disappointed by the habitats in which the animals were kept in. They appeared to be in too small of containers and the place smelled very bad. The more we looked around the more we wanted to leave. The tour guide introduced himself to us, gave us the rules and then we followed him outside. There were goats, turtles, a macaw and gators. The goats were cute and seemed happy in their enclosure. But when we got to the gators, it just didn't feel right. The gators that we saw did not want to be bothered but the tour guide kept picking on them. We left before your ended and we will not be back. read more

I hate to rate this place low because it looks like a super cute place. I'm from California and for the life of me I have not been able to see an alligator or crocodile or a damn raccoon or skunk for that matter of fact so I came over here to pay to see one and I am here during business hours and on their open days and this thing is locked and shut tight. I called 4 times. No answer! I am super bummed because I drove an hour from my hotel just to come see the wildlife. I should just stick with the zoo! I can't speak highly enough of our tour guide who is the grandson of the founder of the farm. We actually had to come back because the day we booked for they had a death in the family and closed the farm for the day. Our guide was incredibly apologetic, refunded our tickets and gave us a free tour the next day. And the tour was AWESOME. It was both educational and just plain cool. We got to hold gators, pet gators, feed gators, and learn all about them. If you want a true gator experience, go here!! They are very professional but also true gator/swamp people.
